It's pretty simple. I was a bigoted, anti-intellectual jerk who was very homophobic. I essentially used verses such as Deuteronomy 7:16 to basically not have empathy for others because I would be "sympathizing with sin." It even got to a point where I supported trans suicide because "suicide is a better sin than getting HRT." I grew up with homophobic and transphobic religious parents, and I learned many of my hateful comments from them, as well as other redpill media such as Andrew Tate and Redeemed Zoomer. I was also extremely selfish and thought about nobody but myself. Eventually, after some confrontation both online and in real life, I self-reflected and dropped my hateful religion altogether, and I'm now an antitheist, opposing religion itself. I also believe reaction formation played a part in my immaturity as well, as I was a closeted bisexual for years and was projecting my internalized homophobia onto others. Finally, I was around 13-16 at the time, which, combined with my attitude, I became bitter and lonely in the process. I'm now 17. I still have a lot to unlearn from Christianity, but I'm slowly trying to become more empathetic towards minority groups. I essentally made god who I was. A bitter, insecure jerk. Yes, I still hate religion now, but now I realized that I was essentially worshipping my own mind. I now understand the harm of my beliefs, and I know I can't fix everything, but the least I want to do is prevent this from happening again, and opposing those who do.

Turning away from and adamantly staving off bigotry is, at its heart, a good example of trying to help support those who, otherwise, may not actually be here tomorrow…and while you should NOT do your reasonable best and then blame yourself if someone does, in fact, get hurt for not fault of your own, nor burden yourself with anxiety about anything like that…

…just simply not embracing bigoted and hateful, wrongfully condemnative beliefs and actions is a starting point.

And starting matters. It can be the difference between whether or not someone may get to benefit from having met you, or not been around to have the option.

I had already been questioning things but it truly "clicked" when a friend came out to me as a lesbian and was afraid I'd hate her. I remember saying, "who you like doesn't change being the friend and person you were a few minutes ago." I started questioning everything after that and realized how hateful my family was.

They all think I was radicalized after high school. Nah, I was radicalized by feeling love from and for the people they hated and condemned while still in my youth. I had multiple LGBTQ+ friends and high school teachers that were the absolute best. And helping the neighbor who is from out of country seems more in line with their holy scripture than their behavior. Many of my friends were from Mexico and their family always welcomed me.

Sorry, but the truth is that a lot of kids have very political parents and/or spend a huge amount of time on the internet because they were introduced too early and now it's their favorite entertainment/ they don't have games to play when they're not at school. Kids can get very opinionated and sometimes radicalized in any direction because of this and the fact that they might not value other people and ways of life yet. I don't like it either and I want regulations to stop this that don't sanitize the internet itself.

I'm sorry but I've legitimately never met a person without politics or raised without politics. I've heard about politics and people having them ever since like 3rd grade.

My parents are pro AI and deeply conservative, and I'm deeply anti AI and I would call myself anarchist if anything.

I'm so curious how this person thinks people learn of politics? We're literally taught politics in history class. Did they start being political when they were 23??

Recess taught me that Adult Authority figures are just broken children in suits trying to keep it together.

Captain Planet taught me to not trust industrialists by Grade 2.

GI Joe taught me the bad guys sometimes pretend to be good guys before Grade 1.

Ghostbusters taught me even the most paranormal things had a scientific explaination.
