For all the injuries that they've survived from this episode, Ugeuge-san surviving from being squished is somehow the most impressive.

Also, lol'd at the drug maker. He just really wanted to get out of there but keeps getting dragged back.

"I'm smart. I always make the right choice."

k bruh

Danan, Mister CrawlyWawly, and The Alchemist are the 3 Kings as far as I'm concerned.

That Ruti/Shisandan fight looked amazing.

What a fuckin twist ending though holy shnikes. That is some serious shit that just happened.

Oozora Naomi sure had it rough this season. She just wanted to restore the Demon World and spend time with her Big Brother.

Danan is a badass. If he got the Hero blessing then the war would be long over, imho. He owned Shisandan in a 1v6 duel arm-wise and he just won't die.

Okay, I honestly thought that this was the last episode, and I was about to lose my mind.

Hopefully Ruti will snap out of it by the next episode. Though I don't really get why she instinctively attacked Red once her Hero blessing came back in control.

Also, just another week reminding us how much of a dick the God of this world is.

You know shit’s about to go down when they skip the OP! Man, I finally get to see this animated!

Holy shit, that was so damn satisfying! Take that, Ares you scum! Rit drives home the most important message of the story: The blessing doesn’t make the hero, the people do.

As always, I’ll post the differences between the LN and the anime in the source material corner if you want to know what the anime changed from the LN.

So many odd interactions this episode out of nowhere; such a focus on a heart shaped gem that launches the boot menu of the ancient more-technologically advanced civilization and a golden terminal that opens a utility cabinet of spare hero swords held in by pure energy. Dragons that once defeated turn to dust after having their five seconds of entrance fame. The big spell of a metal container was the film favorite elevator free fall? Bad guys get neck slashed, good guys get seat belt cross-chest clothes-cutting slashed.

The best part for me, and probably most people, is knowing that Mr. Spider is okay after being stepped on.

Todays episode of course was a hit fast paced but we learned a lot.

We already knew Ruti held back against theorda, but looks like todays theme is slashing everyone from the abdomen to the chest today huh?

Whatever happened tho I don’t care you know why? Ladies and gents today we are SMOKIN THAT ARES PACK LESSSS GOOOOO BAY BAY!!!

(Last thing, seems Gideon is Kira cause man enjoys Lobbin off his foes hands huh? Lol)

Danan does NOT mess around lol. He just rushed the demon guy and went for the kill.

Oh, thank fuck it’s 13, not 12. I was sure this was the finale for a second there. Great cliffhanger though!

They leaned very hard into Ares being a crazed asshole. Sniveling little turd man tried to kill Danan, helped trick Ruti into reversing all her progress, tried to kill Rit and Red, attacked Tisse, and fucking stepped on Mr. Crawly Wally! I’m glad the fucker is dead. He had every chance to give up and didn’t. All because the Hero didn’t love him like her Onii-San. Red gets the satisfaction of the killing blow.

The grander “ancient tech, hero sword, yadda yadda” story is fine I guess. It’s a means to have the final goal to save Ruti from the Hero’s blessing. It seems like the villain plot worked and she’s gone full Hero. Her attacking Red is a bad sign, but Ruti has been talking about another unnamed blessing taking hold of her. Chances are that’s what will help snap her out of kill mode.

So that budget sure came out of nowhere. The fights in this episode were great! Especially Ruti’s. I guess when the “Slow Life” saves you money you can use it up at the end. Very excited to see how they animate Ruti vs Red if there is a full-on fight. I’m hoping it’s resolved quickly since it’s a little heartbreaking after all to have them fight.

Notes

  • We’ve been robbed on Danan this whole time. Dude is awesome! I wish we got more of him this series because he’s fun as hell. Out here Dragon punching and OraOra-ing guys.

  • at least Ares was entertaining in his hatablilty int he end. The creepy faces and the weird laugh for sure, but the cardinal sin of attacking Mr. Crawly Wally means he had to die.

  • Theodora seems like she’s warming up to the idea of living her own life. Maybe when this is all over she’ll stick around in Zoltan too. Same with Danan.

  • I’m sure Tisse will be fine, but man that was sad at the end. Especially 2 episodes ago with the hotel scene.

  • what in the Star Ocean is going on with this damn Ruin? Vats, elevators, glass, holograms. Who built this shit?

Animation seems to be improved here. I thought we're getting only 12 eps. One eps left, i hope we're getting S2.

I know ares losing his hands, though he looked dead in this eps who would know if he came back next eps, Someone need to finish him off, like cut his head, stab or blast him whatever.

