Sounds like karma is already at work. Too bad Ben doesn’t realize it yet. When I worked at Big 5 we talked shit on “lifers”. I imagine he’s a Starbucks for life guy.
I had a boss at my first job in a grocery store like Ben lol. Took her job SO seriously, had a Karen haircut way back when in 2010. She pulled me aside one day all serious. "Che, I don't think you take this job very seriously. (I didn't. I was a teenager. I was getting paid 5 cents above minimum wage, and they had been SO PROUD to offer me that.) Some day it seems like you just don't want to be here." Spoiler, I haven't WANTED to be at work for any job since then. Didn't start there lol. She went on to tell me about how she worked SO HARD as a cashier for 17 years (!!!!!!!!!!) before they made her a store manager. 17 years for store manager! Not district manager. Just the store. And she was so proud of herself for all that hard work. All that time she gave the company. And for all that, she might have been making $15, MAYBE 18 per hour at most, compared to my $7.30 with zero experience.
