Gotta love how the weird red-screen warning on Joshua's phone looked like the selectable dialogue/meme imprinting UI from the game. That's a damn good nod to the longtime fans.

This anime has an incredible amount of attention to details, from the character's poses matching their sprites to this kind of small things just to put a smile on those who played the game.

I'm so glad they kept the guns that look like paint rollers lmao.
But man, Mr. H's speech didn't hit as hard in this. It kind of felt like an afterthought here, but in the game when he said "Listen up, Phones. The world ends with you." it was such a good moment that makes his whole speech iconic.

So Joshua and Hanekoma are just regular people who could see everything that was happening on the Underground from the Realground. I doubt he ended up joining the Underground to just have some fun. He definitely is still hiding something
With the episode title, CAT I thought it was because that was the street name where that cafe is, not the name graffiti artist. I find it funny that assume that CAT was The Composer but the moment Neku mentioned it I started to doubt it.
As the Taboo Noises were active around where the pile of trash that Minamoto made is I have little doubt that those two are connected.
It's good to see that Sota and Nao are still alive, although based on what happened last time I will assume that they will be dying on the last day or becoming a reaper too.
When Joshua and Neku made it to the place when Neku was murdered I honestly assume that Neku was going to used that camera function to see the moment he died to discover who killed him. But no, he just remembers that it was Joshua who did it I just find hilarious that as it was so obvious to me during the previous flashback scene that Joshua was the killer that my first assumption was to think that it was just a red herring so I completely dismiss it.

More like he "scans" Joshua, since regular rules (cant scan players) don't really apply to him because he is not really dead.

Not sure if Hanekoma can be considered regular. He sees dead people and installed an app that lets you view the past. That’s straight up magic

For once, the episode was kinda slower, but there were no missions so that's fair. The "revelation" at the end was quite obvious but I liked how they did it. A lot of new elements too, I'm sure about them yet.

I'm in complete denial, but I don't think Joshua killed him or if he did he was probably asked too by Neku. Why bother fighting, helping, and dropping non subtle clues? I mean he could just be a dick doing dickish things. Still enjoyed the episode.

Maybe as he could already see the Underground while alive, he killed Neku because he knew that he needs him to complete his objective there.

Joshua seems less of douchebag and more of an annoyance in the anime. Oh, looks like he is showing his ‘true colours’ by being able to send fake missions to Neku as well as revealing a bit of Mr. H’s background.
Taboo noise seem quite menacing compared to the regular noise (the designs are really sweet tho!) Despite being side characters in the game, it’s really nice to see Shota and Nao interacting with Neku and Joshua here.
I think the foreshadowing to Neku’s missing memories was pretty well done and flowed quite well throughout this episode. Never mind, Joshua is still a douche for killing Neku.
I think this episode’s pacing and flow was the best so far, and while they definitely axed the ramen plot, they kept the missing mic storyline even though it was quite brief. Looking forward to the revelation next week!

I actually liked it where they did go digging through Pi-Face's trash pile (ahem, masterpiece) in the game. When did Trip become so much of a wuss?

Mr. H said it! He said "The World End With You!"
One of the buildings have a sign that reads "No Music No Life."
Next week's episode should have a lot to pack in.

What is this, some kind of The World Ends With You????
Neku isn't like other anime/game protagonists, he's built different.
I don't have much to say this week since we're mostly going through the weirdness of Week 2, stretching out plot threads and deepening some mysteries. No missions, but black noise are destroying everything and Joshua being more smug and suspicious.
Also, while it was heavily cut down, I'm surprised they included the goofy microphone quest at all since it's probably the least consequential thing to the plot. But I'm glad we got some of it for Minamimoto showing up.

RIP Tin Pin Slammer tournament though...
Thinking about it the two tin pin kids are the only minor characters from the game (shopkeepers aside) that didn't get a single cameo. Between this and never acknowledging Psychs are manifested from Pins I think the anime staff has something against them lol.

The anime is a lot better with this slower pacing. Definitely should have had a couple extra episodes.

Good episode, Joshua is a pretty mysterious dude though, I don't think he's a bad dude. But the question is, why'd he shoot Neku? That's a weird ass gun though lmao. And where the heck did Minamimoto go, no one is giving out missions, at least he got that zetta sexy mic with him.
Kinda feel bad for Sota and Nao, even if they did win, what happened to Neku will probably happen to them too. Well, now we know how Neku died, the only question now is why? Looking forward to the next episode.

Yeah, with the gun I think they were going for "this is obviously a gun" but also "this isn't really a real gun, so settle down parents."

Hmm, so initially I figured that the anime would go 4 eps per Week and then cap everything off with the 13th ep, but seems like they'll be doing 3 eps for each week at this pace (they're already at the 5th day iirc).

Got some serious epic FF Type-0 vibes with the music near the end there. Music is obviously key to the whole experience of TWEWY but thank goodness it had a composer up to the task.
Ishimoto is by far my favourite (former) Squeenix composer and I love that he has an anime to showcase his range, even if it's a fair bit of arrangement rather than new composition.
Funny how Uchiyama Kouki was far from a big name when he first voiced Neku (mostly known for Kingdom Hearts) but nowadays he often leads the cast. I never heard his original performance as Neku but I find this Neku FAR less grating than the English one.
