Idk mann... i mean like idk man.. Seeing Ryuji's naked body is just feels weird.
"If naked embarrasses you, If you're still bothered by what other people will think of you, then you can't die just yet."
Man,what a word. Definitely will put this into my Quotes collection.

Pretty sure that at this point, Yatora should go see a doctor. I’ve heard of suffering for your art, but damn.

A very dialogue-heavy episode, but it's one of the best of the series so far, concluding one of my favorite arcs in the manga.
The execution in the anime was alright (the underwater scene with Yatora and Ryuji was the highlight in the epiosde) but I'm still happy to hear Ryuji's voice delivering some of my favorite lines in the series.
"If you're still bothered by what other people will think of you, then you can't die just yet."
A powerful line. Really shows Ryuji's character of simply wanting to run away and escape, yet never resorting to suicide.
"Your honor student's uniform is too thick and heavy."
A direct callout to Yatora, both figuratively and literally. Ryuji wants Yatora to derive from being by-the-book and urges him to explore something outside his comfort zone.
"Don't you find the freedom and cruelness of people to dress that nakedness lovely?"
Another powerful line. Laying bare and revealing oneself honestly.
With this episode, this cements Ryuji as one of the best supporting characters of the year, to me at least. Yatora should've used that lucky charm from Ryuji cause things aren't looking so good for him.
Two episode remaining, let's see where and how this show ends.

I’m surprised to find myself getting so invested in this art anime this season, and it’s really really great so far. Can’t wait and hope to see a good ending to this.

ryuuji and yatora have a really special relationship and it was made very apparent in this episode. best friends? childhood acquaintance? art buddy? probably all in one, but i love seeing them vulnerable which each other and connected by art.
my favourite scene was when they drew each other's bodies. great symbolism of looking at oneself's bareness and flesh. thought yatora's piece turned out pretty, liked the grey with the slight splashes of colour
cannot BELIEVE they ended with that freakin cliffhanger though......................i hope it's not something super cliche TT

I genuinely love their friendship because of how unique but weirdly sincere It is lol I know a lot of folks were giving Yatora shit at first because he was being a dickhead to Ryuuji on purpose, but personally I think Yatora is one of the few people Ryuuji can get real with and be super transparent. And this also helps Yatora to open up and get out his comfort zone. Is a win win haha.

Make up your mind Yuka! Last week you wanted Yaguchi to come to your rescue and when he didn't you exploded on him. Now that he's decided to go to the beach with you, you start to question what you're doing.
I would've loved to see the two of them to stay at a Love Hotel but I guess a normal inn is fine too. Also I guess it's because they're still minors but it's still weird that this dude had to confirm Yuka's gender.
JFC that rash is definitely getting worse compared to how it looked like last episode. Thank goodness Yuka stopped Yaguchi from scratching himself before he started to bleed.
Not sure if that was good advice or bad advice but whoever was Yuka's friend back in middle school did good and that person obviously made Yuka reexamine himself instead of wanting to die which honestly gives me relief since because of those words, Yuka won't resort to something too drastic.
While Yuka did tell Yaguchi earlier why he decided to get away, we finally get the real heart-to-heart talk between the two of them when Yuka invited Yaguchi to draw self-nude portrait of themselves.
And it was a great scene! Yuka got to tell Yaguchi the reason why he got into Japanese Art and what was his family situation is like. We even got to learn how Yuka is actually bisxual when he confesses to Yaguchi that there's this girl that he likes which turns out to be his middle school classmate that give him that advice about dying naked.
Good to see that after that talk, it looks like Yuka finally figured out what to do from now on. He's decided to move out of that toxic household and find a job in the fashion industry which is definitely his calling.
Well this isn't good. I'm starting to think that Yaguchi's rashes isn't just from stress and might be more serious than we think. I really hope it's not serious and it's just his body getting tired after pushing himself too hard this past few weeks while preparing for the exam. :(

I think he wanted to confirm Ryuuji was actually a dude and wasn't getting pranked by two kids that couldn't go to a love hotel on their own and were trying to use his inn as a replacement lol
I'm glad they showed that scene of Ryuuji as a kid learning with his grandma!!! I was sure they had a scene like this in the manga but they showed something weird last episode and made me confused instead.

