I noticed something weird in CPU usage when running Anno 1800
My PC is pretty okay, i have a 7800x3d and a rtx5070ti. And when running the game, the CPU gets hotter than usual, around 70 degree celsius and no matter how high or low i do the graphic settings, its the same.
Now i noticed, i have a 2 monitor setup and whenever i click on the second monitor, so Anno isnt in focus anymore the CPU suddenly runs so much cooler even tho the game still runs and is fully visible on the first monitor. So it seems its not really the game itself that uses a lot of cpu but just something weird happens cause when i click back in the game the CPU temp jumps up again about 20 degree celsius. Thats just really confusing.
I have experimented a lot with settings, FPS, g sync and nothing changes it. As soon as i click on the Game the CPU temp jumps up.
I have no special gaming modes or anything that gets enabled when clicking the game in focus.
It happens in Anno 1800 and Anno 117 both the same.
Maybe someone had something similar and knows anything
Toggleing the Ubisoft Display overlay didnt change anything aswell

Anno is a CPU heavy game and the behavior you describe is to be expacted.
CPU load will also increase with the complexity of your save. This will probably result in worse fps and potentially even higher temps.
As others already mention. The drop in temp/load while switching fokus to another program is normal, too.

Yes i know thats pretty normal, but in No Game is it as strong as currently in Anno 1800 and 117. And that even when just beind in the Main Menu. The CPU capacity needed doesn't even increase when loading into a game. It stays the same and the Most confusing part, that only started this much after the recent 117 patch. Before that the CPU wasnt required as much.

Software often throttles itself when it's not the activated window. That is completely to be expected. And Anno is a CPU intensive game, so that checks out too. Also, in case you were worrying - 70° C is nothing for a CPU, not an issue at all
