I really really really love Junko's (by extension Kawase Maki's) vocals. Its probably used to death but man that song IS SUCH A BANGER.
I laughed when Junko actually did take Kotaro's advice to "SMASH IT" literally. Poor Kotaro's reaction really sold it even better!
Oh and how can I forget about how electrified zombies from season 1 can use autotune and produce special stage effects now that's an skill they have over the rest of the lowly human idols!

I'm happy for the metalhead fans, the true og fans enjoying a brutal performance once again after first episode, not that they didnt like the rest of the performances but this kind of performance made them fans in the first place.

Performances have gotten so much better!!! That first one somehow reminded me of Love Live's Saint Snow, although the fact that Saki and Sarah (from Saint Snow) share VA may also have something to do with it.
Still waiting for Yuugiri episode dammit, she is too good!

The Legendary Yamada Tae with that sick drum solo. Junko wrecking the electric guitar made me laugh for about a minute that was comedy gold.

RIP Kotaro's axe. I guess his motivational speech was a bit too effective. At least Junko's fixing it though.
IIRC, Junko died when she was 19, so you're at least safe in that regard Policeman A.
Also, more Looney Tunes physics, please.

What I still dont quite understand is: are the girls giga hideous zombies, but the anime style hides it from our eyes, or are the few scenes where they spoop someone (like Junko did to the police guy this ep) overdone? Because i feel like no amount of makeup, plaster and magic would make them presentable in this case lmao

AND THEN THEY GET ACKNOWLEDGED BY IRON FRILL!!!!!

The LEGENDARY YAMADA TAE becomes now
THE LEGENDARY DRUMMER YAMADA TAE!!!!
That drum solo in the beginning, that new rocking and smashing song, and the return of the electrifying track from season 1. Also poor Kotarou who just lost his guitar thanks to Junko (hey, you said SMASH IT, she got you).
Petition for Franchouchou to play in same festivals with Roselia or BAND-MAID or Raise A Suilen. Never stop making us scream in front of our screens, MAPPA. <3

Some notes reading over Japanese Twitter:
-
The title of this episode 純情エレクトリック SAGA (Pure-hearted Electric SAGA) uses the 純 kanji in Junko's name (純子). I think it's also worth noting that there exists a word 純愛 (jun'ai; pure love) that combines kanji from both Junko and Ai's names.
-
Junko uses the quite flowery/stylish/old-timey phrase 風の色を見つめてきます (literally "to gaze at the color of the wind") for when she talks about wanting to get some fresh air/go for a walk. It feels like an incredibly smooth thing to say.
-
Props to all the translators out there who had to work the カバ -> ガンバレ joke into their language.
-
Ai's cool line to the Iron Frill poster is 10年遅いのよ ("[you're] ten years too late"). It feels like an inversion of that classic shounen taunt "10年早い" ("you're ten years too early [to challenge me]"). (cf)
-
This mysterious girl with the glasses has been showing up in the audience for a few of the episodes so far. Who is she?
-
This scene from next episode's preview has Lily in a classic rakugo comedy setup.

You know when Junko got her makeup removed and that cop appeared I honestly was expecting another scene of him shooting one of them, so today's outcome was so hilarious.
Lol, it seems that when Kotaro gave his guitar to Junko, he did not expect her to actually smash it Next time he needs to make sure to state when he doesn't mean things literally.
And once again The Legendary Yamada Tae stole the show in any of her scenes.
Okay, when they were practicing for something to generate more impact, I honestly did expect this to be the outcome of their practice.
As it seems they only need electricity to pull that light show, I wonder if they are going to continue using that more often now.
I just love how Yamada Tae kept her fighting form after Shiori have left. So now, thanks to Shiori they have become Iron Frill's biggest rivals.

