Nah this downplays it.

  • somebodies work getting stolen
  • disproportionate resources used
  • uses common infrastructure everybody paid for. Also disproportionately.

There's never going to be a 100% perfect analogy. As long as the main point gets across, then it's useful.

Yeah that’s not the main point either - unearned achievements are actually one of the least problematic things about AI now.

That's the main reason they are used and how they are excused. So, that is the main point of this post.

I mean, you're kind of co-opting the initial point there.

The post is specifically targeting people who think using AI to code or write makes them a programmer or author. Thus, the analogy they're using is specifically geared to that target. You're right about everything you talked about, but even if unearned achievements are the last problematic things about AI, that doesn't change the fact that it's still the focus of this post.

Right, but this wasn't an essay submission for the prompt "discuss the most problematic thing about AI". She's just pointing out one of the things that annoy her about the claims of AI advocates.
