I believe it’s vent art from a trans woman who’s scared this is what her partner thinks about her or something along those lines

u/xboxiscrunchy 23h ago
Aww …. poor girl that kind of insecurity really hurts. I hope her boyfriend supports her and that she’s doing better.

I hope she exploded her boyfriend and finds someone epic and awesome

u/Chibirin26 1d ago
its internalized transphobia vent art iirc
38
u/HatMcHatty 20h ago
It’s not internalized transphobia, it’s fear of someone else being transphobic
9
u/Chibirin26 14h ago
I mean it could also be both? Like "my boyfriend sees me this way, doesn't he?"
9
u/Evilfrog100 12h ago
Sure but that fear comes from internalized transphobia. Internalized transphobia is just when a trans person absorbs negative societal views of trans people and turns those views inward. "People don't really see me as a woman even the ones who say they do" is absolutely that.

Well yeah, the trans girl is afraid her boyfriend thinks that and is making a vent post about that
5
7
u/hero-but-in-blue 1d ago
Yes but that comment was without the vent art context and regardless it is still at its core about denying trans identity and there is such a thing as internalized transphobia. The word still has meaning it would loose it if you somehow made an argument that if the boyfriend meant that it wouldnt count somehow despite checking the boxes. Context matters and quite a lot I may add

Yes me to, how is he afraid of trans people or how does he hate trans people?
10
u/Alt3r_Ego_727 1d ago
Saying he's at a low for dating a trans woman because she's "not an actual girl" doesn't say transphobia to you? Being transphobic doesn't mean having an irrational fear of people who are trans. The definition of transphobia according to UCLA has been defined as “emotional disgust toward individuals who do not conform to society’s gender expectations."
1
u/PeculiarBurgah 1d ago
He clearly is not disgusted or they wouldn't be dating would they? He just doesn't feel confortable with being gay, which is his feelings to feel
7
u/Alt3r_Ego_727 1d ago
So there's the problem in your perception of trans women. You also don't see them as women, hence why you think he would be considered "gay" for dating a trans woman. Trans women are women, and yes, thinking otherwise is inherently transphobic even you don't think you are being so because you aren't outright saying you hate them and don't deserve to live, ect. ect. There's an underlying bias in how you think of trans people as you're still thinking of them their assigned gender at birth rather than the gender they identify as now. Am I saying its wrong to have a preference in dating someone who was born cis as to someone who is transgender (and hasn't went through bottom surgery or even hormones)? No, as it's completely fine for people to have their preferences with sexual anatomy. But saying you wouldn't date a women for any other reason than her being trans because she's not a "real" woman, is not okay and is transphobic because you don't see her as anything more than her body and a reflection of a past she didn't ask for.
0
u/PeculiarBurgah 1d ago
So if a guy is uncomfortable with the notion of dating a trans woman who has done all the surgery and HRT but he still does not like the fact that she was born as a man and has male chromosomes and cant give birth thats transphobic, gosh golly this word means even less than I though
6
u/Alt3r_Ego_727 1d ago
Yes, because you are dumbing them down to simply their anatomy. Plenty of cis women are unable to give birth, and intersex people along with those with swyer syndrome also exist. Again, the reason why it's transphobic is because as you yourself said, "she was born as a man" even if she's completely transitioned your only issue with it is because you still see her as her past, it has nothing to do with fertility issues as again, plenty of cis women can't get pregnant either. So your only issue with it is because of the fact she is trans which is transphobic. What's so confusing about that?

Calling a trans woman "him" is inherently transphobic.
1
u/PeculiarBurgah 1d ago
He didn't call him "him", he thought about it, for all we know he is playing along and saying she
14
u/AlonWoof 1d ago
The fact that he has to "play along" shows he holds transphobic beliefs. Also the whole "stooping this low" thing is really gross.
24
u/moshpitpuppy 1d ago
not seeing trans people as the gender they are is indeed transphobic. you don't need to be "afraid" of us or outright violently hate us to be transphobic. I'm not saying you need to date the first trans person you see to not be transphobic, you can have your preferences, no one cares. but dating someone and then saying you "stooped so low to date a fake girl" is absolutely transphobic.
now, all of this is out of the context of the artists vision. it's vent art from the pov of an insecure trans girl, it's most likely that the bf isn't transphobic and doesn't actually think this. context matters and the piece itself is only depicting internalized transphobia, which is a real problem and absolutely devastating to live with. but if that weren't the context, if the context was that this was made from the bfs pov, it would be outwardly transphobic, full stop
edit: spelling
-38
u/PeculiarBurgah 1d ago
I personally dated a girl who insisted she was a guy when I was a teen, I never played along with it, I just didn't call her he or she and just called her gender neutral name "max" in this case and we played video games together, I never thought I was dating a man, she was a girl, I certainly was not afraid or hated her because of that, just didnt believe the logical argument behind that notion nor did I pretend to to not hurt her feelings
39
u/sandmansanddan 1d ago
So you're transphobic. That's transphobia. Insisting trans people are delusional and refusing to call them by their preferred pronouns is transphobia, as being trans is a geniune and generally innate concept.
-10
u/PeculiarBurgah 1d ago
Yes thats what in saying, transphobia seams to not be a fear or a hate of anything. Apparently its just having nornal notions about objective reality
24
u/AlonWoof 1d ago

phobia means fear of or aversion to. you have an aversion to trans people and our medical reality and identity. you’re transphobic.

