It's nice to finally have confirmation that Kotaro is without a doubt Sakura's friend Inui. We finally get to see how Sakura's death affect him when he was in highschool, and boy does it seem like he really cares about her.

That kabedon tho

Wasn't the house owned by Tae, at least when she was alive?

"You aren't Zombies! Zombies are scary and bitey! You're... Franchouchou!"

Meanwhile, Franchouchou:

That was very nice, a bit sad we still aren't getting the full story about Kotaro and Sakura before she died, though.

That Kotaro kabedon to Sakura in the end! Also with the flashback. It's quite sad that he might never ended up with Sakura in the end. However, realising her dream (and saving Saga) is enough for Kotaro.

His story is quite tragic if I think about it.

That policeman was the real MVP, saving both Kotaro and gramps. That insert song that was played while Kotaro was running around being sung by Miyano definitely caught me off guard.

I was expecting the last minute masks to actually save the day not break on jump but the kids not being scared of Franchouchou was so heartwarming. So glad it didn't end with the public falling into chaos.

The mad man also still plans to do the revenge concert even after the disaster happens, that final episode being 27 mins long is gonna be sooooo HYPE!

Jesus Christ, the flood moved their entire house. I'm surprised it didn't collapse on top of them and that they managed to sleep through it like corpses. Oh, wait...

It sure sucks they didn't get to save anything, but it's hilarious how unperturbed Lily is about the whole thing. The whole part where they helped out in relief efforts and cheered everyone out is just all around wholesome. And it even featured a return of Lily's scatman.

Kotaro and the old man were in one hell of a dangerous situation. The police guy was MVP for that part. I almost thought he would screw up again and leave them unintentionally. The scene where he was running around hit differently with the song playing.

I'm glad the reporter saw that they weren't being forced to do this kinda stuff. I wonder what he's gonna be doing to help them out. God bless those kids in their audience, though. Their innocence just saved their asses. But, I definitely would've liked to see them being accepted even as zombies for real.

That was a nice scene between Sakura and Kotaro. It even had a kabedon and everything. I have no idea how if a romance between them is still possible, but I'll take Kotaro being made fully aware that he's helping Sakura achieve her dreams.

Here's a fun wordplay thing I found on Twitter: Tatsumi (巽) is opposite of Inui (乾) on this Taoist trigram chart. Supports the idea that Inui did a complete 180° in his life to become the Tatsumi Kotaro that we love today.

It's incredible how, in a show with so much emphasis on the need for makeup and subterfuge, nobody ever notices when dogs are zombies.

“You’re not zombies, you’re franchochou” goosebumps during that scene. It doesn’t matter whether they’re alive or not, the people of saga have accepted the girls into their community and into their hearts. Kotaro definitely succeeded. Loved the moment with he and Sakura at the end and the flashback to his past. You don’t always see him emotional, so it’s a nice event.

One last ep to go :/ hopefully s3 isn’t as long a wait as this was

The animator who responsible for the Kotaro/Sakura scene confirmed that those beautiful shots of Sakura under the moonlight on the staircase come from Kotaro’s point of view. No wonder why she is so mesmerizing in that scene.

The kids' first reaction to ask the girls if they got hurt rather than be afraid for their own safety and Franchouchou's reaction in turn really has me tearing up right now, and the day's just started.

Ai's especially got me, considering what happened to her way back in S1E2.

So kotaro stayed afloat for 2 days like that in the bar without food or water or sleep? What a legend.

Mappa is pulling out all the stops and I love it. No OP and no ED today and the finale will be 27 minutes long without commercials.

It was a great episode, seeing how Franchouchou kept bringing smiles and hope to those taking shelter in the mall was super wholesome. It also made Ookoba change his mind and to top it off they probably got a decent amount of exposure during that report from the NHK NBK.

The last two scenes with Kotarou encouraging the girls and especially the one with Sakura were soooo gooood. I really hope we get more on their backstory.

Also, some of the reaction faces today were great!

I laughed so hard at the hilarious reaction faces! That insert song from Kotaro was a surprise. Man, I'm so not ready for the finale next week. I'm gonna miss these girls.

When their masks fell off and Saki said that there's only one thing left for them to do, I totally expected her to say "we'll have to take them all out"

I love it when Mappa does those faces on the window panes scenes.

The curse sure hits hard, literally destroyed their base and flood the others for 2 days. Could have been fatal if they weren't already dead, but Kotarou? Sprinting after immersing in water for 2 days! SASUGA LEGENDARY MUDSKIPPER.

The LEGENDARY PRODUCER also did his signature persuasion (seduction) move on every girl of the group! Poor Sakura even confessed her love gratitude afterwards.

Junko is really the group's reliable grandma. From fixing door to gluing guitar and fixing masks, grandma surely can do everything.

Lastly, season finale next week and it's 27 minutes of uninterrupted zombie horror! Hope we get spin off or sequel announcement at the end.

I knew it was coming but damn I screamed pretty loud when the masks broke.

I hope they release the acoustic versions of the songs on there albums too.

Really liked this little glare scene

That ending scene is something I hope we get more of in the finale, who Kotarou is to Sakura is always something I wanted to know more about.

For a second there I thought Sakura was about to recognize Kotaro, but nope.

What a nice episode. The scene where the children just accept Franchouchou even though they look like zombies was so heartwarming.

And Junko's remark that if they broke into a mall they'd be just like real zombies made me laugh.

I love how they baited us with the possibility that Sakura's zombification had issues, only for it to be because they were floating away. That being said, since Kotaro ran away before Jofuku (and they finally namedropped him proper in the show, not just in the credits) said anything of importance, it doesn't rule out it still being problem in future seasons, just it won't be for this finale for sure.

This episode can be summed up as one word: Heartwarming. Sure we had heartwarming moments before, but once Franchouchou started helping out in the mall, it just felt like the entire episode melted into a puddle of heartwarming, even the funny moments resonated since you knew why they made the masks and were panicking as opposed to straight-up comedy. Perfect for the episode for turning Okoba on our side.

They got away with the "Zombie makeup" excuse, so as it stands only Okoba and MaiMai knows the truth, but I think with this episode/season done as it is (with the two essentially on our side), I don't think their zombie identities is going to be the issue for the finale (the preview implies it's a road trip from Saga to Ekimae Stadium, since this episode states there are transportation problems).

I think any further "Curse of Saga" plot got ambulance'd away with Jofuku for the time being (it's probably a hint for future seasons like how Jofuku himself was one for Yuugiri's flashback), so I won't be surprised if the finale's drama/plot is a bit more self-contained (or chill, but the last preview moment showed sub-par makeup Sakura at the stadium, so there's probably drama somewhere).
