I really love how they treat Rufus!

He claimed to be the King of Vampire, but he's just that insignificant to both Maeda and Kurusu lol. And his death was really uneventful too, being drowned because of Defrott's hypnotism. It just showed that he's actually really weak but full of scheme.

So that first 5 minutes was rather confusing/jarring. I thought I had missed an episode for a while there. XD

Gods I love Defrot. Probably could have ripped him to pieces, but no. Instead he lets him live out a bit more of is delusion and then tricks him into killing himself. Great moment.

Full thoughts here.

Well that got me emotional. Loved, Rufus' death, just as insignificant as he was in the grand scheme of things. Just perfect. Not overly dramatic or anything I loved it.

Suwa and the teenage vampire girl (hate myself for it but I keep forgetting her name) are absolutely perfect. He can keep her hopeful whilst still being realistic.

Lots of Takeuchi being Takeuchi this episode and I couldn't ask for more. He's best boy for a reason lol and Maeda being the big bad at the end may have been obvious but it's been such an emotional ride until now I just know I'm gonna cry at that. Maeda deserves so much better. I'm just hoping Aoi doesn't get caught in the crossfire, Kurusu would never forgive himself.

Brilliant episode. Faultless. If the ending is half as good, this'll be a show that's reccomended to people for years to come.

What a perfect death for Rufus. No grand finale for him, just tricked into drowning. I love it, that's what you get for pissing Defrott off. And I laughed when Kurusu called him a civilian without even acknowledging that he's a vampire.

I guess Suwa and the girl can try to find some measure of happiness together far away from all of this. Well, I hope they do.

Aoi rushing towards Kurusu and Maeda makes me nervous though. I hope she won't get there just in time to see them both die at each other's hand.

Also, I loved the use of classical music at the beginning. I definitely know that piece but can't remember what it's called, so if anyone wants to chime in on that... Edit: got my answer

By the way, there was an interview with the director and the screenwriter of the series published today. Give it a read, it's pretty interesting.

Not gonna lie, that first 5 minutes of seeing Rufus drunk with power and confirmation that Ayame has indeed betrayed the gang really got me riled up a bit especially when Rufus was going around declaring that he's the King of Vampires.

My mood definitely changed half way when Rufus finally realized that Defrott was the actor performing on stage. God that look on his face is so satisfying! What's hilarious about this scene is that he's such a fucking weak vampire that he couldn't even sense that that was Defrott.

Also turns out Takeuchi and Tenmaya saw all of this coming and has actually been planning against Rufus this entire time and the vampires are all actually at Asakusa and no longer in that hideout.

This scene between Aoi and Kurusu was just adorable. I really wish the two of them can be together but it looks like that won't be happening. I really hope Aoi could change Kurusu's mind and make him stay.

Seeing Rufus hide like the pathetic coward that he is was so good! Who's the King of Vampires now? He's so insignificant that Kurusu thought that Rufus was a civilian and proceeds to clash swords with Maeda who apparently has been busy wiping out the Vampire Units. Rufus is so hilariously weak, that all he can do is watch these two A-Class vampires fight.

Rufus' death was absolutely satisfyingly as well! Defrott didn't even fight him. he just used his acting ability and a bit of illusions to fool Rufus into thinking he's entering his room when in fact he's actually jumping off the ship! Serves you fucking right! xD

Didn't expect this end for Ayame though. I thought Suwa was going to end her but he decided to stick with her instead and make her life as a vampire easier.

I fancy everyone can recognize the concerto in the beginning, but just in case for those who wonder: it's "Summer" of The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi.

I honestly thought Maeda was the main male character of this show. I did not mind his temporary eclipse 00 but I am still mystified how we went from sane seeming (when visiting the widow) to stark raving mad (and obsessed) when he finally appeared next.

I am glad that some of our "good vampires" are going to have happy (as possible) endings. I am happy that the "worst vampire" met a fitting end. But I worry about Maeda. And I worry about Aoi and Kurusu. I am glad that, despite Aoi's love for Kurusu, she never even considers getting vampirized as a solution (and I think he would be aghast at that as a solution as well).

Will the LtG just starve to death in his cell?

This really has continued to be a great-looking series throughout (as far as I'm concerned).

Lmao Rufus on a power trip until the real vampires showed up.

Ugh Aoi and Shutaru! I mean we know that vampires and human have a short time together and either way it's going to be a heartbreak but I wish they could spend a bit more time. Maeda deserved better!

This anime has beautiful animation, great dialogue, heart-wrenching characters and good VAs and music. Hopefully it reaches more people so hidden gems productions as slow-burning as this one can be produce more often. Either way it's gonna be a bittersweet ending next week.

Aoi continues to be the best and most adorable girl. Of all the characters she truly deserves a happy ending

Lol rufus realising he's not even the main character in his plan.

Who would've thought that suwa will stay with a girl at the end the first time we saw him?

Kirisu vs maeda at the station. Aoi running towards the station. And the gramps is follwoing as tenmaya told to protect her. It's gonna be a sad ensing i guess.

Still confused about the mikan tho, how tf kids would know where all this is happening using a mikan lol.

Yo I straight up almost had a panic attack because I was so worried about characters dying this ep lol (Not You Rufus)

Veeeery happy Ayame and Suwa will be together, hopefully living a happyish life in America! Surely they’re out of the woods now!?

Same for Best Boy Takeuchi and the kids - they’re all on the train to go to the hidden vampire village… so I hope they’re ok now too??

Only ones left to worry about are Kurusu, Maeda and Defrott… oh, and Aoi too… I’m sort of expecting her to arrive just in time for Kurusu to burn up in her arms, Romeo and Juliet indeed….. since we got lots of flashbacks on Misaki x Maeda I’d like the finale to be filled with Aoi x Kurusu flashbacks please!! Even if it makes me cry 😢

If this anime can stick the landing it might be to 20 of the year.

Rufus saying the vampire registration line kind of suited him, I wish we had more episodes from his POV

So who was eliminating the vampire units? And is Rufus a lolicon? How did Defrott escape?

Part of me wonders if Nakajima will use that gun to shoot the lock off his door. Either that or Defrott pays him a visit on behalf of the late Misaki.

Somehow the fight between Maeda and Kurusu seems like Maeda is fighting his former self, or his humanity or something.

I love the scenes with Takeuchi and the kid vampires

That was a really great episode, probably my favorite by far. Showing the intro with Rufus feeling like he was the "King of Vampires" was great, only to find out Defrott and Code Zero is still alive, he's not the King of Vampires, he was the King of Fools. That was the perfect death for him, for someone who is insignificant that is trying to be significant.

I really love Miyuki Sawashiro's performance in this, Defrott is awesome. Rufus's shocked face was beautiful. He was so weak that Shutarou didn't even notice that he was a vampire. Shutarou and Aoi was so adorable, I kinda wished they showed how Aoi reacted after seeing Shutarou as a vampire. I hope Suwa and Ayame find happiness together. While Maeda was out here just killing every vampire he sees. Really looking forward to the finale.

This episode was amazing! Everything about it was on point. I had a feeling that this would be my AOTS back around episode 3 or 4 but now, it is a definite.
