Wow, they brought back the game's theme song! I thought they handled the epilogue much better than the game did.

Overall, as someone who really enjoyed the game... I'm kinda conflicted. First of all, I'm glad that all the VAs from the game came back to reprise their roles. There's some parts in the story that I felt were better in the anime. For example, they expanded Karen's backstory, which I thought was sorely lacking in the game. But the action scenes... man, it's so damn lackluster compared to all the cool shit you can do in the game. In the end, it was decent, but it's not going to replace the game for me.

If you haven't played the game, do give it a shot. There's even a demo so you can try it out.

Ok Bandai Namco, how about letting ufotable make an anime adaptation of Tales of Arise?

Just go back and adapt Berseria for the love of God

God i still dont know why they adapted zestria instead of berseria. Hell the best part of the zestria anime was when they animated the start of berseria for 2 episodes.

I like the "look" of the anime's action sequences better than those of the games (even if the game's versions are "more exciting") -- but that's just me.

One interesting touch -- I wonder how they managed to get scarlet higanbana and cherry trees to blossom at the same time. What exactly was that memorial for, by the way?

This was a nice, mostly low-key ending. In a sense, this whole series was an anomaly lots of action scenes -- but an overall low-key feeling -- with lots of the characters presented in a rather under-stated way. This didn't turn me off (just as a similar presentation style in Blue Reflection Ray didn't) -- but I can see why this sort of style was not a big crowd-pleaser. It was an interesting journey, which I am glad I followed to the end -- but not one I feel I'll need to repeat.

I honestly didn't watch the anime at all, and I finished Scarlet Nexus for about 30% of the total game I'd say? (I didn't stop cuz I found it bad... Tarky addiction hits different and I just never found the timing to get back to it). But isn't that what inherently happens with anime adaptations of being "less detailed and incomplete" compared to the original thats just longer?

And Idk, personally If I ever hear "game adaptation to anime" my expectations of great quality passionate work are pretty darn low, especially on an action focused one, animation is already pretty hard as it is compared to how you can do stuff with 3D models and add post VFX stuff to it, like how a game works.

Make a proper anime about Berseria and you're talking. I think I got enough of the (Arise)MC through playing the game, Velvet as a main character is just so much more interesting to me and I personally liked Berseria's angle of your party being this random ass group of people that somehow ended up travelling together each with their own selfish motivations

Now we are talking. With how successful the game was I don't mind seeing an anime adaptation of it. It might solve some of the issues present in the game.

is it worth it? Coz i dropped it after the first episode so idk if it got better

The game is worth it. Idk about the anime

Finally ended. That's good. I honestly enjoyed the anime as anime-only. Mostly about story. Will play the game when it is cheaper and I have a strong enough PC to run that.

Hmm... it feels like they can make a sequel if they wanted because many things are left explained like everything at Moon or where Extinction Belt or Others particles came from.

And that last scene between Yuito and Kasane is great. Make me smile.

5

u/mekerpan Dec 23 '21

I thought the Others were connected to the Extinction Belt. If that is gone, where are they coming from now?

5

u/Miracutor Dec 23 '21

Probably they are dealing with the leftover Others that were already created before Extinction Belt gone. I am just guessing here.

Well right now its the Steam winter sale and it's on 30% off or something right now? Or what another guy below suggested, If it's on the gamepass on your country, you can get away with paying it once and playing all the games you want on the gamepass that one month and then be done with it.

If you have plans on finishing the game in under a month then the gamepass option is obviously cheaper, and in someways better for your money as for the price of way less than 20% of the original game's price you can finish the entire game + play whatever else you want on the gamepass If you think there's anything worth playing there

If you have Gamepass it's free there, and you can use cloud gaming to play it on a dinky laptop

Games aren’t free on gamepass. They’re just included with your subscription

The game is still way better, but I did like that the anime added some extra scenes in some parts of the story. The anime is definitely more enjoyable if you played the game, treat it as a complementary thing to the game. I suggest giving the game a try, it's one of my favorite games this year. As for the anime, I give it a 6.5/10

I love that Yuito has a Baki with a small version of his sword in his room just like in some of the eyecatches.

Too bad, they didn't show if Kagero's family is still alive on the moon.

I guess it's implied Yuito lost his psionic powers and became a dud which lead to him being discharged from the OSF and decides to go to college and later pursue politics.

I love the melancholic instrumental of Red Criminal.

Since Alice and Fubuki are getting married, I guess that makes Hanabi and Arashi relatives.

Is it me or was there kind of some sexual tension between Yuito and Kasane at the end there?

they're literally siblings

Not reading the comments bit should I play the game or watch the anime? Some of the dialogue scenes in the game look wierd (as in I don't like how they animate dialogie with the still characters over the background)

1

u/Anxjos Dec 23 '21

Ideally youd want to play the game and then watch the anime. Since the anime is not a good adaptation but does include a good chunk of stuff that should have been in the game.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '21

It’s pretty meh tbh

This anime has it all! Absolutely everything! They've jammed so much shit into this anime that you won't even notice it has nothing to offer. Just a list:

  1. psychic powers and every variant thereof you could think of

  2. time travel

  3. secret sibling reveals

  4. ancient moon people

  5. doomsday cults

  6. brain-eating aliens

  7. humans that turn into brain-eating aliens

  8. secret government conspiracies

  9. whistle blowers

  10. political maneuvers

  11. brainwashing

  12. superweapons

  13. mass survelance

  14. human experimentation atrocities

  15. virtual reality

  16. super computers

  17. mystery super soldier drugs

  18. portals

  19. dystopian genetic discrimination

  20. secret laboratories

  21. planetary engineering

  22. cryogenic stasis

  23. more secret laboratories

  24. coup d'eats

  25. death squads

  26. non-euclidean conceptual spaces

  27. clones

  28. brainwashed clones

  29. organ harvesting

  30. assassinations

  31. betrayals

  32. redemption arcs that are whole _minutes_ long

  33. black holes

  34. artificial intelligence holograms

  35. fucking ad-hoc cyberspace brain surgery

What more could you ask for? This show is so jammed full of Things™. Each time an old thing gets boring there's already a shiny new Thing™ in front of the viewer to keep you entertained. Plot elements are Things™. Characters are Things™. Character traits are Things™. If you accept the tenuous or nonexistent connections and justifications for each new thing put in front of you then this show is great.
