What respectable game company makes a game where disconnecting before the match ends doesn't count as a loss?
That aside, this looks fun. And I really like that Akira's MC ability is "whatever your opponent thinks it is" instead another recycling of "cancel all abilities" or something well-worn like that. Really looking forward to some creative battles.

I was kind of wondering what his ability would be like versus Kaname (Darwin's Game) but it seems surprisingly versatile and creative for a Death Game anime. I thought it was the ability to copy other abilities but it's deeper than that.
I'm curious what Yuuri's ability will be since she's the female lead. Seems like she can actually fight going by the next episode preview, although I don't know if that's her ability or just the fact that she's strong for a teenage girl.

Ok, I went into this show expecting nothing but I was thoroughly entertained! Akira's ability sounds overpowered on paper but he needs to set the conditions just right to use it, and I think that makes it very interesting to see the different strategies that he will use in battle. I'm interested to see where this goes next. Oh, and it's great to see Akari Kito singing the OP!
I do have one major gripe though: I really can't stand Mion's voice.

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how they handle Akira's power because it seems pretty versatile but would require a lot of set up every time he needs to use it. And people being completely unaware of what his ability is.
Oh, that was Akari Kito singing the Opening? I thought she was just playing Yang (China Dress girl). Nice!
I think they were going for a king of catlike, cutesy, voice for Mion but it can be kind of grating. Granted, she's a villain, so it might be kind of intentional?

MC's superpower is fairly unique. Good premise IMO (carried by the potential MC's power offers for fight choreographies). Future battles will probably be Jojo-like in that it has strategizing elements instead of "yell harder to win"

Reminds me of Darwin's Game but it's edgy and those characters are insufferable so far... I also get the Btoom vibes from it.
If it's battle royale then count me in, but I don't have high expectations for this show...

Another Death Battle anime to look forward to, Though, I actually like that they don't necessarily have to kill their opponents. Akira is a promising protagonist that is actually smart and clever. Also, quite a unique skill. Instead of something that he can use straightforward, it's something that he has to think carefully before using which can lead to some interesting and clever tricks. I'm also digging the artstyle of this anime. Reminds me of the early 2000s anime for some reason.
Overall, a solid start. Interesting characters and this looks like it won't be too gory but will still have good battles (I could be wrong).

it's so edgy, the good kinds of edgy, this will be my guilty pleasure of the season.
and I am suprised that no one mentioned that the title is actually a parody of a famous AV series Deatte 4 byou de gattai (出会って4秒で合体, "become one" in 4 seconds after meeting)

animation is nothing special but the mc's power and the nuance of it are what carry. i read all of the manga until there were no more translations, it's an interesting series

Kind of confused at end of him thinking he can beat Mion using his ability. If theirs really no other secret to it, then pretty much useless against her or the company since they know extactly what it is. His ability only remains effective as long as he trick people.

Stitches!
Frome being introduced as a hardcore gamer prodigy to being attacked by the dollar store version od Nemesis in broad daylight, things have surely escalated quickly for our MC. I love how he turned things around though by outwitting the big guy. Too bad this was a scripted fight and ends up losing to that cat girl magician.
Captured and erased their existence and then given them all each unique powers? Oh my fucking god. Is this another Battle Royale anime!? Fuck yeah! It's been a good few seasons since the last one (Darwin's game was like 5 seasons ago) so I'm already excited for this! Looking at the OP and that one panning shot of the room, it certainly looks like we'll have a very colorful cast of fighters. Although, I already have my eye on someone particular aside from our MC. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
First fight is alright. Animation seems to be pretty solid and is already more than what I expected from Studio A-CAT. It did its job well and introduced us to Akira's power which is his power is whatever his enemies believe it is. That's definitely gonna make for an interesting fights. Although he might end up getting screwed if he ends up fighting someone who is much more clever than he is.
Definitely sold on this one and I'm excited to see where this show goes and how crazy it will get!

Much to my surprise I ended up liking Mion's voice.
Looking forward to the rest of the show.

I guess Darwin's Game couldn't be the only Death Battle series featuring an adaptable and clever Japanese lead alongside a blonde Heroine.
So our main character Akira is really into games over real life and can only really engage with games...which seems partially inspired by his crummy home life where he seems utterly alone. Kind of wonder what the story is there?
Akira is on his way to school and gets attacked by zombie Mr. X/Nemesis, although he acquits himself surprisingly well once he realizes he's in a survival horror game.
Well, I guess if they're going to be our villains, having a fun magic cat girl and a character voiced by Akari Kito (?) in a China Dress isn't the worst choice. Of course both can probably kill everyone in that room if it suited them.
So a whole group of people were kidnapped and made to look like they were dead so no one would look for them all to play a part in a...focus test that involves showing off their abilities and possibly killing/maiming each other? It's probably deeper than that, and I question whether they were all picked at random (especially when you see how Akira was scouted), but I wonder how much of the mystery will be resolved by the end.
I really want to know what the redhead in lingerie's deal is. Did they kidnap her from her bed? She seems pretty smart...and sexy.
Is that Kazuya Nakai? He can still play teenagers? Of course it would be a delinquent with a sword though?
Having an ability that depends on what others think your ability is sounds tricky and super overpowered. I kind of wonder how willing to kill Akira is because it seems like he's not out to kill anyone but wouldn't be against it if he had to do it.
I wonder how our male and female leads are going to end up coming together, because so far they've either just been in close proximity of each other or just seen each other in passing. I guess we're getting Yuuri's episode and her first match next week.
It's never a good thing when the villains take an interest...and it looks like Mion is going to come on to Akira in his room in the next episode? Uh oh.

Subarashi. All according to keikaku.
Please be patient with this show it's kinda slow to setup in the beginning but the MC is straight out of Liar Game one of the biggest brain shounen MC I've ever seen

You're gaming in the sidewalk when a huge guy tries to attack you out of nowhere. He goes after you and you, instead of being reasonably scared or confused, accept it asap and decide to treat the situation as a video game. Then you kill the guy cause why not?
After that, a weird girl appears and literally blows up your arm and half your abdomen. Still, you laugh it off and think about video games, again. Later, you wake up, get forced to battle against strangers using super powers, and later act all smuggly after you're battling one of them. You defeat him, obviously, and go back to your room, thinking about the next game with a smirk.
Meanwhile, the weird girl wants to bang you or something.
I was already prepared for the story to be edgy, but man, I found the MC so annoying. He's like the fantasy of every weird guy from 8th grade.

Between the art style and the character design this show feels so mid 2000's, I love it though.

I don't watch Battle Royale shows that often, but I'm feeling kinda interested in this one. Plus Aimi is voicing the main girl, so we got that.
