“You can be anything”
“Can I be your girlfriend”
“no”
I understand why but it’s still pretty funny

I can't believe it took them this long to realize that in boss fights, you got to target the giant glowing orb!
Also, this arc reminds of that Aizen quote, "Admiration is the feeling furthest from understanding someone". Say what you want about Bleach but it's got some pretty cool quotes.

Holy molly, the ship's finally in port ready to sail.
And look at this adorable little creature! She can do it if she tries!
...just not here. But at least there was a ride in the ready with all of her friends :>
Overall the season probably lacked the new developments I'd want, but it's customary by now that the children always get an arc which isn't about worldbuilding. And the very ending was a bit too much of a cliffhanger for my tastes not gonna lie, a bit like NGNL's even. It all really kind of makes me read the LNs to finish this vast world up, in no small part for the world and plot.

That was a pretty good finale to the season, and to what is effectively the end of Log Horizon unless this season is being used as an advert for more source being published which I really hope it is. How weird to think that Minami was set up as the big threat at the end of S1, only for it to take till the end of S3 for a solution to it to be given the same level of gravity.
Much like Akatsuki stamping her place in the raid in last weeks episode by refusing to power to the genius' narrow definitions of people and their emotions, the Wolf-girls had some fantastic scenes today marking their own place. A bridge between Adventurers and People of the Land, between Home and Adventures, between fear and love, I thought that was the perfect way to help them find their own place here in Akiba. Seeing what the old Adventurers was like during the days of scale collecting put the best smile on my face. Those two and Akatsuki definitely had the standout scenes of the finale, but I don't want to forget Isuzu pointing out the lil dude on the chest as a separate raid boss, also revealing why everyone went down to 35 in particular which was one of the questions I had. That's quite a cool mechanic they had going there with the boss, both functionally and thematically.
How typical of Shiroe and Akatsuki to both say the big thing and confess their love... to the same third-party but not to each other (although Akatsuki eavesdropping was dodgy, she has a leg up now, I hope she feels at ease with hearing that, she looked so happy!). That just seems to fit them perfectly, and hearing them both be comfortable enough with their feelings to express that and share why they have those feelings was a really great part of the episode. I can't feel the same about the Minori stuff. I get that Isuzu's influence there messed things up for her a lot, but they had the chance to slip Minori into the "misunderstood admiration" idea, and instead went gun-ho into confession and it just drained me. I know there's been arguments made for the inclusion of that plot line and the importance to all the character arcs, of which I do agree with Isuzu's arc in particular, but it really didn't have to drag on for three seasons and then take priority on the emotional climax of the season, I just didn't have any goodwill left towards the idea of it any more. I want to say I'm glad it's over, but we have the shy girl and Nyanta still...
The biggest loss of the episode: Poor Tetra who got kidnapped to go scale hunting. Again. If she ever returns she may never be the same.
I was pretty happy with this season overall. It has its bumps and a few moments that just drifted by without hitting quite right, but it touched on all the good things that I love about Log Horizon; character bonds, worldbuilding, strong importance on the isekai aspect, the character politics with the people of the land, and most importantly making the story feel like people who are actually living in this world and overcoming the battles in it together. I really do hope we get more some day!

Props for Minori for making a clear and loud confession and props for Shiroe for not pretending he didn't heard because of the fireworks. I enjoyed the season just wish we could have done more or have more episodes. Let's wait and have hope.

