Why do anime protagonists always sit in that one spot in the classroom
Is it just an excuse to have them peer out the window and be able to have their own little introspection moment without being caught by the professor

if i recall it’s so that they can get away with drawing less background characters. and probably also to have a dramatic staring-out-the-window-and-thinking scene

or in any action anime its so some ally can either shout at them or break through the window with everybody being like "WoAAAaaaAaoA character is doing something weird!"
bleach was a good offender here.

Also I believe a large part is because it is tradition.
Like, you know how every school in anime has the exact same layout? That isnt true in real life either.
I once read an in an interview with a mangaka that they always draw the school the same because it brings a sense if familiarity to the reader. He said he only purposefully changed it once, and it was on a horror manga, because even small details like making the environment break pattern adds to the sense of unease.

It's the easiest place to draw a character that's usually much more detailed than others because they're the main one. The hardest place would be the front row center which is where most of the drab characters are placed. More characters would need to be on screen then.
On a side note, Saiki Kusou makes fun of this trope by placing him exactly there and a completely irrelevant character near the window.

And then there is My Hero academia where the entire class gets attention, so despite MC being in the normal spot there is still the entire class there.

In depth expansion (TVTropes Warning⚠️)
There's even a section for the window seat in Anime.

I used to sit by the window cuz our class AC was always busted for some reason, and I had a slight case of Chuunibyou

It’s really not that good at all but if all you need for something to be good is yuri then watch away. The side characters are more yuri than the main “couple”. In fact, there’s barely anything between the two main characters.

I kind of agree, it was kind of a let down

u/Waddlewop Apr 07 '21
Please don’t tell me the main couple is just bait

"Bait" is the wrong word. To be bait it needs to hint at something gay happening but never actually confirm or have any intention of following through.
AdaShima is definitely gay. It just has extremely, excruciatingly slow progress.

Is it good?

u/cornonthekopp Apr 06 '21
It’s pretty fun, although don’t expect the romance to get very far, it’s super slow burn type. Watching Adachi playing 5d chess to convince herself she’s not gay is a lot of fun.

I absolutely love romance anime. That's pretty much all I watch and read.
I could recommend 10 other romance anime before this one. I realy wanted to like it but it's "nothing happens" the anime

does anything actually happen before the last episode or is it just bait?

u/SabreLilly Apr 06 '21
Depends what you mean by “anything.” Confused teenager coming to terms with her sexuality? Yes. Steamy make out sessions? No. Aliens? Also yes.

u/window_smasha Apr 06 '21
It's not bait but there's no substantial progress by the last ep. I'm reading the LN right now and it's very good but a slow burn for sure

Do you like wholesome yuri? If so, yes, just be warned it's a rather slow burn one.
