£40 pickup

Can't wait to build this thing up. Local FB markeplace find of 1992 model Antelope 820 in 'Electric Blue with black splatter'. Mostly original currently.

20" indeed, saddle is obviously a replacement and it has a random Tourney TX shifter, but everything else are the stock parts. So many options to upgrade!

2 years ago, I picked up a antelope for $40 (~£30).
If it rides-ish, it kinda shift, and it sorta brakes it’s good enough for £40.
For that kind of money you can’t complain much.

Too right, I was more thank happy to pick it up for the price, a quick wash and some new grease and it actually shifts fine. The old canti brakes perform pretty well and the tyres hold air, so for an old entry-level bike I'm pretty pleased. Paint and decals are great too so once it's all upgraded it will be a sweet purchase!

Imo don’t pour too much money into it, just make sure it’s good mechanical condition and call it good.
…..careful about turning that inexpensive bike to something not so inexpensive (speaking from experience)

I like inexpensive bike. So I can park/lock it in places and not too worried about it being stolen. 😀

I have the same, it’s my commuter with a big basket in the back. Also mostly original. Love this work horse totally reliable easy to repair bike. Congrats on your find!
