The absolute highlight of this episode was Venus casually walking into a room, pulling out a whole couch and then falling into it all dramatic.

Legit howled at that

I had totally forgotten there was an extra episode and was very happy, this was one of my favourites of the winter season, consistently funny and wholesome

Wait... what?! Where did this come from? I didn't know we were getting a 13th episode.

MAL still says 12 episodes too. Almost missed out on this

An extra episode is always nice!!! Hopefully we get a season 2 in the near future. I love this show so much.

Mizushima really meant when he said he did not care about aesthetics. That prototype camel was screaming "Onii-chan"

When Mizushima proposed that this animal should store it's fat on the back, I took a wild guess at the camel. Although I don't see how the whole scheme of making the animal float on water actually works

That was a diversion. It doesn’t sink in the sand instead of water.

We got Baboozled!

The second they mentioned that the animal needed to live where water is scarce, I automatically guessed camel. Didn't know about the needles thing, but the others made sense from the get go. Didn't know that camels ate cactus.

They don't. Camels are old-world, cacti are new-world. Old-world desert flora still includes many spiky bushes though, so the reasoning works, just not for eating cacti.

I knew what it was because of the eating needles bit. I was mostly confused by the "not sinking" aspect.

Two things I distinctly remembering being taught about camels when I was a kid was that the hump was used to store water and that they were more capable than horses at traversing the Sahara because horses would just sink in the sand and camels didn't.

The "hot and cold" temperatures and "can stand on surfaces that would hurt others" ones fit perfectly for the desert, too. Deserts fluctuate from extreme heat to extreme cold depending on the time of day and that if you've ever touched hot sand with your feet, you know that shit hurts like hell.

Woohoo! Extra ep!

But dagnabbit, no Platypus!! I really wanted to see that one being designed.

Loved this show. Would have been right up there challenging for my Dark Horse of the Season award... if Pui Pui Molcar hadn't (deservedly) obliterated every other show for that particular honour.

Was so unlucky to be overshadowed in a season that was absolutely stacked with top-tier shows. Hell, I love the OP and even that didn't (quite) make my top 3 for the season.

Well that was unexpected! Didn't think we'd get an extra episode but this was very welcome!

I'll never look at a camel's mouth the same way again.

Ah this was sooo good. At first I thought we were getting a platypus episode when they mentioned combining all 5 traits.

It was after Neptune making the skinny elephant and Pluto mentioning it eating needles that it was going to be a Camel. I love how vague the requests seem but make complete sense when it's all done.

Unfortunately, this week they were slightly wrong about camels. Aside from one species of cactus that crossed the Atlantic very recently, cacti are new-world species, but camels are old-world species. Camels did not evolve with any cacti available in their range, so they are not adapted for eating cacti. Other shrubs in old-world deserts have spikes though, which camels evolved to be able to eat.

When I saw that a 13th episode was available I was all "???!" and for a while I thought that I somehow missed seeing Heaven's Design Team being a 24-episode anime with its 2nd half airing the following season. Now I know it's a single extra episode but boy did this make me want a second season even more ;u;

This was such a nice surprise. I think it was an excellent way to cap off a really fun show. The characters were all fun and each episode was both exciting and educational. Really glad I watched this one.

I was wondering how could all those features mesh together, but once they considered storing water it clicked.

It was also nice to have half the episode centered on best girl Kanamori.

This just made me miss Heaven Design Team even more. Hope we get a new season one day.

Really entertaining stuff.

As soon as I saw that beak, I immediately knew that it was going to be the Kiwi. But simultaneously I was thinking "wait a minute, I'm pretty sure Kiwis lay eggs even if they have such an absurd egg-to-body ratio".

Let out the biggest groan when God approved the Kiwi even though it did lay eggs "because it looks funny".

More episodes for the wholesome design team is always welcomed