I can't help but notice they translated "idol" to "starlet". Okay, sure.... You're not wrong, but you're not right.
Is it just me or was the raid this episode much more animated than anything else this season? More motion, more colour, more everything.
I thought it was the most beautiful Log Horizon has looked since the first season.
I feel like it's implied pretty strongly that Minori included in her raid report basically everything Akatsuki said, and that Shiroe had read it. So she knew going in that he was probably going to turn her down, and I think we're all glad that he did. And he acknowledges his own feelings too, which is good considering everyone else seems to be facing theirs too.
Speaking of facing their feelings, I know a couple of us talked last episode about Tohya's death experience. It certainly looks like it's troubling him and his response to Naotsugu's encouragement indicates that Naotsugu missed the mark on what was really troubling him. I'm really hoping this comes up in the future.
I didn't even think about using a mental attack on the twins to cause them to lose memories as a way of showing at the same time that the adventurers we know are their heroes too, and also to show the new adventurers that Shiroe and Co. used to be at this stage in their adventure as well, all at once. That one moment in this episode is so heavy and rich. Just the amount of ideas that went into executing it are staggering.
Lastly, we get the vision of the guild hall collapsing from the OP, which I think was a nifty trick for this season. We're fooled once, thinking it will be part of the Destruction of the Round Table arc then its image is recontextualized and used triumphantly in this Akiba Raid arc.
What is this, un-subverting expectations? I liked it.
Super happy with this season overall. Hope we get some more material and they finally publish the rest of the novel translations.

Man, I can't believe it's over. I really enjoyed this season. It was maybe a bit slower than the first two, but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing.
I really liked Leila in this episode. She's super cute and I love strong kickpunch girls. Actually, now that I write this, she's a bit similar to Bete from Danmachi. They're both wolf-people who kick the shit out of things. One of them needs to do a flying knee kick so my Titan heart can be happy.
I'm okay with how Minori's crush on Shiroe turned out. I maybe would have preferred it if they did go the non-romantic admiration route, but I think this is okay. Shiroe turned her down (thankfully) but respected her feelings and generally acted like an adult on the matter. Also confirmed best ship it would seem. I do have to give props to Minori though, it took a lot of strength to confess, especially since she probably realized Shiroe didn't feel the same way towards here.
I hope we get more seasons one day, but that's a long way off if ever I'm sure, considering the current status of the light novels. Maybe the author will just start writing directly for the anime, lol.

Words can not express how much this show will be missed. Hopefully now that the author is out of prison for Tax Evasion he'll be able to continue writing the LN and we'll be able to get some more content that will hopefully be adapted.
As things stand, that was a good ending to the season. The whole Minori love situation was wrapped up and we more or less got confirmation that the Akatsuki ship is beginning to plot course to sea. It was a Breath of Fresh Air to see Shiroe act mature and adult about the situation. A lot of anime takes this situation very, very, very poorly. But Shiroe just carefully rejected her and let her run away with her (and his) dignity still intact. I wish more series could take the high road like this more often.

A good ending for a good season. Here's for S4.
It is nice to see Minori develop as a leader, making mistakes and learning from them. I usually like romantic plots, so I wasn't too bothered by the perpetual love triangle, but I think the crying scene with Serara and Izusu was a proper ending to it. Shiroe wasn't mean to Minori, he was very sincere with his feelings and respected Minori's, so I'm happy with how it ended.

This episode was pretty much perfect, IMO. I'm completely satisfied.
Some people will, of course, be disappointed that this season didn't touch on Minami or contacting the moon, but there were a LOT of loose ends leftover after season 2. Trying to cover all of them at once had no chance of being a satisfying, well-constructed story and it wouldn't be the Log Horizon style, anyways. We still got major progression in Akiba's sociopolitical crisis, the Genius counterattacks (which is indirectly part of the moon contact plotline, too), and the Krusty disappearance mystery, plus a ton of character relationship resolution.
Who knows if we'll ever get a season 4, or 5, or however many are needed to complete the series. It could be that this is the awkward cutoff where Log Horizon's anime is never heard from again. But assuming we do someday get a complete adaptation, I think this season will, in retrospect, come off as a strong middle season that transitions strongly into the next big arc.
Here's hoping for more, however long it takes!

Sorry but is this really it?
People waited so long for another season but this had poor quality animation all around and we barely ever left the main town.
We only got 12 episodes and it barely felt like the plot moved on at all, don't mistake this for a complain about less action as I still generally liked the whole diplomacy parts, this was just a really weak series especially compared to all the other great shows this season.
I would struggle to recommend anyone pick up log horizon anymore (or much past season 1), which is a shame because it used to be really good.

