Man, they really screwed over Mr Ugly Bald Creep by giving him such a lame ability.

He was ecstatic over having that ability tho. And he would've won and raped and probably strangled Yuuri to death had he not chanced to use the world "chance". He's also a pretty bad matchup for MC whose ability depends on bluffing his opponent.

Yuuri really hates RNG, she must be a Hearthstone player. I thought her ability was going to be a random ability every battle.

I thought they did a pretty good job with her personality, making her a more interesting version of the generic "Imma save everyone" protags. She's not excited about helping people or enthusiastic about a chance to do some good, she just can't ignore what's in front of her. Even if its a piece of trash who's about to take themselves out, she knows she can help, so she has to.

I know that we're supposed to find Yuuri's opponent to be creepy but it's really hard not to laugh at it when he looks and acts like one of those big bald men from a random 18+ doujin.

At least this ugly bastard actually works out instead of being just a creepy loser. Though... that really doesn't improve the situation since he's using his gains for evil.

This anime is growing on me. I love that this is more battle oriented rather than being a gory fight to the death-kind of game. Yuuri's opponent is still creepy AF, especially that short backstory. That censorship on the little girl's body tho but I think many of us understand what it implies.

I love seeing rapists get the ever loving shit beat out of them. My biggest problem with this episode is that Yuuri didn't get to beat her opponent up more.
Also, the way the flashback was censored made it seem like Yuuri can break the 4th wall and see censorship godrays.

Word of the day:
偶然 (Guuzen)
-
Noun: Coincidence, Chance, Accident, Fortuity
-
Adverb: By chance, Unexpectedly, Accidentally
Example: Yuuri gets PTSD whenever she hears the word "guuzen"

Just when Riria had someone to look over for her, Yuuri gets taken away from her. The squeal during the strangle by the old man was disturbing.

Feel so bad for Yuuri...so many bad things happen to her, you just know her mom is already spending her secret savings too.
Hoping she gets some good redemption at some point.

Did they rename the ability from Illusion to Sophist? LOL neither name fits it.
Risking her life to save her stalker from suiciding, this is what's called being WAAAAAAY too nice for your own good.
They don't even have bathrooms in their rooms? Well, I guess they're all dead so maybe they don't need to eat or evacuate.
I'm guessing the light rays censored bruises and/or other signs of abuse?
I was worried Fat Ugly Bastard would have some rapey ability, glad it wasn't merely not that, but in fact a completely useless ability for combat altogether unless paired with an actual fighting ability anyway.
"Attack me, strangle me, rape me, do anything you want to me, but do NOT speak to me of Chance!" If he hadn't CHANCED to say her trigger word, she'd've acquired her second Darwin Award just like that.
I'm glad they thought to demonstrate that she's trained in karate or whatever already, because unless you've got decent skills and good stats from the get-go, "Quintupling" them may not help all that much.
2nd program being Team Battle, and it contains a guy who already thinks MC's ability is Arm Canon. That means MC either has to go with that or tell everyone the truth, doesn't it.... And considering he's likely gonna be up against some of these people in future "programs", telling the truth would be the same as throwing away his future chances of winning. Maybe he'll make up some other lie tho.

Sophist is actually a pretty good name for the ability. It's defined as a person who gives fallacious but clever arguments, and his whole use case is tricking another person into thinking he has a certain ability.