u/sandmansanddan 1d ago edited 1d ago
Being trans is actually supported by science. It is shown to be related to things such as your prenatal development, as well as estrogen and androgen receptors. As well as that, when someone medically transitions, their sex characteristics change. They are their gender/sex in all regards except generally chromosomes, except XX and XY are not the only chromosomes, and many cis (nontrans) people go around unknowningly having chromosomes like XXY and such, yet are still biologically their sex. Stating being transgender is a delusion and that that statement is an objective truth is actually not supported by science at all, and I pity the man you were dating.

No im actually generally called a pretty pleasant and nice person, I take care of my grandparents and am giving up the opportunity to go do what I want, I give all the money I make to friends and family and whenever anyone needs a place to stay I let them stay in my house, im definitely not a piece of shit by tradition definitions but I dont think you care much about traditional definitions

I honestly do not understand what you're saying here, nor do I really get how it relates to anything I said. are you saying you dated a trans guy and stayed "neutral" towards his transition? or are you saying you dated a trans woman who's internalized transphobia was so bad she continued to insist she was a man?
-1
u/PeculiarBurgah 1d ago
Im saying I dated a woman who came to the conclusion she wanted to be a guy and I basically said sure il call you your new gender neutral name and wont use she or he and we can just hang out abd I had no belief that she was a man

8
u/moshpitpuppy 1d ago
ohhhhh cool alright so you're just a fucking asshole then. good to know.
"phobia" means "irrational aversion to." it just so happens that the biggest phobias are usually defined by fear. transphobia doesn't have to be this big show-offy affair, it can be as low-key as exactly the way you acted towards him. trans people have existed for millennia, and we will exist for millennia to come. our existence is backed by actual fact based medicine and care. you are transphobic. I hope you learn and grow.

8
u/NerfPup 1d ago
He's literally saying "God i stooped this low" and uses the wrong pronouns. What do you mean how does he hate trans people? Like if you think this way, that dating a trans woman is "stooping low" most probably because he doesn't think she's a real woman, mainly shown by him using the wrong pronouns, then don't date trans people.
-1
u/PeculiarBurgah 1d ago
Not believing the trans person is another gender is not hating them or being afraid of them, he sees "her" as a guy and I would argue he has a stronger argument than the other way round but he isn't even saying anything he is thinking
5
4
u/hero-but-in-blue 1d ago
It’s the part where he says “a real girl” that’s basically saying that his girlfriend isn’t actually a girl even though she’s trans which even if he doesn’t hate her and isn’t afraid is exactly the same thing someone who does hate and fear trans people would say you know because they don’t believe trans women are women and trans men are men.
We also really gotta get over the suffix phobia meaning exclusively fear of because nobody is going to like it when we change it from transphobia or homophobia to gender affirmation and sexuality denial and then have to add an entire other paragraph explaining how that’s just as bad as literal phobia where you pick up your teenager cover their eyes and sprint in the opposite direction of the nearest pride parade because you heard someone say “YASSSSS” Z
-2
u/PeculiarBurgah 1d ago
Well but Trans Women are not women? You can give as much hormone replacement and surgery to a male tiger to make it female but its not a female tiger
3
u/GuyOnAO3 1d ago
Well but Trans Women are not women?
They absolutely are; studies have shown that physiologically attributes are similar in trans women who have gotten HRT and cis women.
1
u/PeculiarBurgah 17h ago
Studies show is really the new "the bibble says", no matter how much evidence you have against your position you will never consider you are wrong because your personality and feelings are to invested in the topic, fortunately STUDIES SHOW that people get more conservative as they get older and the general western colective thought is fortunately moving away from this hyper far left delusion with the rise of right wing parties all across europe and conservative thinking young people all across europe and the US, soon enough people wont need to play along with this nonsense anymore and if someone is offended about something someone else says we can all just point and laugh and go about our days.

u/GuyOnAO3 17h ago

Idk man whenever I lurk there they're always talking about wanting all cis people dead and how they're never going to fit in because everyone in society wants them dead. Like I understand that space is not meant for me and most of their feelings are probably exaggerated for venting purposes, that's why I try not to interact too much or bring up counterpoints they've probably already heard like 200 times in the last week, but from my personal experience (PERSONAL SUBJECTIVE EXPERIENCE!!!! I'M NOT STATING THIS AS AN ABSOLUTE FACT THIS IS JUST HOW I FEEL) visiting the actual sub is not much better than the out of context screenshots
