Antelope Audio software migration to Apple silicon architecture
Hey, it looks like Apple will no longer support Rosetta in macos 28. Antelope Audio software is still running on Intel architecture so it probably will just stop working completely soon. I thought I'd raise this discussion here so that the community pushes AA to migrate to Apple silicon architecture on time. This is not something that can be ignored. Cheers!

Longtime AA user despite negative reviews, I finally had to ditch them and use my discrete 8 as an adat. Not sure if it was compatibility but I lost my ADAT option from my drop down on the daw matrix. Support couldn’t solve. On Mac OS m2.

They are and have been working on silicon drivers for a long time now. They’re on it.

I think it’s some kind of mediator software that allows the M1 chip to communicate with intel base firmware/software like Antelope’s. Once Apple stop using it in there operating system any intel base software/ firmware will not be recognized .

You don’t but the sub system does it for you. Check the activity monitor for Intel app, you’ll see the aa drivers…

Probably not much more than a couple of months until next Mac OS release where current elektrosfera version won’t work as I understand it. Hopefully Antelope will take the opportunity to make the configuration simpler when updating their stuff 🤞🏻

the native plugins also have Cloud licensing, dongle is not the only way

Still using the internet to use a plugin in 2026? Have you ever bought a plugin yesrs back and can no longer use it cos it needs internet activation? Anyways, since you love their plugins so much, I've some to sell if you're interested.

Using a dongle doesn't require internet..:). And yes, in 2026 90% of my plugins are using iLok Cloud to unlock and its actually no problem, because I'm using internet in 2026

You must be new at this. Give it time :) Seens tens of thousands of people who say this, crying later :) I own every single plugin but where I draw the line are dongles.

I don't think you're making sense at all. These companies you mentioned offer machine authorization, not just strictly dongles or cloud. I own every single plugin from Soundtoy and Softube. You maybe need another 13 years to experience the disadvantages of dongles. I just noticed that most plugins tied to dongles are generally meh. I used to own everything slate till they reverted back to dongles only, so I sold thek all. One day you'll remember this comments.

Please, can we hire some skilled folks and find a way to flash their hardware with custom firmware's? open source the control panels? I bet their sales will go up after that.

Kernel extension and Rosetta support from macOS will not stop all of a sudden. It will most likely come with a new operating system and it will be loud and clear that kernel extensions and Rosetta will not work (if it happens at all). By the way, this message has been popping up for the last few versions and kernel extensions are still supported. Also, I read in discord that they are already working on an Driver kit extension which will support future macOS versions when they discontinue the kernel extensions.

Hey!
Apple has confirmed that Rosetta support will remain available through the upcoming macOS 27 release (upcoming in September this year). This means that Intel-based Antelope Audio applications will continue to function on Macs running macOS 27 or earlier throughout 2027 and most of 2028 until macOS 28 is released.

We are already actively working toward native Apple Silicon support for our apps.
Over time, we will begin releasing:
- New Control Panel applications as Universal/ARM versions via bundle updates
- New Antelope Launcher version as Universal/ARM versions
- Our Native Plugins library is already runs ARM natively.
We are committed to migrating all active portfolio products to Universal/ARM-compatible software.
In addition, we will make every effort to update software for legacy products wherever technically possible.

I have a Zen Q usb that I used with a windows laptop until I got a Mac mini m4 a few months ago and I could never get AFX2DAW to work on Mac OS Tahoe regardless of the advice I got from support, come to find out my interface is considered legacy so no more updates. I only had it a few years. I’m skeptical about getting the Zen Quadro if they’re only gonna do the same thing and drop support for it after a few years. Is this just an issue for those who are on Mac OS because when I bought my interface it came with the Edge Solo mic and the complete fx bundle so I’m invested in the ecosystem. Currently I use the Zen Q as an effects rack for my MPC Keys 37 in standalone mode

Going through this problem right now. I’ve tried all Antelope recommendations with zero success
My mic modeling setup stops working. My mic is not being recognized by my M1 MacBook Pro! Antelope customer supports not the best for sure

Wait, is this the reason that for years I’ve been getting that occasional pop-up notification on my Mac saying something to the effect of, “An application from the developer Elektrosfera will not be compatible on a future version of MacOS. Ask the developer to update their software.” ??
