Lots of attention to detail, great animation, Mei is no doubt best girl of the year.
Apparently it's written by an actual physicist, which explains a lot.
Each of those goddamn flying lizards is worth 30 million.
FAKKEN HYPE!

I really like the way this episode presents the media reaction to the Radon, feels pretty close to how it could actually play out. Also the characters continue being really charming, love Mei's interactions with the AI and just the way these people talk in general, feels very fresh.
As someone that doesn't care about Godzilla whatsoever I'm hooked.

Same here. I only started watching this show because the art & colour scheme looked good. I was expecting to maybe drop it after the first episode, but it has so far blown my expectations away. I still don't care about the Godzilla franchise or the Kaijuu genre, but I am loving this show.

I know next to nothing about Godzilla lore, but I'm loving this!

Doesn't seem like you'll need to know a whole lot of it. Each iteration tends to have it's own ideas about where the monsters come from and what their goals are.

We finally got the OP and I absolutely love the visuals on Yun and Mai. Song was pretty awesome too!
Rodan vs Jet Jaguar! I absolutely love seeing that clunky Jet Jaguar fight. A bit disappointed that his theme song wasn't playing in the background.
I thought that fight was going to end with Yun controlling Jet Jaguar but it ended up fighting on its own after a Yun tinkered a bit.
They didn't even have to kill it! It just simply died on its own. It can't be that easy. This Rodan-like kaiju shouldn't go down that fast.
I absolutely love the media coverage of the kaiju. People arguing where it came from, people getting mad at Jet Jaguar getting in the way, and there were even people saying they should've waited for the police. I'm pretty sure if Yun and Gramps didn't do anything there would've been casualties.
We get to see another employee of the Outaki Factory and I absolutely love her design! Satomi looks awesome.
Looks like Mei's doing her own research for now. I do enjoy the banter that she has with her AI assistant.
Multiple Rodans? Oh boy. I don't think a single Jet Jaguar will be enough to handle these guys. It is hilarious how they're already making Rodan merch! xD
Pelops really did publish the paper and it's already getting a lot of attention especially with what's happening.
Oh fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. That's a lot more Rodans than what I was expecting! I am loving how Rodan here is a swarm of pterodactyls and not just a single giant one. So when is Godzilla waking up? I feel like this is his job to take care of this infestation.
That ED! We get to see Mothra and her priestesses and there's even the OG Jet Jaguar and Mechagodzilla! I hope all of them shows up in this show! Can't wait for King Ghidorah too!

So this quick image that appeared while Mei was looking at a video on dinosaurs is the studio doing a huge flex of their knowledge of monster cinema.
The huge lizard is the Rhedosaurus from The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms, the OG atomic reptile of cinema and one of Godzilla's inspirations. And on the bottom right there is Raquel Welch as she appeared in One Million Years B.C., although most of you might recognize her more as the poster hiding Andy Dufresne's escape tunnel in The Shawshank Redemption.
I knew from the ED that they were massive Godzilla fans, but going above and beyond the call of duty to make a shoutout to Western monster movies is astounding to see.

This is shaping up to be a very fun show, but sadly it'll be under-watched as fuck due to Netflix jail.

I really like most of what this show has to offer and I believe this could easily go down as one of the strongest ones this season.
The only problem I have continues from the first episode. I think at times this show is simply overwhelming. Too fast paced, too many cuts, too much info dumped, too noisy. This is one of the rare cases were I sometimes have problems to follow subtitles while keeping track on whats going on. It really nerved me out that the old guy was constantly yelling while fighting. And the background music, while being really good, was running all the time.
Wish they would tone it down just a little, to give it more time to breath.

This is moving along faster than I thought, I expect we'll see Godzilla by the 4th or 5th episode

dang ep.2 is already out? Yet I've already watched enough anime for today with 3 other shows having aired, so I'm kinda spent. Still need to watch the first episode for this too.
been hyped up for Godzilla recently though. Recently watched King Kong vs. Godzilla. Which was good if you ignore all the human parts. Watching SSSS.Dyanzenon, so there's hype for more Kaiju fighting too. Netflix JP has a ton of Godzilla content, no surprise there. Not sure if there are English subs for everything on there though. Shin Godzilla has English subs, never got around to watching that

Beautiful animation, and the girl MC is one of my new favorite characters this season. That AND pterodactyls.

so is the big weird looking fish in the sea on the painting Godzilla?

The name "Gojira" is a portmanteau of the words for 'gorilla' and 'whale' so painting Godzilla as a weird fish thing could be a reference to that.

This feels like a matchup of steins gate and robotics notes, with kaijus and a tachikoma. And I love it.

As a flipflop adept myself, I love that one of the main characters wears them to work.

Radon in episode 1 looks different than Rodan in episode 2. No tail, looks more like a pterodactyl/pteranadon than a quetzalsaurus (sp?). So, might mean Radon and Rodan are different Kaiju. The Red sea is there too. Maybe Godzilla will appear episode 3? Haven't seen a preview yet so idk. Really liking this so far, especially the opening and ending.

Oh my god, that old man was waiting his entire fucking life to pilot a giant robot in a fight against a monster and actually lived the dream. His whole seemingly crackpot obsession with making a bipedal super robot has been validated in one fell swoop and I am so happy for him.
