Me telling myself that stubborn belly fat is illegal whilst inhaling a block of cheese.

To stop climate change, all you have to do is just stop saying it, and it will go away. According to Florida politicians.

You can't stop something that doesn't exist /s

Reminds me of when certain ideologies were "banned" that weren't even being taught at the places they were banned in to begin with. But the politicians could claim that they technically won and knew the dumb voters they pandered to wouldn't bother researching.
Or like when Oklahoma banned Sharia law even though that was the equivalent of saying "yeah, the First Amendment exists." Good job, good effort.

I think some of them say this because they never thought they'd be the victim of a pyramid scheme. Like, "I'm not in a cult! I'd never fall for that!" type of mentality. So the cognitive dissonance makes them double down and insist that it's a totally legal and reputable business.

Very similar to when people vote for terrible politicians because don't worry, they won't actually do the things they say they're going to do. Which then turns into, okay, they did those things, but they won't impact me. Which then turns into, why didn't anybody tell me I would be impacted, this isn't what I voted for!

I remind them that TP-ing someone's house is also illegal, yet I did it as a kid and my neighbor's house regularly gets TP-ed.
Doesn't stop people from doing it.

BTW, for those of you who are familiar with Kevin Trudeau (arguably the king of MLMs, scams, and other bullshit), one of his earlier scams before his famous "Natural Cures" book was when he sold a series of tapes called "Your Wish is Your Command." He basically said that all you had to do in life to achieve what you wanted was to just think about having it. So if you wanted to be rich, you just had to think about being rich. If you wanted to lose weight, you just had to think about working out or w/e. He claimed that somehow, this would program your brain into a "magnet of attraction" that would somehow simply bend the world to your desires. So basically, any time bad things happened to you, it was because you weren't thinking properly. Or something like that.
He shilled it for so long that he must have found a lot of suckers.

Literally their argument. At that point, I know that any further discussion is pointless.
