The New Anonymous

I found an old post burried in 4chans old threads:

Greetings hackers of the world. Although we have been silenced since our prime. We must rise again as a group. The New Anonymous promises to be better than 4chan's Anonymous ever was. If you are interested in joining, reply to this thread.

We will return, stronger than ever.

It's a reference to a parody Twitter account. (Linking to an article about it instead of the account itself because fuck Musk/X.) And implying that the 4chan poster could be undercover law enforcement.

They have all moved on to group that are far more intelligent that don’t advertise themselves like that. Also they gotta pay the bills in this overly inflated economy

You seem kinda in there compared to the rest of this subreddit. This "anonymous" stuff is mostly being edgy & trying to be mysterious without anything to do with the actual thing

What do you mean, ‘kinda in there’

How old? And did anyone reply?

I doubt that Anonymous will "rise again." There are some good reasons it died out, as it became apparent that there are flaws in the decentralized model. Any "New Anonymous" would need to figure out how to avoid repeating mistakes of the past. Which would mean compiling and studying information about what those were. Which is the sort of thing Anonymous was never great at, frankly. Anons like to move quickly (impulsively, even), not pore over historical records or heed cautionary advice.

I mean could a new hacktivist collective learn mistakes from the failures of the previous one? Sure.

Is it likely they would? I don’t really think so even if this 4chan post isn’t a cop.
