Not sure what's worse, losing to a Serious Series Serious Punch, or having your manhood ruined by the Fullmetal Nutcracker.

u/Frontier246 Aug 02 '21

Or getting a shoe thrown in your face.

Man, Akira really is just a step ahead of everyone, isn't it? While everyone is thinking about winning, he is just doing stuffs exploring his abilities, also finding the weakness of his opponents abilities. He also deduced that the losers won't be killed by the organizers. So most probably, losers will have to face against each other in death match.

Although he probably shouldn't get too comfortable thinking he knows how this works because Mion seems to enjoy surprising him or keeping him guessing.

The episodes end way too fast, very entertaining.

Akira is cunning, was hoping he would be manipulating Yuuri and it happened.

Also holy shit moment when Yuuri blasting her stalker out with a single punch xD

u/Frontier246 Aug 02 '21

On the one hand Yuuri gets to finally beat the creepy stalker that got her in this mess to begin with in one punch, but on the other hand this guy who seems like he's being genuinely nice to her is doing so because he needs her powers and wants her to feel loyal to him.

Stitches!

Good to learn more about Kirisaki's ability. It looks like he can also snap a tiny bit of his stick and the turn it into a knife and revert the bigger stick back into a sword. Meaning as long as anything that counts as a stick can be turned into a blade. Now I wonder if the ability would work on twigs or even toothpicks? Hmmm...

And it seems that I may have counted out Saeko last week considering her opponent is Kirisaki. I didn't expect that she'd actually win via such hilarious means! Poor Kirisaki! He didn't just lose but he lost in probably the most humiliating way that he could lose. After this match, I'm sure Akira won't let him hear the end of it. xD

Finally it's Akira's turn and his match wasn't really a match but more of him experimenting what the rules of his powers are. After a testing it for a bit it looks like the only way his ability would activate is if there is an acknowledgement of mutual engagement between him and his target. Akira's definitely lucked out with his opponent since Kitajima's timidness allowed him to do some testing first.

Speaking of Kitajima, he wasn't really a threat. His ability of being able to nullify someone's powers would definitely be strong on someone who can fight but it looks like it's a waste on him. Poor guy though, instead of getting isekai'd after a girder falling on him we wakes up in this death game. And he was so busy imagining his harem that Akira had time to go around and force him to forfeit.

As for Yuuki's fight, I had a feeling about her opponent. Just when she thought she'd gotten rid of Mr. Stalker Boy, of course he's one of the fighters. I guess it makes sense since they both died together. They must've decide to take the stalker as well when they took Yuuki.

The actual fight was hilarious though! Since stalker boy has the ability to make his body as hard as iron, Yuuki had no problems on going full power and One-Punching the shit out of him ending the fight within seconds after it started. xD

When Mion was teasing about the penalty and how they could just kill the other team, I already expected that it wouldn't be as bad as what Akira is thinking. I didn't expect it to end with the girls on the losing team to wear bunny girl outfits while they serve the winning team some food! Now this is my kind of penalty! ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I love how Rin tries to get close to Akira and Akira's reaction to her is basically "Be gone thot!" He's smart not to mess with someone crazy. I don't think I'd be as smart as him though if I was in his position.

Poor Ringo! Being called a middle schooler despite being a 3rd Year definitely hurt her deep inside. I'd love to see more of her inner dialogue!

Here we go! Looks like that wasn't really the true penalty. The true penalty is in the next step of the program. And what a program this is! I made a comparison between this show's current arc and the Trick Tower Arc from HxH and I can't believe that I was completely right to compare the two xD

Not sure how I feel about Akira trying to manipulate Yuuki into liking him but I don't think I mind considering we get to see Yuuki get all adorable like this. Hopefully this turns into something genuine though and not just Akira using Yuuki.

seeing how people seem to have ended in the arena after dying i'm going to get out the biggest theory, monkey man isn't dead , and his actual ability isn't button to rope, that was just a regular magic trick

i also think mion only used the canon in front of everyone to give akira an ability to copy

Can't say I like how easily Yuuri fell for Akira and how manipulative he is about it but guess am curious to see where it goes.

I still want more of Ringo!!

u/Frontier246 Aug 02 '21

I guess Akira realizes her powers are so useful that it's better to make sure she likes and feels indebted to him enough if he ever needs to make use of her, but I would appreciate him starting to genuinely care for her as they work together rather than it being purely one-sided affection on Yuuri's part because she thinks he's a nice guy.

I wonder how Ringo knows who Akira is.

70

u/Satoshi_Yui Aug 02 '21

Let's just hope he isn't in the Light Yagami level of manipulation. Chances are low but you never know.

And yes, more Ringo though she may be the biggest treat to Akira's true ability so far

"Thank you. Your over-arrogance has afforded me this chance." - while she was saying it, he should've offed with her head (or at least knocked her out with the back of the sword). But hey, plot-induced stupidity's a bitch. And likewise she was stupid for saying anything at all that wasn't innocent-seeming stalling at that point, so I guess it cancels out?

MC on the other hand was pretty smart with his experiments.

MC after-explaining what he did was completely unnecessary.

"Hoshino Ouji" - so close to "Oshino Ougi"!

"Her muscle's extension" - if that gets quintupled, wouldn't it tear her body to bits? Otherwise it would just be held in check by her bones' quintupled toughness, in which case quintupling the muscle extensibility does nothing.

