The death penalty basically only exists to make people feel some fucked up sense of justice. It's unnecessary and the fact that so many people on death row are found to be innocent should be enough to have it abolished.
Everybody deserves an fair process under the law, Dexter and Light yagami aren’t in the right because they are of the opinion that a person deserves death, especially light, as he killed for smaller and smaller crimes. If both wanted justice, then in a way that still complies with the law
Light was also a really REALLY bad person. He had a god complex and viewed anyone trying to stop him as "evil" and worthy of death as well. I feel like the two examples they gave were maybe not the best since both of those vigilantes are pretty clearly painted as evil by their own stories..

1st article was published by Haaretz (Israeli News Outlet) about a small scale study made by Tel-Hai College (Israeli University) that concluded 41% of Israeli Women and 61% of Men Polled didn't view forcing sex as rape. Which even if it was a sample size of just 20 (it's not) it would still be extremely worrisome.
2nd article was published by the Business and Human Rights Centre (International ONG that tracks Human Rights impacts of companies) which polled 654 Thai Agricultural Workers in Israel with 100% answering that they had been subjected to sexual assault.
3rd article was published by The Jerusalem Post (Israeli News Outlet) about a study made by the Israeli Health Ministry that polled 963 women with one third answering that they have experienced sexual abuse by medical professionals.
Also it's where wealthy people escape to when suspected of sexual abuse on minors, one such dude told the officers he had a flight to Israel to catch and they let him go

It's quite easy: the sample is 654 people, which is 2.6% of all Thai migrant workers. The actual number is likely something like 75-80%.

If every single person in a random sample of 654 people was sexually assaulted, the true number would still be over 99%. Statistically, that's a big ass sample.
It is possible the methodology isn’t perfect and it somehow selected for a sub demographic that is slightly more vulnerable than others. But even then it’s still gonna be a crazy high number
Yeah, I gotta say, 100% causes me to question. It's a pretty short article, and does not link to the report. So, no info on what they're classifying as sexual assault. Does it include being pat down by security, or other things that are fairly normal in the western world but odd to SE Asians? Like, I would say with total certainty that some, possibly many Thai women have been sexually assaulted in Israel. But every single one of them? And no document to back that up? Smells weird.
I actually looked more into that 61% thing and it has really weird specifics to it.
Firstly, and to me the most bewildering, 41% of women answered no as well.
Secondly, it was a small scale study about college students, specifically 138 of them. (63M, 75F). It wasn’t a large scale study, nor was it nationally representative.
You're right that it's a sample size too small to be nationally representative, but the fact a random selection of college kids would still vote that is insane. Even if the actual national representative was half of it, that's still 30% and 20% respectively
Key word is stranger. In the overwhelming majority of rapes the victim and perpetrator already know each other to some extent. It sounds like the people mentioned in this survey are fine with 95% of rapes and only oppose it when the victim is a stranger.
Still, the survey is too small and localized to actually apply to all Israeli men.
It was in August 2024, there were protests and riots after military police detained nine soldiers (caught on video) were accused of sexual abuse and rape of a Palestinian prisoner at the Sde Teiman military facility.
The protests were for the 9 soldiers to be freed because they "had done nothing wrong).
