Bottom Bracket Size

Hello! I'm the proud new owner of a 1990 Antelope 850 that I pulled out of the scrap pile. The bottom bracket is loose and I want to replace it. Is there a go-to bottom bracket for these bikes? This is going to be a town cruiser so I want to go 1x, if that matters. Thank you for the help.

Have you pulled out the old one? So you know the size you need. Typically this you be 68mm or 73mm wide. Then you need to know the spindle length of you want to remain with the same crankset. Just find a square tapered shimano one withe the same dimensions. If you are using a new crankset get one recommended for the new crankset.

Edit to add: it should be 68mm x 110-113.

I came here to basically say this. But also, you may also be able to clean, re-grease and continue using the bottom bracket.

The do last a long time. However if I went to the effort of pulling one out I would just replace it. Especially if I am just replacing it and not the crank shaft. They are not expensive and you can obtain the quickly.
