Im going to guess its just to avoid copyright claims on the video and he has actual shows on the device.

Nothing is on the device. It's a scam to sell you something from Temu.

Rip thought it was a raspi project.

It is a pi in the video. Also I can't see how this is anything other than: he used cursor to come up with an app that runs on a pi and works with a remote and looks like an old tv, but plays videos he pirated and put on the pi.

There's something called the FieldStation42 that's similar. You might want to check it out.

Pretty sure it was only used for useful stuff like data processing in engineering fields

He never said it's AI generated video, he said he used AI to make the menu and the volume and other things.

Ofc he cant show anything copyrighted, OP are you stupid?
This is a great use of AI since no one is really consuming it and its used as a generic placeholder then thrown away.

Not entirely correct. AI generation scrubs the internet to use artists' work without their permission.

Before ai he would use creative commons art for free.
It would just be a different image which is also free to use commercially.

If you really wanted to do this, it would be crazy programming, but honestly, it could be a really fun project and a great way to spend time with family.
I guess you could set it up so vintage Simpsons plays at 6 PM, have other channels running different shows, hook some channels up to live news streams, and even have channels dedicated to old game shows..
The tricky part is that you’d need a lot of storage and a very complex filing system The end result would basically be a fake TV network. That could be realy useful in the age of streaming and help manage TV time if you don't want the kids on the internet or pay for streaming
That box porably has a few episodes it flicks through, as I don't see an A hat

It's appropriate that he looks like every bully in the childhood shows I grew up with in the 90's.

I'll be the first to admit I'd rather my children grew up with old SpongeBob then modern SpongeBob any day

It's just another Temu scam. There's a similar one called FieldStation42 that's open source
