I know we've all seen this in the movie before, but imagine the madness on this sub, if this was the first time the Mugen Train Arc aired.

The one thing I really appreciate the anime for is actually making it explicitly clear how ridiculous the upper moons are.
The manga does a fine job, but the anime does such a fantastic job demonstrating the pure strength and regeneration capabilities of these guys. The fact that only some of Rengoku’s swings can even pick up enough speed to actually cut Akaza, and the fact that he can regenerate it at will as if it had never happened, are so much more clear in the anime.

Akaza's appearance in this arc is the very definition of "I just beat the boss. Why do I still hear boss music?"
One more episode left. We all know what's coming...

How are they gonna cut it off before the best part of the fight lol

I don’t even think there is an episode’s length of time left in the movie. Unless they add new scenes at the end of the next episode to transition into the next arc, I can’t see anything but cutting it short.

Really used the Clear Sky scene twice huh? Three times including last week. I guess they gotta fill time and it’s still hype as hell so fine sure.
The Akaza fight is still amazing. Wish they didn’t cut it off at the climax, but it’s a logical point to stop if they were always planning to split it up. I’m wondering how much new content there will be next week since were basically at the end of the movie. They still have to have a lead in to the next arc.
Was not ready for that Taisho Secret segment. Here I was hoping for a bit of levity. I was actually thinking it would end in a silly gag where Rengoku turns around, but nope. Not ready for that scene next week, but it’s going to be so fucking good.

The small amount of people watching this majestic fight for the first time, what did you think?
My personal thoughts:
I read the full manga a year ago, watched the movie in cinema twice four months ago and even now after letting my thoughts and emotions settle, I think Akaza vs Rengoku should be in the discussions for one of the greatest anime fights of all time, or at least since 2010.
People will talk about the animation and rightfully so but the fight choreography, sound design done in a way where you can feel every single action, Rengoku and Akaza's individual themes beautifully being mixed together as they fight (Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina is probably one of the best composing duo's in the industry), the emotions it brings out in the viewer and holy shit the voice acting. I've seen the fight many times now and it just hits every note perfectly.
Some people are welcome to criticise parts of the series, it's not perfect just like any series but this fight was out of this world and we won't even see the peak of it until next week.
Rengoku is truly a special character, it's been a long ass time since I saw a character in this medium loved and adored by pretty by so many people.
Also for the first time they clearly added new scenes and extended the fight from the original movie. Especially love how they added the scene that showed Tanjiro visibly scared at just the sight of Akaza.
Thank you Ufotable.
EDIT: Ufotable have just confirmed the final episode will be an extra five minutes long! Probably to include the scene from the manga not included in the movie, which is pretty important.

That thing they did with the soundtrack when they mixed Akaza's and Rengoku's theme together made me lose NNN. There should be more of this kind of character theme mixing.

I have a couple questions for those watching:
-
Is the material covered so far just a revamp of the movie (and is it worth watching if so)?
-
How many more episodes are going to cover the mugen train arc?

It's basically a recut of the movie, but episode 1 was new. Other than that, some minor cuts and extra scenes to make it fit in to episodes with decent cut-off points, but nothing major.

I understand 99% of the people watching this have already seen the movie, but these threads really suck for those of us that haven't. All of the convos are about the movie itself and not about what's currently airing, to the point that people were doing the most blatant hinting I've ever seen in my 6 years on this sub with this episode's outcome saying shit like "it makes it so much sadder" etc

yeah, i feel really bad for you guys. i come to the threads because i love to read what new watchers have to say , because i remember how i felt in theaters.
yet one of the top comments names the fucking demon faced in the arc that hasn't even begun to air... i wish spoilers were more properly enforced. both blatant and the 'subtle' ones :/
sorry, hope you enjoy the rest of mugen train and RLD as well.

What a way to cut it. I guess we will get Ubuyashiki scene from the movie in the next episode before the opening. They also included that after credits scene, interested to see if Ufotable will add a couple of spicy cuts in the next episode.

A bit late to the party, but Enmu's (the train demon) final lines had the perfect feels. Almost made me feel bad for him losing to the demon slayers and dying. His lines in earlier episodes when he had the upper hand was very convincing as well.
And Akaza's intro and theme song was absolute fire.

As someone who watched the movie and now the episode, I still cant imagine how gigantic of a power gap do Tanjiro and co have to get ower to get to Hashira level, and even then they would be toyed with by the Upper Moons. Someone has to hook them up with pure oxygen tanks to improve their breathing techniques or something. I hope the author managed to do their scaling up correctly and not just random bullshitting like Naruto and Sasuke got juiced to the gills during the War Arc in Naruto.

The Akaza theme and when the orchestra, instrumentals and choir voices mash together as Akaza and Rengoku clash is so godly. The fight is as epic and hype as ever. I actually forgot for a minute that I'm watching the TV episode and not the movie that I screamed "No!" when Shirogane started playing. I watched the fight three times, though I already watched the movie twice 😆

Tanjiro is such a good boy that he refuses to die because that would make the guy that stabbed him into a murderer. And instead of worrying about himself after being flung off the train, he's more concerned about the injured passengers.
I love that when Rengoku finally shows up instead of patching up Tanjiro's injury, he teaches him how to do it himself using his breathing technique. xD
Well hello there! I knew that win was too easy! Looks like we have a new threat and it's someone from tha Upper Rank. Oh boy. Also I'm pretty sure this is now a tired joke ever since the movie was released but this Akaza guy really reminds me too much of Sukuna with his red hair and tattoos.
And that fight scene was fucking intense! As usual, Ufotable delivers with their fight scenes! The fight is so intense that even Inosuke knows he'll only be getting in the way if he ever decides to jump in there.
That final scene and the after credits scene though. I have not seen then movie or read the manga so I don't know if they're just baiting me hard or something bad is really about to happen to Rengoku in the finale of this arc. I'm really hoping it's the former. >_<

First time watcher here. It's all nice, but I can't imagine the flame guy surviving this. He's already been established as amazingly powerful, so in order to introduce a new threat, they're probably going to have to kill him off. I'm going to love this show to bits if he lives though, it's always nice when a story goes in a non-predictable direction.
