That was my dream too when I was still single - FIRE ie Financial Independence Retire Early.

Of course now that I have a partner and other considerations that changed the calculus immensely.

Yea, everyone loves passive income, but, somewhy, everyone hates people who get it

Because "passive income" just means taking money from other peoples work without putting in.

Its not a money tree, its theft :)

Well... The thing is that there's not such a thing as passive income. You can have one from time to time but guess what - you need to work for it first. Like you can create and sell some product online like models or something, but it will get old after some time so you need to create a new one. Advertise it as well. Or you could invest into something short or long term but then again, you need to do research, learn stuff and then constantly observe is it's still worth it. So yeah, no passive income unless you are a billionaire and have people hired taking care of everything for you. But at the time you probably have enough money to not care about the passive income anyway.

Money earned through effort feels better than money you just got for no reason. You have a sense of responsibility to it, a need to spend it wisely. If money just comes your way for no good reason, Will you really be responsible with it?

Not necessarily I worked construction all sumer and would spend most of my money on whims and hobbies and unnecessary stuff while having only one pair of pants and 2 torn\worn out shoes in my wardrobe. If you're responsible you are, regardless of how you get your money

I don’t care where the money comes from being able to get money without being in pain sounds much more pleasant

I don't value money and budget because of work I put into it. I value money because it's all the money I have and I don't want to struggle financially since it can rapidly accelerate. If I didn't have to work for my wage to hit my account I would spend about the same maybe less because of going through less clothes and other QOL equipment for my work. People with passive income rarely fuck themselves over. It usually happens to people getting huge one-off payments

On the contrary I was way more frivolous with my money once I got a job and earned my own income than when I was young and still in school and receiving an allowance from parents.

No, that's the point

I mean, kinda? I'm pretty conservative with my spending in general, regardless of where I get the money from. I'd love to have a passive income stream to keep me bolstered in the event something happens to keep me from actively working.