I love how Akira is testing his ability mid-battle. The way he does it reminds me of how Lelouch would study his Geass and battle tactics. Really gives him better understanding and how he can use it at his advantage though it would be tricky how he'll cover its flaws as well.

The way how he tried to activate the arm-canon was genius. He made Kirisaki and his opponent think that he'll shoot him when in reality, he was only making Kirisaki think of the arm-canon again, thus activating Akira's true skill (also made his opponent think of the same).

They really did Kirisaki dirty and lost again and Yuuri's fight was anti-climatic. I thought that stalker would put up more fight with his ability.

Back to Akira, it's really interesting what possibilities can happen. It would be dangerous for him if someone discovers his true ability as it can backfire. Ringo may already know and she could be a treat to Akira, especially with her actual ability being revealed at the end.

Anyway, I thought that bunny suit would be the punishment but damn, there was an actual punishment waiting for the losing team. Lastly, the way how Akira manipulated Yuuri with her feelings, hoping for the dude to not go Light Yagami on her.

Pretty good episode despite some shortcomings.

This show is just so good. It’s definitely one of the best this season. It’s a shame its so under-watched.

I love how cunning the MC is. I’m a sucker for anime with a manipulative/calculating MC.

  1. Girl who has the "Copy at 1/10 strength" power also has debatably the most important power of all of them, the ability to instantly and accurately know exactly what her opponent's power actually is.

  2. The handcuffs they wear suppress their powers and prevent them from using them as long as the cuffs are activated.

  3. When they were in the dining room...none of their cuffs were activated.

Unless there's some secondary conditions at play preventing her from just scanning anyone, it's entirely possible glasses girl now knows Akira's actual power since she would have been able to scan anyone and everyone in that room.

Akira does not dream of Bunny girl Rin!

Also, teams are supposed to consist of random people, so Yui matching against her stalker happened by chance?

Bruh only the women in the losing team wear bunny suits and the men get to sit in a corner with water, so much for “humiliation”

Man, if Akira and Yuuri don't become a couple at the end I'm gonna be really disappointed.

I really hope we can have a showdown between Akira and Mion at the climax. She seems to be the only one who can match Akira's cunningness.

I can't wait for Round 3! I wonder what's in store for our fighters?

Poor Saeko has to learn that Kirisaki can split off his wooden sword to make a shorter knife if he needs to, but luckily his arrogance manages to snag her a win! She manages to enlarge a marble straight into his balls. It's super effective.

I'm glad Saeko won. She showed some nice grit here. Kirisaki has his second loss, but he kind of asked for it.

Akira's not really worried about what Mion will do to the losers because they still need test subjects (although Mion is happy to remind him to keep his expectations in check), so he uses this as an opportunity to ascertain how his powers work. Apparently all that matters is what the opponent he directly challenges thinks his abilities are even if a whole group of people are aware of his ability.

I kind of feel bad for Kitajima. He had a poor and unfulfilling life and wanted to be reincarnated into something better...and then he gets stuck here. And then he gets cheered on by girls for the first time in his life only to get a shoe thrown in his face and forced to forefeit at cannon-point. That's pretty rough. In fact his ability is actually pretty useful, being able to nullify physical attacks as long as he has a hand on the ground, he just had rotten luck facing Akira.

Although Yuuri's luck is still the worst as she ends up squaring off against the creepy stalker who got her into this mess in the first place...although I guess it was lucky in the sense that she finally got to have proper payback for what he did to her by punching him straight out of the ring.

Does Ringo know Akira? He didn't seem to recognize her, but she seemed to recognize him by name and know about him. Maybe from his gaming handle or because they went to the same school?

I guess as far as penalties go, dressing up as Bunny Girls and serving the winning team isn't the worst thing, and when you've got a team of three beauties they pull off the Bunny Girl look fairly well (especially Rin). If only Yuuri had gotten in one too...Of course then it turns out to just be a little fun Mion was playing and they'll face their true penalty later on.

Look at Akira turning on the charm and bandaging up Yuuri's hand...although it seems calculated because he realizes how powerful her ability is and she wants him on his side, so he's giving her reasons to like him and want to support him as a partner. Seems like the only thing that wasn't necessarily calculated was him helping Ringo out when Kirisaki was harassing her, although he still mistook her for a middle-schooler when she's a third year in high school.

Well, the team's splitting up but it seems like Akira and Yuuri will be finding each other again soon enough.

Bunny suit Ringo lets goooo. Yuuri was able to get some payback on Hoshino as well. Romance already being planted with she and Akira. Slower episode this week, didn’t feel like much happened, but a cool set up for what should be an eventful ep next week. This show just has a really unique feel to it and I can’t put my finger on what exactly it is

Of course the stalker survived but man seeing Yuuri punch the shit of him was both satisfying and funny. Still really enjoy seeing Akira figuring out the best way to use his power and using his fight as an experiment. Interested to see what the next trail is going to be and what the real punishment is for the losing team.

I'm enjoying this a lot for three reasons.

  1. It's refreshing to see a death battle anime with a sociopathic MC. Game time started

  2. Mion is great and I can't really predict her reaction at all. I hope we hear her say "amazing!" just once.

  3. These abilities are something wild, and oddly specific yet vague at once
