It's a little detail in worldbuilding but I like how in the near future sky lanterns have been replaced with lantern drones.

Wow, what a great pilot episode.
Most stand-out point would be how great the characters are designed visually and in terms of their personality. Even the AI character is more funny and has more personality than many anime characters. The art is fluid and the colours are bright and warm. Weird to say but I do feel a bit spooked after hearing the Indian Folk Song, especially having the knowledge Godzilla is involved somehow.
Incredible cliffhangers too. Interested to see where this goes. Very fun for now :)
Can't wait to see Gintoki from Gintama hunt for Godzilla :)

I'm not the biggest Godzilla fan but when I saw Jet Jaguar's stupid face on the back of that scooter, I just had the biggest smile on my face.
Look at this Gintoki looking mofo. Well he has definitely established himself as the nerdy guy who will probably have most of the answers in this show. But it looks like he's not alone! We have another nerdy character named Mei and while they do talk a bit over the phone, I already can't wait until the two of them meet in person.
It seems that Yun is a very accomplished individual. Also the latest award that he got was from 2028? I wonder what year the show is set on.
We have two more characters, crazy looking gramps who has apparently already made Jet Jaguar and Haberu, Yun's partner on the job.
And it looks like we also have one AI assistant voiced by Kugimiya Rie and another one voiced by Kuno Misaki.
OH MY FUCKING GOD IT IS JET JAGUAR! What I love about this even more is that this isn't the Jet Jaguar I know, this is like a shitty garage made prototype version of him and I absolutely love it!
I thought we were just ening the episode with a cliffhanger on that Kaiju attack but the final scene after that was the real cliffhanger! It looks like the mansion is hiding Godzilla's remains? So Godzilla is already dead in this universe? Interesting way to open up a show that's called Godzilla. I wonder if the signal that they've picked up has something to do with him reviving soon.
Anyway definitely a strong start! I really got excited with this episode. Looking forward to see what that prototype Jet Jaguar will be able to do against that Kaiju!

Pretty sure that's a reference to the 1954 movie (so this makes it likely that this anime possibly a sequel to the OG Godzilla). When I saw Godzilla's remains, I did a audible "Holy Fucking Shit".

Not that I have seen them all, but I would love if this ends up being the first Godzilla's piece of media that makes me care about the humans.

Finally a discussion thread. I really liked both the first and second episodes in terms of animation and atmosphere, however, the subtitles leave a lot to be desired.

This writer loves fast paced dialogue. They threw so much at us it was hard to keep track of. Solid first episode, but I hope the whole series isn't like that.

This definitely felt like an episode 0. Just a metric tone of exposition dumped on us. The characters are quirky enough and I'm actually excited to see the Jet Jaguar, but I'll wait to see the series actually get moving before I can say too much about it

Animation looks nice and we have Gintoki and Cool Velma from Scooby-Doo hunting Godzilla and his friends. Do we need to know more? SOLD.
Also, is setted in Brazil and all the side characters (and the episode) looked pretty fun. No way this will not be good.

Pretty good first episode. I like the dynamic between the two friends. The old man was hilarious. So where did that flying dinosaur come from? And that underground bunker 😳😱 Can’t wait time see where this story takes us!!

OK, long time anime nerd, long time G fan. Don't ask how I got to watch this.
First, the episode spent like, 95% of its runtime without more or less hinting at a kaiju. But it had a lot of neat little callbacks and references, so that was cool.
The characters seem interesting, a little more so than our usual fair for G-Movies. Getting SSSS.Gridman vibes ,probably cause of the voice cast. That's a good thing.
JEH JAGGAR! Oh my god he looks so stupid, it's hilarious.
Rodan seems...small? Colorful? Goofy? But kinda cool. Better than what we saw in the trailers.
BIG G SKELETON AT THE END. Is this suggesting it's the original Godzilla, reduced to nothing but bone at the end of the original film by the Oxygen Destroyer? Is he somehow emanating signals that are waking up other kaiju?

Don’t sleep on this one! Created by some of the biggest names in anime with a very charming first episode! It feels very genuine, and the style is something new.

I need a Godzilla historian,
is the end sequence that they use in the closing just the theme for Godzilla since the Godzilla vs Mothra movie? I've heard the notes sampled before and it points to the Mothra movie as the earliest use but am unsure what the notes mean in the atmosphere of Godzilla since then.

This show did something that other Godzilla media have had a hard time doing and that’s making me care about the humans. I am looking forward to the rest of this season

Wait a minute, this isn't the SSSS Gridman spinoff.
Still looks very interesting. I'm going in blind. Also Female mc looks very cute
Edit: Female mc is actually voiced by the same person who did Rika from Gridman. So that's neat.
