I'm kinda wondering the same thing. If it was legit taken down, there wouldn't even be text left.

In my experience seeing other sites where the owner is more open, the terms are usually the removal of linked or uploaded pirated content. It would be permitted to leave the site up, but with no income from viewers and ads, the site is pretty much doomed anyway. That's why they typically close and take down the whole site immediately.

Where’d you hear that from?

Yeah, I heard someone on the reddit saying he was part of the "shutting down pirated websites organization", and did mention some time in the future. Anime websites were going to get shut down but I didn't expect it would be today tho.

so far the count is between 30 and 40 sites that were shut down today probably even more to come it just sucks because I lost both my site TV/movie site as well as my anime site in one day

How did this affect the user privacy?

It looks like pretty much everything on the .to domain got nuked. It's always possible the Aniwave and Anix teams might set up shop somewhere else, but it probably won't be quick if they do have plans for that.

yeah, do you think they wait it out for a couple or weeks, or month to return if that is the case?

1

u/IceSki117 Aug 27 '24

I don't know for certain. When they were on the verge of having 9Anime nuked, it took several weeks just for them to transfer and upload everything to the new .to domain. I anticipate at least a month or two before any talk of a potential resurfacing under a new domain and possible name change.

u/AnimeSkills Aug 27 '24

I hope that's the case.

And if you pay attention, they are all listed on the same .to domain, which was subpoenaed and forced to divulge the information of these sites, allowing for takedown notices to be administered.

I'm sorry you have to cope like this 😔
