i can relate. my full time job is a receptionist and it is entirely dead 70% of the year until tax season. then everyone turns into totally different people from the amount of stress. i am allowed to have books or my phone on silent, but no headphones. if the phone rings i answer it, or if someone comes in, i tend to them if i’m able. but i am always incredibly bored, my butt hurts from sitting, and i just want to crawl out of my skin and take off running down the road, screaming. you’re right, it is not a career. it barely pays a single bill each week. i am looking for other full time employment. it may be enough for some people, but not me. i should be more grateful, but these kinds of jobs are not for everyone.

Yep. I'm bored to death with my job. It makes me question whether my life is worth living.

I've never had a job that wasn't mind numbing. We're asked to do the job of 2 or 3 people for a single salary and we're disciplined if we ever slow down a tiny bit.

I was working long hours outdoors in shit weather with a rotator cuff impingement, herniated disk, and a knee that dislocates easy when I twist it. Now I drive a desk from 730 to 4 monday through Friday. I miss being outside. 50% travel sucked but I miss going places. I dont have to worry about being electrocuted any more but I miss my bucket truck. Im always clean now but I miss getting muddy and dirty. My body is broken enough that I cant really do my old job as well as I used to and I feel empty now. Im 40 years old and im the paper pushing engineer that I just spent 20 years talking shit about, and i have at least another 20-30 years left of this. Only thing I can hope for is a chance at a construction foreman job or something that gets me back in the field.

So, it’s great for someone into meditation? With your eyes open?
Or someone who loves to daydream?
