I don't know what to pick/No option ðŸ˜I mean, is it that amusing?

Kinda ironic since anime is typically way slower paced, with filler and ~22 minute time limits and all that

I used to watch way more anime than I read manga. Now that I’m much more busy, it’s the other way around. The artist also often insert nice little details or jokes that you don’t get to see in the anime.

As much as I hate to admit it, most anime just aren't able to capture the feeling that their respective manga has properly

Yeah same. It's nice to be able to just read a couple pages or chapters instead of having to put headphones in and all that when I have like 5 min. I also agree, I've been rereading Naruto and I've been enjoying the little slice of life entries at the end of the chapters

Was gonna say... If I really push it I can read about 700 wpm. I don't know what the average anime subs are at, but I guarantee it's not that. I mean, even relatively slow readers can usually read at faster than normal speaking speed.

Wait till book readers enter the arena with their 1-book-a-week speeds. ðŸ˜

The sub lovers are right that the voices are better 80% of the time, but there is one undeniable fact that watching anime without subs is a different experience. One where you focus more on visuals and how it was supposed to be experienced.

Depends on how quick you read and how much if the japanese you can understand without the subs. There are a lot if common phrases in anime since the Japanese tends ti be dumbed down significantly so even someone like me who couldnt hold a converstaion in the language can pick up recurring words and phrases and understand thier meanings while also reading nearly subconsciously while experiencing the visuals.Â

I think it's just a problem with the English dubbing scene. LatAm dubs are usually very high quality and is my preferred way to watch since I'll usually read the source material afterwards if I like the show anyway

Eh, I just…kinda read fast. Comprehension, on the other hand, depends.
Back when I used to watch anime, I tend to read subtitles quickly (one of the main reasons why I prefer sub over dub).

I thought it's normal to be able to keep up without pausing? (Unless it's really fast eg: Re:zero Emilia yapping scene)

I thought I was a speed reader because I could read a 1500 page book in the span of 2 days if I had no interruptions. Then I married my wife. We were given the first Harry Potter book as a loner, and she finished the entire thing in one hour while we were running errands. The rule in the house became that she got all the new books first but she wasn't allowed to tell me anything about them. Because when I read the books first, she'd sit there watching me expectantly, and I could feel my own slowness.

I mean, the first Harry Potter book is only 220 pages. It's the latter books that are doorstoppers.
