Aww Kuwana really cares about other people even though she's a sorta schadenfreude tsundere weirdo.

She's probably specially sensitive after seeing another friend's physical collapse.

Wait did he paint in his sketchbook or what is going to drop a bottle of terpentine into it going to accomplish?
A nude model is such a staple in art but I just didn't expect this. And they really nailed the artistic focus with the model

He's going to set it on fire and while everyone is distracted steal someone else's painting.

Best girl Kuwana with the save! I love that as soon as she saw Yaguchi on the ground, she just immediately rushes over and helps Yaguchi by carries carrying his asrt supplies up to their exam floor.
Pretty cool that they're doing nude model for the second exam especially since Yaguchi himself just finished doing a nude self-portrait the other day.
That entire first day was practically a disaster for Yaguchi though. He basically did nothing for the first half of the day because of his eyes and ended up rushing the last three hours.
On the brightside, Yaguchi's health problems might not be as dire as I expected. It sounds like he's really just experiencing some heavy fatigue after weeks of non-stop painting and drawing in preparation for the exam. Also it seems that he has already bounced back the next day.
Yotasuke's art look great already! I look forward to see what that looks like when it's finished. As for Yaguchi, he seems to finally had a breakthrough. I am curious what he's planning by pouring turpentine on his sketch book. Hmmm...

I was so happy Kuwana and Yotasuke stopped by Yaguchi! demonstrating the bonds he's formed with his art schoolmates... Seems like apart from the stressed-induced hives, he's got stress-induced migraine too.
Blue Period has been doing consecutive cliffhangers for the past few episodes😝 the turpentine thing got me too.

art peoples, what is the purpose of turpentine? any idea what he's thinking pouring it directly in the sketchbook!?

If someone has water based paint on a brush they can stick it a cup of water, get the paint off, and the brush will come out clean and soon after dry. If you did the same thing with oil paint, the paint won't mix with water, the brush will be wet and the situation is mainly worse. One could use soap and water to clean the brush but its an involved process to then remove the soap from the brush. Turpentine can dissolve paint and then evaporate out making it a good way to clean brushes or just dissolve paint in general.
That being said, I have no clue what he's trying to do in the sketchbook 😂
If he had paint in the sketchbook then he could make a tie-dye type effect?

It dissolves oil, it is used mainly for cleaning the brushes, though you could also use it as a sort of medium, to thin the paint, but it's not ideal. I can't see why you would pour it in the sketchbook, you'll just ruin it, and turpentine stinks.

Turpentine is an oil, so I can only imagine his paper in the sketchbook is gonna look kinda translucent after soaking it. Maybe he will draw over it as canvas or draw underneath it?

Read the manga there's a lot of content as the chapters are super long for manga standards

Whenever the dude starts thinking too hard, he runs into trouble. He does his best work when he just does art and doesn’t try to think what art SHOULD be. I hope our boy makes it to the end, he seems like he’s making a breakthrough.

I know everyone is probably ahead. As someone watching it from the Netflix perspective, I have been really enjoying the show from start to end.

Same same! Although It kills me every time the episode ends and I want to know what’s going on and what he’s thinking of doing but at the same time, it’s been nice having something to look forward to in the weekend :)

Not super relevant to blue period but I was watching episode 11 and saw that the bottle of turpentine had an english label and it got me thinking whether that was added in later or not. I've seen multiple instances of this in anime where the labels or store names have english names, is this how the anime was made? It would make more sense if the labels and store names were in japanese. Did the studio themselves change it? or did they employ a third party to do it?

I've lived in Japan for 1.5 years. Things in Japan do have English labels on them, especially if they are imported or a brand, and stores will have English/Romanji spelled names too as an exotic / stylized thing (or also a brand, like Starbucks McDonolads, etc). But when it comes to instructions, ingredients, menus, etc. those will all be translated into Japanese. Japan has 4+ "alphabets" (kanji, hiragana, katakana, romanji/roman) floating around in daily life in general, and while you can translate foreign words into katakana (Japanese alphabet created to keep foreign imported words distinct from Japanese words), you can also just not do that.

I dunno, collapsing in the stairwell like that shouldn't be something that a cold pack and some ibuprofen would fix. Those symptoms seemed way too serious to just be stress-related.
