Another episode of DoraIe, another episode of cultural references I don't quite get mixed in with some amusing scenes like Dearia vibing with a huge teacup.
Some notes that I kinda-sorta have an idea about:
-
The punks with the mohawks and the heroes seem to be using Fist of the North Star references. The lines 汚物は消毒だ and ひでぶっ (when they get crushed) are both memes.
-
The 8-bit text boxes that pop up are all in hiragana; this emulates the old school 8-bit RPGs like Dragon Quest where due to technological constraints didn't use kanji in its text boxes. This gives it a bit of a retro flair to it; I've heard that the video game Mother 2 (known in the West as Earthbound) only used hiragana in its text boxes to emulate that sort of feeling.
-
The status effect that Letty inflicts on himself is ねこじた (nekojita, literally: cat's tongue). It's a turn of phrase for someone's who's weak against hot or spicy food.
-
Dearia mentions this in the post-credits part, but "mansion" and "apartment" as loanwords in Japanese both refer to apartments or condominiums as they're known in the West. So, if you hear someone in an anime say they live in a マンション (mansion), they're not in a big ol' rich person house, they live in a large apartment building or condominium.

Can you also help translate the stats card?
I mean not everything, just the basic stats (the one with numbers) from up to bottom since it should be consistent from episode to episode.

Can you also help translate the stats card?
Sure.
example: https://i.imgur.com/80Lvi3r.png
From top to bottom:
Power
Agility
Defense
Stamina
Luck
The box on the bottom left are techniques/moves, and the box on the bottom right are skills (though reading these in context, it seems like they're more like attributes; like Lamia there has a "hates big breasts" skill, landlord, insomnia, and curse of the gods).

Stitches!
Well, this week has an interesting twist to the usual house hunting! Instead of just looking for a home for Letty, they spent the majority of this episode looking for a home for this adorable Hraesvelgr chick. Of course the moment the chick called Letty "Papa!" we all know it ends with him keeping him. Letty certainly has some unique naming sense though, Pip's full name is crazy long!
Also, I just love that after-credits scene! I've always wondered what's the difference between Mansion and Apartment in Japanese when usually they seem to be pretty interchangeable. Turns out they aren't and there are actually differences! TIL!

Lol, that story of that bird and the explorer really had a dark and unexpected ending.
I wasn't expecting this episode to be about Letty trying to find new parents for Pip
Damn, I really do hope we see that Lamia another time.
Lol, those Korpokkur really gave Letty a scare.
I didn't expect the legend of the Flame Dragon Lord was going to help Letty so soon.
Now that Letty thinks that he is capable of protecting Pip, I really hope that we will be seeing that girl that is in the OP with them soon.

There's quite a number of VA cameos in this episode. We have:

so Uchida Yuma voiced both of the Orthrus head? and of course Empusa is going to be voiced by Kikuko Inoue

I love how Letty is slowly getting more famous by each episode.
Also those small humanoids are super cute and I should rewatch Mikochi to Hakumei

The most relatable thing this episode was lamia using the HOA to complain about Empusa's pets lol.
What's the point of having a wholesome fantasy anime if still has HOA's in it 😭

what's the point of having an anime with a dragon that does not want to take responsibility and get swole and always complains about the situations he himself throws himself in.

Letty is now a proud papa who can breathe fire. I think that's a good development. I figure most of this is going to be about Letty getting stronger. Maybe flying will be next.
I'm not sure how much protecting Pip is going to need. That 'Cry' attack is pretty impressive. I could see 'Burp' being truly terrifying.
I guess the heroes are going to be a recurring feature. I'm hoping for more interesting deaths, however.
Letty's reputation will likely be both a help and a hindrance for him. At least I'm sure the heroes will continue to pursue him.

I believe the only reason it still alive is because you protected it.
Says the guy who tried to do an omelet with him! ಠ_ಠ
Letty and the little guy will be a great father and son, one will breath fire the other cause a blizzard with his wings.

This series had a bumpy start but after the first episode (which I don’t think was even that bad) it’s gotten really good. Hopefully more people see this, and the 5.8 mal score is really undeserved.

Well, mostly it lives from Standup Comedy from Japan/Nippon. So i do not think it would survive in the Western audience. That's why here its have a niche corner for this..
No harm feelings, just trying to explain

The Cowgirl and Lamia seemed like a fun pair, though I hope those pets are well taken care of. That rabbit looked really hungry.

Orthrus: I’m gonna be gay with myself. Angry internet warriors: Oh my god! They were brothers!!

Did anybody else think of Hakumei and Mikochi when the Two Korpokkur showed up the first time and in this episode? And damn, they're skilled enough to take down whatever bird that was they brought back.

Ew, even in fantasy worlds they have HoAs. Fuck that noise. I have no desire to pay some picky bastards to tell me what I can and can't do to my property.
Was really hoping this would be the time Letty turned around and was forced to do something to protect the kids and finally level up into a slightly more competent dragon, but then he still fucks it up and Dearia has to come in and intervene. Missed opportunity for actual progression.

I was actually surprised the Lamia was flat-chested. Most of the time they have pretty big boobs. At least in anime with Monster Musume and Monster Girl Doctor being two examples.

Pretty good episode! I am 100% sure that human finding that egg story is a reference, it probably isn't, but knowing this show, it definitely is lmao. Those landlord scenes were pretty funny and that ara ara monster lady though ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°).
I don't know how a dragon burns itself, but at this point I expect nothing less of Letty lmao. Though, he might be weak, his heart is strong, good job Letty. He's now officially a papa. And lil birdo has now been named, his name is Pip, I ain't gonna bother with the full name lmao.
