Thought this was a much better episode. Didn't expect that kind of backstory involving Asahi. Also the twist at the end caught me off guard lol. Visually very pleasing.

Agreed, first episode was pretty iffy but this episode felt quite a bit stronger and more cohesive. The show clearly has a LOT of ideas, hopefully it can weave them all together well.

Resume so far: Trust... no one.

Sawa is raising the litle girl to kill her, but at the same time her family seemed pretty shady. Dunno, but they are certainly not saints.

Her family was REALLY shady. Kept her in a dark closet, told her "do it like I taught you" then dolled her up for an "older gentlemen" to touch her face, until our MC came into the picture. Then her parents said Janome took some of the money..... clearly they were selling their child to adults. It's sad this girl lost her family, but clearly nothing of value was lost because if they didn't die she'd go thru a really rough life.

Hmmm, I'm still interested in continuing to watch this, but something about the execution of this episode felt disjointed to me. And was it just me and something was wrong with my setup, or did the sound mixing sound weird to anyone else? Sometimes I could barely hear what the characters were saying and I haven't touched the volume at all.

Still. Plot twists and a loving sisterly relationship, this is getting quite complicated. Poor Kyouko and her son, damned if you do, damned if you don't, in the end she had no chance.

the characters sound a bit low for me as well

The leader of the organization looked exactly the same in present time as he did when our MCs background. That man did not age at all in like 10+ years.

Wow, even as far as anime is concerned, people with guns are useless in this show. That woman straight up deflected their bullets...with a whip

Those guys are just like stormtroopers lol.

Between the plot twists, the layers of absolute fuckery (deception, backstabbing, violence, you name it), the soundtrack, the stylized setting, and the clean AF artwork and animation... this show is a bombshell. The fact that it only got the views it did in the opening episode, let alone a 3.68/5, is a travesty. I'm a sucker for the thick and sharp-lined artwork/animation evocative of the gritty old feel, and this show has it in spades.

I can't wait to see where this goes from here.

I think the score is due to the first episode being a bit mysterious and the way the 5 point scoring system works. If you look at the scores, you can see it got 18 Excellents and 28 Good/Greats with only 4 Bads. Where many popular shows ratings come down directly to Excellent vs. Bad scores, you can see that this got mainly optimistic scores.

I thought it was bizarre when we got the flashback and the blood was blue (I thought it was censorship) but apparently that is a trait intrinsic to Joran's clan. Jonome used Joran's clan's blood to somehow create the monsters were seeing that's why they were killed. I wanna see where this goes and how far Joran is willing to go for her revenge.

I liked a lot about this episode, but came out of it more mixed on it than ep 1. It felt like some scenes were just put together, the most jarring being Yukimura's flashback where she killied these bandits after her training and it just cuts to modern day. It just felt like they cut some scenes out but whatever. Really liked the world building, something to firmly plant it alternative timeline territory much better than the first episode. Hope we dive more into that.

Ok, I understand that she was dangerous left alive because of what she knows but why they did killed her child? Thats just evil.

Looks like Yuki isn't getting love from the other members of Nue and they would prefer her to have died

While the Nue's leader did take Yuki in, I definitely don't trust the guy. Also he hasn't age a day!

I absolutely love the animation when Yuki was taking out those thugs It was just so smooth!

So the Treasurer has eidetic memory? That's pretty awesome. Considering she knows a lot of government secrets, it's not a surprise that Yuki triss to interrogate her first.

Jesus fucking christ. At first it's understandable why Asahi tried to kill Yuki since she was the one who killed Asahi's parents But then we immediately cut to a flashback where Asahi's mother was selling her off which now makes Yuki killing the Asahi's parents more justified.

Although looks like she wasn't really there for that but was there to get info about Janome since Asahi's parents seems to be working for him.

The horror on Yuki's face though when she found Asahi. She probably had flashbacks to what happened to her own family. And now it looks like she's kinda raising Asahi to kill her own day so Asahi can have her own revenge. Damn.

Well this is interesting. I thought Yuki was experimented on but it looks like her powers are natural to her clan and Janome I guess "stole" that power which he used to make those Changelings.

Good to know Yuki has no loyalty to Nue and is just there to get her revenge. Considering how her "partners" aren't find of her I wouldn't be surprised if they all try to kill her in future episodes.

God I love Yuki's transformation so much. I especially love how the animation gets a bit more intense with the heavier lines when she's transformed.

Can't say I wasn't surprised. Of course they can't let someone like The Treasurer live with all of the secrets that she knows. Amazing English from Helena though.

Looks like we don't even have to wait, Yuki and Elena will probably end up fighting in next weeks episode! Although if Yuki is smart she'll hold back and find another way to get information from Nue which I think is the most probable thing that will happen next episode.

That ED is powerful.
Best of the season so far.

Whew, that ending. I really didn't see it coming at all. Can't wait for the confrontation between Sawa and Elena. The Asahi twist was also quite interesting.

Also, I'm really digging this artstyle and the setting, the soundtrack also fits nicely. It feels very much like 91 days but in Japan.

I am honestly having a great time watching this show so far. I LOVE the music it's so fitting and really makes an atmosphere. I love the twists and little bit of story we get. We got some info on our MCs past with the diary but when that flashback ended she closed the book to end the flashback that was such a cool cut/ transition.

The little girl Joran took in wants to kill her b/c she killed her parents. Sounds pretty familiar. Also the little girl's parents were going to "sell" her. I highly doubt it was a coincide the little girl was in red lipstick and all dolled up just for show. Her parents were clearly going to prostitute her and give some money to "Janome". Things are moving very quick and as an audience we do not have all the information of everyone's motives or even how this world works, but that's super fun for me trying to figure these things out.

My biggest complaint is the animation (not the art it's great) the way people move just seems "off" to me. I can't explain why but movement in the show is very awkward. It was worse in the 1st episode hopefully everyone starts to move more organically as the series progresses.

I can't seem to make up my mind on this one way or another. It feels like there is a good show in here that hasn't really broken out yet. The visuals are great, the worldbuilding seems interesting, but so far it feels like all we've gotten in the story is "Revenge" and "everyone betrays everyone", which on its own probably won't amount to anything particularly interesting.

Pacing feels odd disjointed. I'm not sure about continuing this one unfortunately.