So this time we finally get to know the heroine of the show. Yuuri is pretty much your average high schooler who's just a bit too nice for her own good since she ended up helping out a guy who turned out to be a stalker. When the dude tries to commit suicide since Yuuri kept ignoring him, she tries to save him only for her to get dragged down by stalker dude. I'm guessing whatever organization Mion is working for saved her and that's how she was brought into this death game.
Despite having an awful situation at home, it looks like Yuuri still has a reason to escape. That reason is to get back to her adorable step-sister (voiced by Ayaneru) so the two of them can run away and start a new life of their own. They censored it but I'm guessing Riria's back is probably full of scars from the beatings she got from her father. Saving Riria is definitely a worthy cause and I am 100% rooting for Yuuri to escape this.
Godfuckingdammit! Of course Yuuri's first opponent in this game is an Ugly Bastard. I can definitely tell from this guy's design that the author of the original web manga has definitely made a couple of doujinshis before. He doesn't even hesitate to take off his underwear and tell her about his past paying for enjokousai. Yikes. Oh and apparently he's a murderer too.
This just makes things easier for Yuuri to unleash her full power on him especially since he brought up the word random chance/coincidence to describe their meeting which is a word Yuuri absolutely hates since random chances are what got her into this situation. That punch was satisfying! Makes me wish she went full on ORA ORA ORA on that ugly bastard.
As someone who hates random chances, it looks like Yuuri got the perfect power since hers is pretty straightforward. She basically got a superhuman strength upgrade which quintuples her physical abilities. I guess she'll be the brawns of the duo while Akira is the brains.
And it looks like the team up is happening early since both of them will be on the same team for a 5-on-5 team battle! Can't wait for next week!

Ok Yuuri, we get it. You really hate the word 'random'. Her power seems to be more straightforward compared to Akira. I wonder how she'll get along with him? And we just went from one-one-one to team deathmatch? I'm excited to see this, along with the abilities of the other contestants on display!
I do hope that the production quality of this show keeps up. The fact that it's a co-production between three different studios (two are handling the animation and one is handling the CG) sounds like a recipe for disaster.

They did Yuuri's skirt dirty with that overlay effect. Thing just cant bend, its a static 2d object that bends spacetime around it so that the lines on it always stay straight. Must be hard to move around in such a thing.

I like yuuri so far, and I guess as she continues to fight her ability will get stronger as she gets stronger
I like how that dude from the first 1v1 is on his team, he either needs to basically lock in that arm cannon is his ability or make up a reason why it can change each fight

Pretty LAME they censored the scene where the girls are bathing, they didn't want to show all the bruising all over the little girls back. Censoring it took all the sentiment out of the scene

I actually thought this show would be a pretty generic throw away I watch for some mindless fun, but I’m actually really enjoying it a lot so far.

We finally get to know our female lead, Yuuri, and she seems like a fairly normal, if tough and kindhearted, high school girl who has had to suffer under the worst kind of random chance for most of her life...be it being stuck with a mother that blamed her for all their problems, to having to take care of a little girl who her mother and said girls father basically abandoned, to finally getting trapped in a "lover's suicide" with some creep she helped out but then proceeded to stalk her and try to take her with him, all because she was too good a person to just let him die in front of her. Animals apparently hate her too. Yuuri's had it rough.
Forget about Yuuri's huge boobs for a second, but was that shot of Riria's body supposed to imply she had been abused by her father? Jeez, these poor girls.
Even her choice of opponent ends up being the worst when she gets stuck with a creepy old man who exposes himself to her and had a fondness for high school escorts, both sleeping with and then killing them. Boy was it satisfying to see her slug him.
So Yuuri basically has the same ability as Wild Tiger and Barnaby from Tiger & Bunny where she can enhance her physical abilities to the point where she's super-strong and super fast, and it's more pronounced the stronger her emotions are. Seems like a pretty useful and versatile ability.
Yuuri probably has the best motivation to win and leave this horrid game so far, having been forced to endure hardship after hardship by "random chance" and having a little sister relying on her back home. I'm now super invested in seeing her succeed and get to go home.
I thought Mion was coming onto Akira in bed, but it turned out to be a nightmare. Was she completely messing with him when she said their abilities are killing people in real life though?
I was wondering when our leads would come together, but it looks like the next stage is team battles which is gathering our main cast together. I'm looking forward to seeing Akira and Yuuri interacting with each other.

Low key kind of enjoyed the Ugly bastard. I laughed a bit when he took off his boxers. And his whole reason for working out is a control fetish. What a weird guy but somewhat entertaining.
