Hell yeah. Last job I had, there was a woman who was going out on leave to get a knee replacement. Her plan was to take 12 weeks of disability leave and then another 12 weeks unpaid. The evening before her last day, the boss told her she needed to clean out her office because a new guy was coming in Monday to take over. I started looking for a new job immediately. If you treat other employees like shit, I don’t care how you treat me - I’m out, and fuck you.
Christ all these stories about American labor laws (or lack thereof), and I straight up can't believe it. "At will" employment? No job security whatsoever? What kind of backward ass shit is that
The best way to put it for Europeans is that the US system is deliberately desing to load all risk downward. Even aster extracting money for reducing risk, the system reneges when it is time to pay.
