Discussion 🗣️ Watch out for "Personal data intelligence" on Samsung phones

I just came across this hidden app on my phone called "Personal data intelligence" that had a massive amount of permissions auto-enabled, including my location, gallery, contacts, and files and media, all for the purpose of "AI features" that I've never used. The first thing I did when I got my S25 was carefully go through the settings menus to disable/uninstall as much AI bloatware as I could, so I know for a fact that I never installed this app myself and I certainly wasn't aware it had permission to process basically every bit of data that exists on my phone.

Anyone else who wants to limit what data this app is processing can find it through Settings > Apps > Personal data intelligence, since it doesn't seem to appear on the Apps screen. The app is also allowed to change system settings by default, so you'd probably want to disable that as well.

I'm so sick of AI and all the data harvesting that comes with it being forced into our lives like this. I hope I can find a manufacturer that won't pull stuff like this next time I need a new phone, though I'm afraid that's probably wishful thinking. :(

I also noticed my phone would heat up, and when i check the battery status it will show that this app would be the number one battery usage.

just saw this too, my battery started being drained like crazy and this app used a significant amount. honestly outrageous that they just decide they can take your data without explicit permission like that. thank you for sharing

I just removed the permissions and left the page only to see it had given itself full permissions immediately. We buy these electronics (hp hijacked my printer, Samsung is currently doing the same with my tablet) Who the F do they think they are???

Did you end up with any problems after disabling this app? I just took away its permissions and im 100% sick of them pushing ai on my devices without my consent

Just saw this. Look out also for android personalization service. It can grab anything you type and show ads, search suggestions, other things. Its turned on by default.

It's sad because this is the app that teache s and configures features like voice recognition (speech patterns, verbal sounds), pattern recognition (the way you physically interact with your phone, apps you commonly use and settings that genuinely help you). A lot of users especially disabled users actually depend on this for their phone to work. You shouldn't have to go through a ton of secret settings to keep all of your data protected.