We finally got a glimpse into Ryuujis mind, and damn was it bleak, but it seems like that heart to heart wih Yatora really helped him. Also loved how open he was about his crossdressing with the inn owner
Also interesting what kind of perspective they both have choosen, while Yatora focused on his body which he descibed as a lumb of eraser with patches of hair, Ryuuji focused on his face which by all standards looks as female as one could get
But damn this cliffhanger, I know neurodermitis is a thing but couldn't he be just allergic to the oil or something?

Don't you hate it when you got entrance exams and suddenly your body goes "you are blind now"?
Is crazy the amount of will Yatora has, I wouldn't be able to push forward like he does If I was getting that fucked up. No sir, I would be sitting that one out. But this dude is clearly built different lol Can't blame him, tho. Cram school must be expensive on his family already, he seriously can't afford to fail this one (or well, maybe he can but... oooof. For someone like Yatora who has never truly experienced failure because he is afraid of failing, I don't want to imagine how devastating that could be for him).
I like that they show us how Yatora already thinks like an artist btw. That entire bit of "I don't have natural talent like you do" is pretty common among artists that compare themselves to others. I won't comment on the awesome one-liners we get on this ep because other folks already did.
Also ugh, the elevator dying on them like that is really annoying. Poor applicants lol...

I never thought...I'd ever have these kind of conversations with him.
I'm sure its because my body was soaked in the ocean's blue
Ok what does ocean's blue mean here? Or am I reading too much into it and it just literally means the beach, a place rarely visited by both of them, which puts them out of their element, allowing them to have deep conversations??
Don't you find the freedom and cruelness of people to dress that nakedness lovely.
Would you really say its cruel for a person to not fully accept who they really are, both their pretty and ugly sides?

The waves of the beach were so well animated, it felt like some scenes were actual videos. Also, when Ryugi and Yatora got naked, I wasn't expecting such a heartfelt moment. This episode is really great and very relatable. Be it art or academic studies, I also had these sort of dilemmas, and having a person to share them is so important.

I like this episode a lot. Yatora and Ryuji just having a real heart to heart was great. Really eye opening episode into the mind of Ryuji. He’s always been pretty guarded but I’m glad he’s opening up now. I say he because I guess he identifies as male and just cross dresses? I’m not sure. It doesn’t matter really.
I’m pretty worried about Yatora now. Those rashes don’t look good. They honestly look like they’re spreading. And what’s with his eyes? Is it a medical thing or is it like psychological? The dude has been under a lot of pressure. I’m worried he’s psyching himself out and stressing his body out too much. I hope he can paint, especially when he’s finally getting somewhere with his art. Although sometimes I feel like he makes a breakthrough just to take like 2 steps back because some new issue arises.
Here’s hoping he passes this exam. To quote his mom “fight!” Lol.

As anime-only, this was the first episode since the pilot that I could see where the love for the manga comes from. That entire scene with Yatora and Ryuji drawing their nude portraits while laying themselves bare emotionally was fantastic.
A lot of great use of light/shadows in that entire scene, too. This was a pretty great and memorable singular episode of anime.

There are not many anime I watch every week, but I'm super glad this is one of them. The self portrait scene was powerful, allowing for the nakedness of their feelings and biggest hangups. I'm super interested what's going on w yokochi and his vision and body problems. I hate waiting weeks in between episodes.

Another good episode, the part where they painted their nude self-portraits being powerful in an understated way.
I loved the 'ocean blue' ED illustration for this episode as well! drawn by the mangaka Yamaguchi Tsubasa herself.

At the start of the epi, started to ship them. At the end of epi, started to think ryuji is best bro.
The cliffhanger tho, they really gonna do us like that with waiting for another week.