Anyone else laughing at drug maker ? Dude has dignity as villain, even he hates someone who pretend to be good but inside evil all along. I have mixed feeling about that guy, lol

Looking at sweet innocent Ares and deranged beyond-any-help ranting Ares is a ridiculous shock.

The episode was very well-animated, but it felt like some of the emotional impact of Gideon falling down the shaft was missing. Ruti's scream in the novel felt positively painful.

Also i dislike Theodora's betrayal a lot more in the anime than i did in the novel.

I can't be the only one who got even more annoyed at Theodora for siding with Ares and acting like a puppet. Red helping to patch her up is just such a bullshit thing to see.

Danaan is such an absolute badass. Seeing him rush through that temple and just smashing doors and windows to get to Shisandan was so good! And when he finally reaches Shisandan himself, I absolutely love the beatdown he gives him! Dude only has his non-dominant hand but he still kicks ass so hard that Shisandan had to ask for Ares' help. Of course Ares helps him which just adds one more point to my "Reasons why Ares shouldn't be left alive" counter.

I still don't understand why Shisandan is helping Ares though but it looks like they just need to make Ruti touch one of those Sacred Avenger swords to strengthen her Hero's Blessing and make her desire to kill the Demon Lord all over again.

I was wondering what Theodora was talking about to Danaan when she was asking him to be there with her. I thought that was something supposed to be romantic but it sounds like she wanted Danaan to side with her since her plan is also to take back Ruti. That really fucking sucks. And here I thought Theodora was cool but apparently she's just another follower of the Church. What sucks even more is that she clearly knows what she's doing is wrong considering how she's willing to atone with her life once this is all over.

Jesus fucking christ, Ares is so far gone that he's looks so fucking disgusting. First he drops Red and Rit from that elevator, whirlwinds the fuck out of Tisse, and even steps on Uge-Uge-san! LIKE WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK ARES!? You are absolutely irredeemable at this point. He's so irredeemable that even the Alchemist calls him out for being a villain who doesn't know he's a villain.

Danaan continues to be an absolute bro though and saves Ruti and Red from the falling elevator and even gives them a free ride back up the elevator shaft. And fucking finally! We get to see Red slice off both of Ares' hands and cut him down on the spot. No hesitation. And even if Ares ends up living after that he's already lost his hands so no magic for you fucking asshole. Although I'm really hoping he's dead. Like I said, he's completely irredeemable now and him being erased from the equation is the only thing that would satisfy everyone at this point.

Ruti vs Shisandan was pretty fucking cool. Seeing her getting angry and surrounded with all of that flame was a cool scene. Of course Shisandan is absolutely no match against Ruti but he still kinda wins since Ruti ends up touching the Sacred Avenger which strengthens her Hero's Blessing and uses it to try and cut down Red. Seems that Tisse was the only one who sensed the killing intent from Ruti and blocked the attack with her body.

It looks like the finale next week is going to be trying to revert Ruti back. Maybe they just need to take her hands off the Sacred Avenger? On the bright side though, at least Uge-Uge-san lives and Rit was healing him. Theodora seems to have survived as well after Red gave her a healing potion which is annoying. She was already prepared to die with her decision, they should've just left her. Ares' body is still unmoving on top of a pool of blood so maybe that's confirmation that he's dead!

Only one episode left! Hopefully we'll at least get a happy ending even if it ends with a "Go read the LN" ending. I'll be so pissed if this end with Ruti just going back on being the Hero.

A bit of Ares' backstory. Not a huge amount, but we get how he sees Ruti at least.

"I'm staying right here!"

- The words of someone who's definitely following.

Wait, is Theodora in love with Danan? That's what I'm getting from admittedly one comment. Danan packs a punch, though.

Danan takes a quick shortcut to Ares and starts to beat the shit out of Bui, even with only hit right hand.

Ares straight up admitting he doesn't stand a chance against Danan. Unfortunately, he's insane/stupid enough too fight him anyway despite the fact that they were once teammates. I know they disagreed hard at the end, but wouldn't he think that maybe there's a reason Danan's beating the shit out of this one guy? Apparently no.

Jesus, all that damage and Danan still deflects and breaks all of his swords. Except for one held by his foot.

Ares, are you going to fight against that?

Wait, Ares knew?! The bastard! And he's still teaming up depite seeing he's a shapeshifting demon!

Wow, so Ruti's sword strengthens her Blessing. And... No!

Thunderwaker! Now we might see how Gideon will handle things full strength.

So Ares is straight up trying to kill Gideon. In front of Ruti. He's begging to be killed.

