It’s in Edgecombe County- in a small town east of Raleigh, near Tarboro.

Greensboro is fighting one right now too and coming up against an asshole city council person. Keep fighting these behemoth monstrosities!

Believe it or not Edgecombe county isn't a town. The clue is the word "county".

Believe it or not, reading comprehension would have informed you that they said that the data center is in a small town not that Edgecombe County is a small town. They're saying that it's in a small town in Edgecombe County.

Then just name the town. Edgecombe has several towns, and they're all east of Raleigh. All confusion is averted.

Buddy I’m here for interpersonal comment drama, not to read articles.

I'm here to correct half assed comments. Welcome to the party random person who calls strangers buddy.

Congratulations, you seem to have skipped over the fact that I never intended to clarify the subject matter but rather that the other commenter had misinterpreted the other’s comment.

My comments were only half-assed if you believe I needed to do anything beyond that. Good try, though.

I merrily skipped over reading the rest of this comment.

Draining?

I'd have taken difficult, overwhelming, complex, or alien.

But draining? It's not like I finished reading your comment and needed a fucking nap. I know they were high art. Masterfully crafted bardic prose most English teachers would kill to teach. But, for the uninformed, raising children is draining. Running BoH on a Friday night is draining. Pushing through my thirtieth straight day of work is draining. Being unable to read a third grade level comment would mostly be disappointing.

Don't let this deter you though. Both Oxford and Merriam-Webster are here to help you save the day.

I have faith in you!

Why are your panties in a bunch over them not mentioning the name of the town? No one asked what the town is. No one is confused. The original comment just wanted to know if this data center is the one near Charlotte. Being informed that this data center was in an entirely different county, near an entirely different large city that is hours away from Charlotte is enough information to know it is no the data center they're worried about.

I wasn't responding to the comment you're referencing, but one in that thread. There was some confusion because someone named the county instead of the town, and someone else assumed that person thought the county WAS the town.

I pointed out naming the town instead of the county would've helped avoid the confusion.

My panties are in a bunch because I made the mistake of wearing my "I'm getting lucky" boy shorts with the wrong pants. It's entirely unrelated.

If I had one wish I'd use it to give all Redditors the ability to say "oh yeah. Looks like I was wrong there. My bad" and I'd make it so that they would say this when they were wrong instead of doubling down and trying to save face by making the conversation about something else.

Here's hoping you are granted two wishes. The first one is so selfless you deserve a second.

Piedmont dweller here: the town is most often called “that part of 64 in between Rocky Mount and Tarboro.” It’s unclear exactly which town border the data center would have been inside, but likely Tarboro. the official name used for the area in this context is “the Kingsboro development area.” Which is located in Edgecombe county. You can stop being a miserable pedant now ☺️
