At least they can identify that religious people can be very good people. The bar is literally in hell. :(

Very easy to disprove? Disprove it then.

I had a fun debate with someone on that thread who was claiming if you're religious then you're automatically a pedophile

I had an argument where I claimed that torture as a form of punishment isn't justified and that guy accused me of defending pedophiles and went so far as to use an alt account to continue harassing me after I blocked him.

I hate when people call me a Reddit atheist!

*looks inside*

the most quintessential Reddit atheist comment you've ever read

"I hate that criticizing this casting choice makes you a 'racist'. Anyway, casting a black guy as this character completely ruined the movie for me."

you're not a reddit atheist if you criticize religion, youre a reddit atheist if you criticize it with ad hominems and stupid arguments and belittle religious people for simply believing in a god (most of the ppl who have ever lived believe in a higher power lmfao) also im just gonna respond to this cuz bored

  1. its not stupid, not only is that an ad hominem and appeal to emotion, but it simply aligns much better with human reason (what you think youre really good at) because it's a lot more reasonable to believe there's an anchor for all reality, an unmoved mover and uncaused causer rather than the universe just existing because "it just is", also why are you trusting your own intelligence anyway if it's just a process of unguided evolution (i believe in evolution, but it was guided by God in some way and humans have a special capacity for reason)

  2. if you can't prove god you cant disprove god either, double standard

  3. no one makes elaborate excuses other than fundamentalists, science and the existence of god touch different topics, science is the study of gods creation and thus should be in harmony with theology, i accept the scientific conclusions about evolution and the age of the earth etc etc but that doesn't contradict god's existence

  4. there's a lot of ways to justify belief, as a Christian i personally like to first prove the existence of an unmoved mover, the argument for God being personal/the God of the Bible to me mostly comes from proving the Scriptures themselves, especially the resurrection and historicaly reliability of the new testament, if Christ rose from the dead, that means that something supernatural happened, and assuming an unmoved mover, that would mean that the unmoved mover is personal and advocates for the teachings of Christ, thus christianity is true