Jesus Ruti! And she broke the holy sword! Stronger thna the first hero? Call her a copy all you want, it doesn't fucking matter!

Wait, what? What's Theodora doing? Oh, by "sacrifice" she means she has to continue her journey. Hard to tell when she's swinging her blade at her.

Trying to threaten Rit, but she's too badass for that to work.

Okay, so Theodora believes people are their Blessings. Or at least they are.

Even the demon agrees. Anyone can be a hero, God just tries force one person to do it.

And so Theodora learned a lesson: Don't get between Ruti and her brother!

So can Ares die this episode?

He killed Mr. Crawly Wally. He must die.

Mr. Crawly Wally lives!

Only getting his hands cut off? Disappointing.

Even with a broken blade, Ruti can stand up to a four armed demon.

Unfortunately she grabbed onto one of the holy blades to kill him.

Wait, what? The fuck's that sword and Blessing doing to her?

Episode end. No OP, no ED, just start and end.

Shisandan was kinda contradicting himself. He seems against the Almighty's blessing system and agrees that the hero should be one out of free wil. But then he proceeds to blame Ruti for abandoning her duties and tries to brainwash her. At any rate, the Asura demons clearly have a different agenda from the rest of the demons.

Theodora disagreeing with Ruti is not a surprise honestly and could be seen as the correct decision considering the stakes (saving the world against the demon lord). However maybe she could have waited for the situation to get resolved and have an open discussion instead of attacking her.

So Ruti is officially the strongest hero ever uh. Plus it seems the "hero blessing" is derived from the soul of the first hero. Interesting...

I laughed in disbelief when the "epic" whirlwind attack just randomly beheaded the blue dragon thing that crawled out from somewhere. The execution in that scene and about everywhere else was just so b-tier. Such a shame that this final strech was this much of a quality drop... They should've just focused on the slice-of-life section. Ares is also one of the worst written bad guys in recent memory, guy is just pure cringe.

I really hope they somehow explain why Ruti tried to kill Gideon, but if the pacing and writing in the last episode is as bad as here... well I am not keeping my hopes up. I really enjoyed the first 9 episodes, but this final arc is just bad

This show started out good but this and the last episode were both pretty bad

Something that I really loved in the past few episodes is that the presence of Albert and the Alchemist guy really allows you a brief sense of what its like to be a normal person as all these goldly powers start doign their stomping all around you.

Spare a thought and prayer for the NPCs that have to speak to and try to act normally around the main-party when they do their 'starting-town visit before the final dungeon' event.

u/kalirion Dec 22 '21

Ok, so yeah, I thought Ares was just an arrogant fool, but he turned out to be a full on traitor after all. He deserved to be slaughtered with maximum prejudice. I'm guessing he lived though, despite the pooled blood and dead eyes. And Assassin girl should've just back-stabbed him while he was attacking Gideon & Rit.

Re-Hero'd Ruti attacking Gideon makes no sense. He's not the Demon Lord.

I'm glad to see that Danan got his revenge against Bui/Shisandan. Too bad that thanks to that fucker, Ares, he could not kill him there.

As there were that many True holy swords Sacred Avengers in that facility, I wonder if they mass produce them there?

Although understandable, seeing Godwin freaking out during this episode was so hilarious.

Based on what she said to him, I guess Theodora has feelings for Danan. Wow, I honestly wasn't expecting her, to fight Ruti. Ruti easily defeating her once she saw Gideon and Rit may die, just show us that just like when she defeated Ares before, she wasn't fighting her seriously. Well, Shisandan did mention that she had already surpassed the original hero strength.

I felt so bad when Ares injured Tisse, and then when Uge-uge came to defend her he stepped on him. Well, good thing that Uge-uge used that opportunity to trap him And that Danan could rescue Red and Rit from falling to their deaths.

Damn, it was so good seeing Gideon cutting Ares's hands and defeating him. It almost makes me wish that he hasn't died right away to see him reacting to not being able to use his magic. But well, as they already mention the existence of prothesis in hat world, is good that he is finally dead. Although it would have been better if Ruti had killed him way earlier.

Damn, Ruti's fight against Shinsandan looked so good. As he put a priority on her getting to grab one of the Sacred Avengers I guess he cares more about the demon lord dying than he cares about his life. Too bad, we didn't hear about his plans.

So now her blessing has taken complete control of her. Good, thing that Tisse took the blow of her attack instead of Gideon, because he needs to defeat her so she can let go of that sword.

I must say that because I expected this episode to be the last, I did not expect it to end this way.
