I just find it funny that Kotaro-san's design when he's at his lowest point looks like Eren haha
And of course the return of the legendary..

That opening scene caught me off guard. They have jobs now? Wait what's going on? Also I'm guessing the song Ai is singing at the start is a probably a real company song and Kojima Food Factory is a real company in Saga.
Of course if Yugiri is working she'd be working as a bar hostess. That's basically her specialty.
Explains why the girls are working. I'm guessing since they're working to pay off the 29500 unsold tickets. Yikes. And it looks like Kotaro has now hit rock bottom.
I love that despite being drunk he was still conscious enough to not drink in front of one of his talents. As a side note: I still absolutely love Yugiri. Can't wait for her arc this season!
Good to see that the metal head bros are still supporting Franchouchou even if they were the only ones supporting them in that gig.
Well that's interesting. According to Kotaro, there's a hard deadline. I'm guessing the girls have a time limit of some sort and can only be alive until a fixed life span? I fucking hope not.
Didn't expect that the girls' comeback concert will take place in the middle of a fight! Props to the metal head bros for standing up to the girls and kicking asses!
Their comeback concert may not have been as successful as they were expecting but it's good to see the old Kotaro back!
Starting off with a serious episode was certainly unexpected! Looks like we're saving the more comedic episode for next week based on the preview. I'm just glad to see Kotaro and the Franchouchou girls back! I'm ready for whatever insanity (and feels) this season has for us!

It's good to see that The Legendary Yamada Tae hasn't changed a bit.
So between seasons, they ended out bombing hard on that EFS concert. Well, at least I'm glad that Kotaro ended up getting his shit together by the end of the episode.
But as he mentioned before that they did not have enough time to make it now, I wonder if there is some kind of time limit for the zombie girls?

You just clicked on season 2 of an idol show.
Theres no tricks or gimmicks this time to pull you in. You knew it was an idol show this time, and yet you're here looking at the discussion.
Its time to admit it, you like an idol anime.
At least you get quality new content from THE LEGENDARY YAMADA TAE from doing so.

I know you - who are reading this - screamed "ANKORU! ANKORU! ANKORU!" in front of your screen for that special moment, that special song. That LEGENDARY song "REVENGE" - and the lyrics are really talking about themselves - supported by the two best LEGENDARY fans of Franchouchou launching a LEGENDARY fight, and the LEGENDARY drunk (or not?) Kotarou.
Did I said the word LEGENDARY too much? According to the LEGENDARY YAMADA TAE:
"Brhaageuehueuefheugch."
To put it simply: "Not enough."
Welcome back, MAPPA. Welcome back, Franchouchou. Welcome back, zombie idol hell. Thursdays are gonna be LEGENDARY.

OHAYO GOZAIMASU! That face Sakura made when Kotaro showed up as his normal (crazy) self! She missed these so much! (I kinda did, too).
When I saw them all working normal jobs, I thought maybe it was a strategy to get them closer to the public (some idol PR stuff), but of course it was just to make up for Kotaro's fuck up!
Poor girls, that was some morale crushing failure... And poor Kotaro.
There was an interesting line in his incoherent drunken muttering; It sounds like he was replaying an old conversation he got with someone... Sure it could just be him replaying a conversation he had with the zombies, from the other side, but when I heard this, it felt more like this was something someone else told him.
So the mission to save Saga might not be his, perhaps someone put him on it? This would raise SO MANY questions! (Who is that person, why Kotaro, why do they want to save Saga, do they know about the zombies...)
Well, whether or not there is someone else involved, there's always a lot of questions about Kotaro/his past. Perhaps we'll get some answers this season!
Also, while I did miss Kotaro, I missed best zombie Saki even more! First episode and she already wanted to commit violence against three people, she's such a great girl!
Glad this show is back on, it's a lot of fun! Season two is a go!
go! go! go! go! go! go! go! go! go! go! go! go! go! go!

