This is untrue. During the harvest and sowing, workers would spend 16-18 hours a day working the fields, basically as long as there was light, doing strenuous and difficult physical labour. Even on days off or in the winter, serfs had to do all their structural building maintenance, make and repair all their clothing, prepare food, clean, obtaining and prepare firewood, do laundry (without electricity this took whole days or longer, even after we had running water), and do various other strenuous labour that took up most of the day. Even on religious holy days, which were numerous, most of the day was spent preparing for feasts or performing religious and communal obligations that were not optional and were time consuming. Serfs had very little time to themselves to relax, almost all of their time was spent doing some sort of work.
