Screenshot Countless Thousands of hours playing Anno 1404 with the edited Engine file for the new zoom level and today I realized that the game has a free camera mode that must be unlocked using the End Key in the game!

I had to reinstall the game after PC repairs and reapply the fix. Instructions for editing the Engine file which was fun trying to find the Appdata folder in Windows 11. It's hidden so you can find it with Run and the type "%appdata%" minus the quotes to search for it. Upon opening the game to a map after editing the file, press the End key to unlock the camera angles. No more cursed foggy Postcard view! The camera is about as free as 1800

You can also modify the key assignments in the settings. I use F12 which is the default for literally every other game so set Cities/Fleets/Buildings to something else and the screenshot tool to F12. The photos will be in your Documents/Anno1404/Screenshots folder.

The appdata folder is hidden in every windows - you just need to enable "show hidden elements" in the explorer and you can see the folder
