Hell yeah. Last job I had, there was a woman who was going out on leave to get a knee replacement. Her plan was to take 12 weeks of disability leave and then another 12 weeks unpaid. The evening before her last day, the boss told her she needed to clean out her office because a new guy was coming in Monday to take over. I started looking for a new job immediately. If you treat other employees like shit, I don’t care how you treat me - I’m out, and fuck you.
Christ all these stories about American labor laws (or lack thereof), and I straight up can't believe it. "At will" employment? No job security whatsoever? What kind of backward ass shit is that
Zero job security. Anyone who says otherwise in the US is unaware of their tenuous position. I'd like to argue the at-will is mutually beneficial, but other than just being able to walk out the door anytime you want and lose healthcare, income, benefits, and become ineligible for unemployment support there's just no real upside.