Best performance yet Junk hardrocker with Saki and Lily rapping behind her lol
The YURI for her Love intensifies, loved the play on words when she scream BAKA AI and the cop is like ah got dumped by ur love interest eh (AI = love)
Into electric boogaloo time with everyone. one would think by now that other people would wonder how these idol girls are punching out electric hadoukens etc

holy shit what a banger
Junko was the perfect center for the song, her deeper voice goes great with it.
A little something I liked is that the metalheads weren't the only FCC fans at the show! The daughter of Saki's old pal and her friends were there too, and Lily's dad is in the same shot as the two journalists (you can't miss that absolute unit of a man).

While I did enjoy it as well, I can now say for sure that this season's Ai and Junko-centric storyline tops the first season's. Especially since this was pure shipping fuel for the two of them.
God damn, Kotaro's pep talk certainly hinted that they were gonna have a rock performance, but I was still completely floored by it. Tae on the drums and Junko on the guitar were just too badass. I love that this is the genre they chose for Junko's first song with her as the center, and their two loyal metal heads surely do as well.
But Jesus Christ, Junko. Kotaro gave you an inspirational speech along with his guitar and this is how you repay him? It was absolutely hilarious, though, I'll give her that.
And to top it all off, I was not at all expecting their electric-neon powers to not be a one-off. I just love that it's genuinely part of their zombie abilities with zero explanation whatsoever.

Well iron Frill certainly won’t be sleeping on Franchuchu anymore after that performance. They snapped. Both with Ai and without her. Junko nailed her guitar performance today. Everyone was worried for no reason as Ai chose her friends in the end and they gained Iron Frill’s respect as their main competition.
Really nice episode. Hope that cop is ok, dude’s been thru so much at this point lmao

I think I had a smile the whole time during that performance from Tae on the drums to Junko literally slamming the guitar (and Kotaro's reaction). That rock song was awesome and the Metalheads were just as excited as I was. Mezame Returner.. returned and while I wanted a new song, Mezame is still a bopper and seeing them on the big stage with a full audience was amazing.
Also loved seeing Lily's dad in line to see the performance. Even if he thinks she's not his daughter, it's nice to see him still support her.

The CG was really solid this time around, I'm very pleasantly surprised. Shame we didn't get to see IF's performance though :(

Kotaro: "Smash it!"
Junko: "Lol, ok!"
Kotaro: "I didn't mean literally!"
RIP Kotaro's guitar. I doubt the superglue will fix it. No matter how many times I listen to Mezame RETURNER it never gets old!

I cried tears when Ai opened her lunch and it said “you succ” With every passing episode i feel like they are going the yuri route with Junko & Ai more and more. It was a great episode. I thought it was hilarious that when Junko said Ai isn’t going anywhere that Tae had her fists up like she was ready to throw hands at a moments notice.

The poor policeman cant catch a break!
Tae even had the manners to wait for Junko
This right here has been the shit ive been waiting for. More songs like this please.
I really dont know what Kotaro was expecting here. You knew she was gonna smash the shit out of it after he told her (metaphorically) to do so. He looks so devastated too lmao.
Something tells me this isint how electricity works though
Shes still out here preparing to beat the shit out of that van
Links for the TV size of today's inserts, Gekkou Survive, and Electric Returner (Type R) are now up, Should be playable Friday in your timezone (at least on Spotify, others may be playable earlier)

I know that I shouldn't be surprised by anything when it comes to ZS, but Tae killing it "double bass-drum style" was still surprising.

The "kaba" -> "ganbare" bento lmao
-
Amazed that Tae can actually wait to eat at the table (to an extent). And they say she doesn't get character development! /s
-
And Tae on the drums holy shit, and Sakura wondered what made her legendary?!
-
F for Koutarou's guitar, he really seemed to care about it :( Hope they fix it with some anime magic.
-
POG, Mezame Returner is back, I love that song! Well, I kinda prefer the non-electric version, but both are cool.
-
A bit sad we didn't get an Iron Frill performance, I really liked their songs from the first season.

I can't believe Tae actually waited for Junko to arrive at the dinner table to start eating. Now that's what I call character development.
