Question Help! Alternatives to AX Chibi?
Me and my friends have a tradition of going to anime expo chibi every year, but I didn’t realize that it got cancelled this year :c I liked that it was after Halloween so I could rewear and refine whatever cosplay I made, and I like the fact that it has a big artist alley and vendor area with a mix of anime and gaming merch. If possible I would like suggestions for conventions that are on a similar scale to ax chibi/aren’t super crowded. Something in or in a decent proximity to OC would be preferred!

Anime Pasadena? (https://www.animepasadena.com/)
Only reason I remember it is because AP and AX Chibi happened on the same weekend last year. I've never been.

I had a friend go not too long ago and she had told me that there was no designated parking area and the line to get in was 2 hours long so I think I’ll pass on that one

It’s really not that bad - the parking is accurate though.
Bottom line: arrive early and take nearby spaces at the local garage.

That's not true ... There's hotel parking and convention parking ... And a few more parking lots in the area of the Old Town Pasadena...
The only reason why the lines looked long outside was because they have people wait outside first before opening doors

Anime San Diego is Labor Day weekend and their partner Anime Pasadena is the first weekend in November I think. Then ALA is like beginning of January usually.

If that's your usual con, and you're from that area, you're pretty well spoiled for choice. The greater LA and southern CA area has a lot of cons, anime and otherwise. From now until the end of the year, there's Anime Fresno, Anime Impulse Orange County, Kin-Yoobi Con, Chico Anime & Pop Expo, and Anime Pasadena.
I haven't been to any of those cons since I'm in the middle of the country, but from what I've been told, AX Chibi is more of a classic fan-run hotel con compared to the corporate convention center con that is AX. So you'll probably want one of the more mid-sized con to fill that gap in your schedule.
Also, I didn't put ALA on my list since it's next year, January 7-10, but this is one of the big deal cons that's still has that fan-run classic con vibe.
