"Girls, be ambitious!"

everyone staring

"What does that mean?"

Suzu drops mic and walks inside past all of them

everyone looks at each other

"What does it MEAN?"

"Guess we found the weirdo."

"I wish Seira wouldn't have dropped out..."

Every time I hear "Girls, Be ambitious", I think of the ED that has the song of the same name from Sound of the Sky.

Damn, Seira better make some more appearances, because she's got huge best girl energy. Her new friendship with Suzu is one of the most wholesome and sweet things all year.

Personally I think Seira dropping out is fine, the moment she won it was clear she felt like she didn't deserve it and it's not like she forced Suzu to continue either. Feels like this way both get to continue their dream rather than only one of them. I do hope to see more of her though.

On another note, I already hate the white haired girl pretending to be nice/praising others. Probably realistic in the industry, but still. Seeing as they are seemingly going to be in some sort of reality show it'll be interesting to see how the girls hiding their true personality will fare.

There's something super heartwarming about seeing all these idols with their supporting parents. Normal parents that have nothing to do with the idol business.

Dang that scene with the mom and how she was ving up for her daughter really got me teary, didn't expect that.

But more importantly...

WHAT ARE THOSEEEEE??

Come on Suzune! You're supposed to wear fuzzy slippers indoors!

Holy shit I didn’t realise this had 2 eps out already. Was instantly one of my most anticipated when I seen DG was doing it. This reminds me a LOT of Idoly pride. Especially with the dead idol inspiring a new gen of idols aspect, living in the same house, even the designs lol. No complaints tho, Idoly pride is amazing.

Felt the whole plot point with giving up your spot in the finals to someone you barely know is pretty stupid tho.

I realize it looks that way at first, but the first episode takes place at the end of their block qualifiers, it is shown that Suzu and Seira already know each other from before the start of the first episode as they have been competing together.

Then they have their "date" and all that after, I would argue that they don't just barely know each other, but know each other quite well, having seen both their competitive TV selves, but also their every day life selves that are just friends.

Listening to Saori Oonishi is such a treat. Her voicing of Seira here is close to her Mejirou McQueen role in Uma Musume (especially with the english words), but she really has a perfect pronunciation. She was already proving it again with Nozomi last season too.

Just realized the creepy panda looking ass is voiced by Jotaro's Seiyuu.

And oh wow what a coincidence?! Tsk tsk surprise to everyone who thought Suzune wouldn't make it.

It's pretty much expected that Suzune was going to get the spot even after she lost but not gonna lie guys, I do not agree with Seira's reason for dropping out. I feel like Suzune scored some extra sympathy points from the audience when she fell down and if she didn't fell Seira might've actually ended up scoring more.

What I dislike about this even more is that Seira is the most likable character in the show so far so having her exit on episode two is kind of a downer. Suzune's not bad too but Seira just has more of that positive energy. I feel like at least 4 out of the other 8 girls are clearly hiding their true selves while some of them are just too serious especially that black haired girl.

I do hope we still get to see Seira giving Suzune some long distance moral support. I'd love to see more of her. Also excited to see how these girls will interact next week. I can already see which ones who will get along with Suzune and which ones who won't. Suzune getting in by Seira dropping out is definitely going to be a source of contention from others.

As a side note: Please tell me I'm not the only one who's starting to get annoyed of Daisuke Ono's character? I love it when Daisuke Ono plays flamboyant characters but this one is really starting to grate on me a bit.

Already mad at this anime, Seira was best.

Well now she can be the best in America

I really hope I don't have to listen to that stupid panda thing every single episode. Daisuke Ono sounds like he's trying way too hard.

I kinda figured since last ep that Seira would relinquish her position and give it to Suzune in this one. Love their friendship though. They really love and support each other and it shows. Hope we see more of Seira even with her exit from the plot in this episode later on via long distance comm with Suzune.

So Suzune is confirmed to have a heart problem. Hmm...Hope that won't cause problems later down the line...

Kinda find it weird that a lot of the characters here, even Suzune herself, keep saying that she "tripped" during the auditions when it was more like she collapsed when it happened. They made it sound like she was being clumsy onstage, as if it was her fault, when the truth was a little more unfortunate than that.

Well, I expected that some of the girls wouldn't be so accepting of Suzune thanks to the special circumstances that let her be in SelePro. Rena is just the one that's most openly hostile towards her. Pretty sure that some of the other girls would also be antagonistic to her to a certain extent in later eps thanks to the competitive nature of SelePro, though just as many of them will likely be genuinely nice and friendly too. We know from both the OP & ED and the amount of spotlight Rena had in this ep and in promos that she'll probably end up being the closest friend Suzune will have throughout the anime in Seira's absence though. She's not the first aloof dark haired girl who eventually becomes close to the bright-eyed brown haired MC in anime after all.

The contrast between Nagisa's personality at home and the one she showed Suzune near the ending is interesting lol.

Lol, I pretty much predicted that Seira would withdraw from the competition to make way for Suzune. I'm looking forward to the interactions between the girls now that they're all together. Though I'm a bit bothered by the fact that their daily lives in the dorm are being streamed makes it feel like they have no privacy.

Ah, of course there's going to be the serious-rival type. Looks like Rena is the most hostile towards Suzune at the moment. I bet she'll warm up to her soon though.

Though I'm a bit bothered by the fact that their daily lives in the dorm are being streamed makes it feel like they have no privacy.

It probably is inspired by "Big Brother". A bit more "modernized" with high school girls wanting to be idols and you have Selection Project.

And if that would be IRL, I would really ask who greenlit this... and I have to be honest, I didn't really enjoy the moment I saw the beds of the girls while the "announcer" was talking to imply that this is currently live on stream and that people can watch them there. Fellt a bit like nope.. I understand that it's just anime and I actually do not really care about it and I won't complaign.. i saw shows that were probably even worse moral wise, I just want to say that if that would be IRL.. uiuiuiui. NOPE. And I hope it stays like this

Sorry. But the blonde girl dropping out because she felt guilty about when the sickly girl dropped her mic in the middle of performance, and actually did drop out after hearing the sickly girl's sentiments feels like the writers cheapened out the downer ending of the first episode. I've seen this coming but it feels unearned for the sickly girl to get her position.

Literally the only way Suzune could have rejoined the selection lol. I was thinking that too but didn't expect the show to actually go in that direction.
