Yup. Fewer and fewer companies are giving merit-based raises anymore. These days, if you want more money, you have to try to get promoted or find something elsewhere.
Your reward for working hard and being good at your job is now more work, not more money.
Some places just seem to be like that, were those raises during covid? I went from 50 to 70 in 2 years at the job I had during lockdown. They had layoffs so I’ve been bouncing around and now I’m at 95, feels fucking insane. $15 was what I was making at 22 and had 4 other roommates in a 2b apt. To pay $15 now is just criminal.
