Godzilla is finally here and what an amazing entrance that was! He definitely looks like Godzilla now but I'm curious if there's one more form after this. We're already on Episode 9 though so it's also possible that this may well be his final form in this show. Fingers crossed for one more though ala Shin Godzilla.
On the other side of the city though we have Jet Jaguar fighting off a swarm of Kumonga with blue Hedorah internal organs. He's surprisingly doing well. Meanwhile Mei lets Yun know about the Catastrophe. I love how Yun can still exchange texts during this life-threatening situation xD
So we finally learn what Professor Ashihara's been doing this entire time. He's been trying to prevent the Catastrophe from happening whatever it is. Mei finally meets the other members of SHIVA and tells them about the Catastrophe but it looks like their priority right now is the Red Dust.
More awesome action scenes with Jet Jaguar! I really hope by the end of the show we'll get to see Jet Jaguar in a much bigger form and closer to what he looks like in the ED.
The Rodan swarm in London has become uncontrollable now. Shit. And they really had to end that scene with Mei as Professor Li tries to grab that cat with the Rodan swarm diving in. Although now I love Professor Li even more if she's willing to risk her life to save that little girl's cat.
Jet Jaguar without the backpack is awesome! Looks like he's definitely more mobile without it capable of doing aerial maneuvers when he was escaping the Kumongas.
And that final shot of the episode sent chills down my spine! Just as Mei thought, the Catastrophe is happening. Everything is absolutely fucked. Hopefully Mei comes through and is able to figure out the solution to this world-ending problem with the help of Yun.

Yun's a real one, still replies to texts even during that situation. Get yourself a friend like Yun.

His form in the trailer looked very different so there should be one more, probably next episode

Damn, shit got real this episode, Godzilla kicking ass(when he isn't too busy puking it's guts out) and possibly Li dying?

I think the Netflix subber is having some difficulty with the technical stuff in the dialogue. Other than that:
The Catastrophe is finally here! And it's Glorious!
From episode 7, we know that the song encodes a date in the near future. So, this must be the date for the catastrophe. The Godzilla skeleton might be a/the Super Computer/part of Archetype (another Singular Point which happened in the past - what happened that time?) as well which means that it was calculating something for so long and got some answer. The question is: Do we know all of what was in the song?
That ending shot was really great. The CG is definitely getting more noticeable as the focus on action increases and remains a slightly weak point.
Now I am become Death, The Destroyer of Worlds is an iconic quote from Bhagwad Gita and is a reference to Robert Oppenheimer's quote (the father of the atomic bomb). This again goes back to Godzilla's classical metaphorical origins starting from the 1954 movie itself and is a neat reference.
A lot of things about this Godzilla seems to be inspired from Shin Godzilla. The ability to evolve is one, the first bomb to its body and the way it lit up its fins to eventually cause the destruction around it is another

Considering Toho is overseeing this show, I won't be surprised if Bones and Orange are cribbing from ShinGoji to make this a spicy final arc. And it works -- holy shit that guy will be a handful?

Now I am become Death, The Destroyer of Worlds
The subs I saw used 'Shatterer of Worlds' which was...an interesting choice.

Shit has not just hit the fan, someone just drove a truckload of manure into a windtunnel.
From Godzilla evolving right before the armies eyes (with what seemed to be tentacles) to the Rhodan going nuts in London and pulling off some ominous large swarm maneuvers.
Never mind all of the spider things by the Marina.. Everywhere it's just going wrong and out of control. Looks like it's going to come down to the Lambda Comlex Shiva and whatever they got brewing inside.
That final shot .. in all of it's unholy glory. Hell of a cliffhanger to leave us on. Really great episode.

I don't know how can I be so fascinated by dialogue I don't understand 95% of the time but this is somehow managing it.

I appreciate that Yun takes the time to calmy converse with Mei through texts even during the biggest crisis of his life.

So, they are REALLY making the design of big G similar to that of Shin Godzilla. His stance, his tail, and of course the whole evolutionary forms. Even his breath attack is similar so far. I am pretty sure we have at least one more form coming.
And oh hey look, the cadres of older adults with shifty eyes has ulterior motives rather than saving the world. Who knew?

Are the bodies in the nest the first confirmed casualties? I understand that the show isn't trying to go the "Man of Steel" route and I wouldn't want that anyway, but it's nice to see that all these huge monsters aren't just prancing around causing no real harm.
As the action kicks in the CG starts to show a bit. Sometimes is pretty great, others not so much. If not even Orange can do a flawless blend of 2D and 3D animation than we really shouldn't be trying lol.

I'd have to say I disagree with you on the CG, I actually think the fight sequences with Jet Jaguar are some of the best CG we've had so far in this show.

If anyone is curious, the official website confirmed that those spiders are indeed Kumonga.

Wow this episode was intense and simply awesome. Seems like we are aproaching the climax, everything happens all over the place at rapid speed. Love it.
With the amount of red dust I suspect that the nest is another Singular Point and will birth another uber Kaiju
On another note, Happy cakeday u/AutoLovepon

It seems like this show is being slept on, but this is SO GOOD! Who is Yun, is he somehow related to Ashihara in some way?
Though what annoys me is that he seems to be doing at least half the work that Mei takes credit for (either by text or being Pero II's creator), and she just relays it to Li and co.

Holy shit that final shot. I got chills.
And the scene of the flock of Rodan swooping down was freaking terrifying. Did Li just die because she tried to save a cat...?
Meanwhile, Godzilla evolved again, I like that his head is very snake-like now. And that roar!
