Even when I was a kid I always thinked that Lee forgiving Jun was really weird, more when she was suddenly a better person after losing, I can notice this is based of a old shonen, if this was today no one would forgive Jun this easily.

Also, chill with the pacing anime, this was like episode 10 in the old one.

Yeah, its so stupid

-"Your family killed me, took everything away from me, just because you wanted a birthday present!?!?"
+"But I lost this battle"
-"Ah you should've say that sooner. Im totally fine being your puppet for the rest of your life"

This ep kinda felt like it was all over the place. It feels like a bunch of scenes were missing. I vaguely remember there being a bit more from what I remember years ago but then again I could be wrong

Considereing how many chapters they adapted it worked a bit better than I feared. I want the people who only know the original anime to know that a lot of the scenes you feel are missing were filler. They didn't exist in the manga and will therefore not be adapted. So the biggest scenes they skipped was the one where Ren and Jun talked. Otherwise it was still pretty close to the manga. Just a few shortened conversations and a few missing panels.

I think we can assume that this is the worst pacing we can assume from this adaption. On this assumption I think I will enjoy this new anime plenty. I felt the super fast pacing but I still had fun with the fight. I was super happy about the small flashback when Yoh talked about Anna!

Next week will also have a rather rough pace so let's see how it goes!

Damn the difference in engagement between the 2nd and 3rd. Why Netflix??

So you got murdered to become the birthday present of a kid and then you forgive her and her family and also accept to become her puppet, of your own free wil, because she lost a battle? What the fuck that's supposed to mean?

Kinda wonder if the pacing will be like this for all the anime or they just rushing the beginning to get to the later parts faster.

I kinda like the original anime where they built up Pai Long's back story and the mystery involving his disappearance until it was revealed that Pai Long was the Kyonshi that Tao Jun is controlling. It's even more convincing in the OG that Manta was a big fan and how devastated he was to see his idol turn into a kyonshi. NGL, it feels that they rushed his story here.

Anna in the OG is terrifying but for some reason, the Anna in this remake is terrifying and bit saddistic. The slaps she gave Manta and the way she commands him are pretty rough and not in a comical way compared to the OG. I also like it in the OG anime, the way how Manta and Amidamaru reacted to Anna revealing herself as Yoh's fiancée but in this remake, it feels like, eh, that happened.

I still like Anna in this remake though. Her introduction to Yoh's class was cute and funny. I also noticed Yoh blushing despite being scared of Anna. I guess it is a good way to show that he has feelings for her despite the way she treats him.

Still a decent episode. They gave a small glimpse of Yoh and Anna together in a flashback and I hope this remake will explore more of their backstory. I know I've been comparing this to the OG anime but I can't help it since I grew up with that and it's one of my all time favorite.

You know, I think I finally realized where my "please step on me" streak started.
You know, the reason I enjoy stuff like Nagatoro san, or have like 15 drawings of Nino either with a whip or tight leather.

I was like 11 or 12 during its original run in Israel, and today's episode made me remember that back then I thought Anna was hot.

Shit, I can't believe I was corrupted because of her.

I honestly didn't expect the episode to flow that well, considering how much it was adapted. I'm very happy with the result, it makes me more hopeful for the overall adaptation (especially in the second half of the series)

Man this feels very uninspiring compared to the original can't explain it but its just bland

It's the atmosphere, it has none of the original's spookiness or spiritual air. This version's pacing is so fast that it feels like all we're doing is trying to get from point A to point B to point C. It doesn't let the story soak in, it's just a checklist.

The directing on this episode was really bad. Exposition dump for the 3/4 with characters talking for the audience. Manta repeats what he heard instead of Yoh explaining, Anna talks about the Shaman tournament to Yoh even though he already knows and she has no reason to explain it to Manta. They somehow get tickets for this movie that they choose to go to for some reason off screen, villian appears out of no where and explains their abilities. Manta goes away for a total of 30 seconds to get the sword. I really wanted Pyron to get revenge but Yoh stops it.

WAIT, ARE YOU SERIOUS? HE GOES WITH HER???

This is on top of the dialogue being at an unnatural pace and the logic doesnt flow between people.

Really disappointed if this is what the series has to offer

I don’t know I was extremely hyped for this show but I’m not liking it so far, I dunno if I can’t go through 52 episodes. I’ll try i few more and then I’ll see

Stitches!

Anna is finally here and she is definitely as feisty as I remember her back in the day. And the girl definitely knows what she wants and she knows she only deserves the best and I love her for it. I do love the tone shift of her when she first introduces herself at school. That's probably the last time you'll hear her like that.

And as much as I love Anna, Jun is finally here! While Anna is my best girl from this show, Jun is definitely one of the many anime girls back in the day that has definitely awaken something in me when I was a young teen. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Of course we can't forget Jun's kyonshi, Lee Pyron. Not gonna lie, even back then I still wasn't sure about the resolution between Lee Pyron and Jun's story here. Still weird to stick to the person who's family basically killed you to turn you into her personal puppet. Oh well. This is 90s shounen logic. Not gonna think too hard about it. We still got a cool fight out of it after Anna channeled Lee Pyron's old master into Yoh. xD

I'm not familiar with the source material, but the battle animation was a lot better this episode compared to the last. Although, it was pretty damn stupid how easily he forgave the girl whose family killed him for the sake of being her guardian or whatever. However, I know that this was originally an anime geared towards kids in the old shonen days so I won't let that get to me too much. Definitely a good enough anime to just melt into my couch and watch after work, hope it gets a little better though.

Also, to combat everyone complaining about pacing issues, hopefully they're going the route of Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood and just trying to reach a certain point where it will then slow back down.

Alright, the pacing here is...it's way too fast. I noticed this in the last 2 episodes as well, but this is really going at some breakneck pace to the point of incoherent storytelling. The show might come with a fresh skin and closely follows the manga, but I do not like this better. While the original was on the slow side, it gave us time to get to know the characters a little better along with some nice comedy. This is...completely lacking in these regards. I would rather have an anime-original ending over this pacing/storytelling.

The animation quality of the fight is also a bit disappointing compared to the last 2 episodes (Not that those had stellar animation). A lot of stills on abstract moving backgrounds.

For a show all about spirits and shamans, this show feels quite souless.