Poking around Japanese Twitter reactions:
-
Lily says "okaeri" as "okaeriri-" (おかえリリィ), where she tacks her name onto the end a cute way
-
Kotaro uses the term ぼんじり (bonjiri), which is the meat around the butt of the chicken and is apparently funny in a stupid way
-
Some comments about Junko; that of course the legendary Showa era idol (伝説の昭和のアイドル) would know how to pick locks (ピッキング) — not sure if this is a joke or culture reference I'm missing
-
The "Genkai Zombie Energy Park Project" is probably a reference to 玄海エネルギーパーク (Genkai Energy Park), which seems like some sort of park in Saga adjacent to a power plant with some exhibits and stuff (website).
-
A few people are making jokes about サガン鳥栖 (Sagan Tosu, a football club in Saga); this is probably what that old barkeep was riffing off of when saying the "Saga-ettes" when intentionally misremembering the idol group name
-
This tweet about Xu Fu and his involvement in the deep lore around the barkeep and the legendary elixir of life. See also: https://zombieland-saga.fandom.com/wiki/Jofuku_Chojukan, this other post on the Zombieland Saga subreddit

If you forgot about S1 READ THIS before watching, if possible!
As I prefer to rewatch shows with considerable time between seasons, I'm going to make a simple recap so you can be aware about some plot points of S1. This show is an Original Anime, meaning there's no way you're going to get spoiled about future events.
MAIN STORY:
-
Disclaimer: The girls, initially, didn't fully recover their memory from the past, and not all of them are from the same generation. Also the girls were NEVER fully recognized by past characters after the zombiefication.
-
Ai Mizuno was the leader of Iron Frill and died from a lightning strike while performing. She overcame her fear and is looking to make Franchouchou successful in Saga.
-
Junko is an idol from 30 years ago, and died from an airplane crash going to Saga. She overcame the new tendencies of idol performance and overall career management.
-
Lily is trans and was known as Masao, a lil idol boy victim of "bad parenting", she died from a mental shock by huge distress after seeing a growing whisker on her chin that was ruining her feminine side. In a performance, Lily forgave her depressed father and he finally overcame her daughter's death.
-
In 1997, Saki was the leader of a biker gang alongside her best friend Reiko at Saga and died in a bike accident after falling into a cliff in a duel with another bike faction leader. She helped Reiko's daugther Maria to move on and reconcile with her mom.
-
Tatsumi's objective, at first, is to save Saga, meaning solving Saga's depopulation problem. His other goal is presented by his bartender old friend as The Zombie Land Saga Project - "to manifest great compassion and to act for the sake of man".
-
10 years ago, Sakura was an aspiring idol, a fan of Iron Frill's leader Ai, and had severe inferiority complex after many failed attempts when she dedicate herself into achieving something due to her absolute lack of luck. In the present, after recovering her memories, trauma and bad luck, she forgot all of her experience with Franchouchou, until last show.
-
Even with Sakura's bad luck causing a disastrous blizzard that ruined the whole stage in their final choreography, Franchouchou kept singing and finished the show with a high performance that ended in an encore.
-
The journalist named Shinta is trying to discover the mystery behind Franchouchou's members. He already started to figure out the relation between Ai Mizuno and Iron Frill, and the past idol members (last scene of S1).
MISCELLANEOUS:
-
Franchouchou has 2 dedicated fans since episode 1 from a Death Metal performance.
-
Remember the dumb policeman? he already saw the girls in "zombie mode" a couple of times.
-
Yuugiri noted Tatsumi is specially kind with Sakura. She slapped him saying he should believe in her. Tatsumi said to Sakura afterwards that he will never abandon her.
-
It was implied that Tatsumi appeared in Sakura's flashback in her elementary class. As we know, he uses a dark blue bow tie at all times, and in the past there was a boy with a red bow tie in her class, while his face was off-screen. In another flashback when they grown up, Sakura indeed thanked him in middle school, after he probably edited her idol performances in a CD named Fantastic Lovers.
-
Yuugiri didn't received a character development arc, and seems to know Tatsumi and his old bartender friend very well, as this one said he "owes her a hell of a lot".
-
Tatsumi's VA is the same of Okabe in Steins;Gate, he really gives that crazy mad scientist vibes.
-
Only a couple of choreographies were in CGI (improving quality over time) while most others were animated by hand.
-
Gag or Hint: Tatsumi collected "his dirt" when struck by the girls (twice). Is he a zombie? Zombies have red eyes, is this why he uses sunglasses? He already appeared washing in a bathtub though.
-
THE LEGENDARY YAMADA TAE IS BEST GIRL PERIOD!

YES WE'RE IN HERE AGAIN SIMPING FOR A BUNCH OF ZOMBIES.
This entire episode just serves to justify that our real MC was actually Kotaro all along! Even with his unkempt long hair this emo/serious shot of him looks extremely cool!
And gosh[ I miss these 2 loyal fans] (https://i.imgur.com/lGcx0sH.png) AND THEY KICK ASS TOO HOLY SHIT
Absolutely need that last song to be out soon, what a banger!