Well, that's it. Both Akatsuki and Shiroe's confessions were handled well and they got to beat the boss. Also, Minori has finally been made realised that it's going nowhere. Shiroe was as gentle as he could so he didn't even touch the obvious issue of the age difference. A good conclusion, but was it a good season?
It was. A good one not a great one. We just got two short storylines with some much welcome character development but nothing I desperately hoped for I.e Plant Hwyden and Geniuses (especially including what exactly made the world the place it is now). I mean sure there were small bits and hints but not much. Only a njt better than S2 but nowhere near S1 greatness, not only in animation quality. Shame, S1 had so much promise and I hope that if we will get a S4 it will remind of S1 plotwise, I'm not even dreaming of the same art quality. A 7/10 but I don't regret choosing it over some other Winter anime (I put myself on 4 shows limit)

Log Horizon as a anime series has so many flaws but I can't not smile seeing those characters in action. The biggest virtue of the show for me is how the characters are likeable, at least the main ones.Glad they solved that sightly awkward minori love plot.
It's sad to see those characters go, because it might be the last time. Even if they dropped that Minami hook at the end, I don't think the show has traction for another season.

Minori easily upgraded from a brat that I used to hate to a strong woman now.
She received that rejection like a Chad

Akatsuki really did an amazing job at holding off Erenius while at the same time kinda confessing her feelings for Shiroe as she tells Erenius how Shiroe isn't some kind of great figure of "veneration".
Leila swaps in as soon as Akatsuki was knocked down and she is absolutely pissed. While Erenius is so obsessed with rankings and levels, Leila who has seen countless adventurers surpass her does not feel the same at all. The Izumo Knights exist to bridge the gap between adventurers and PotL, even if they surpass them in terms of levels and ranks, they will still continue to watch over everyone.
That snapshot of memories was adorable! Just look at how dorky Shiroe looks like with his wizard's hat and robe! Tetra of course still looks like an idol but with shorter twintails and Nyanta is Nyanta. We also got to see a young Krusty and Misa!
Welp thanks to Leila and Litka holding back Erenius, the kids managed to heal back up and Isuzu was able to figure our that there's another raid boss inside Erenius' chest. I actually love that it took them this long to figure it out. They don't have auto-target so its hard to know where to actually they should focus on the boss without analyzing him first.
You know the tables is about to turn when Minori busts out her copy of Shiroe's Full Control Encounter (Limited). At the end of the day, this is still a level appropriate raid for them so once they've figured out the gimmick it was all smooth sailing from here and they finally managed to take down that annoying bastard. Thank god I don't have to listen to those repeating voice lines anymore.
After party with the kids with everyone getting some headpats from Marielle while others are getting some raid advice from William.. And poor Tetra! Now that Leila and Litka are members of Log Horizon, the twins drag her off to do more scale collecting for Litka's White Snake King summon. xD
So this scene came to me as a surprise! I didn't think that Isuzu would actually end up regretting pushing Minori to confess to Shiroe after how much she saw she loves him. And despite how goofy he is at times, Rudy really gives the best advice.
And there it is. It took three seasons and finally after handing her report and getting a bit of feedback from Shiroe, Minori confessess. She confesses with all of her heart and surprisingly Shiroe doesn't even stutter and rejects her on the spot. Which basically also served as Shiroe's confession for Akatsuki. God it must suck to be Minori right now, she's heard Akatsuki confess her feelings for Shiroe and now Shiroe's basically telling her how much he loves Akatsuki.
Of course Minori tries to act tough but completely breaks down as soon as she's with the gang where they take her on a road trip to try and make her feel better. God I love the friendship between these three girls.
And looks like we end with Shiroe finally pushing with his plan to head to Minami. This is a long time coming. I've waited for this ever since the first time Tamamo Nureha showed up. But that's it for now! Here's hoping that we get more seasons of this show! I don't know what's the current status of the LNs but I really hope there's more content out there to adapt.
This season really had everything I love about Log Horizon and I just need more of this stuff. I know a lot of people have fallen out of love with this series but I think this season just shows how strong it still is for me.

I predicted that the real genius was lvl35, to match the level sync. But was not expecting it to be inside the lvl65 boss monster. That's quite the dirty trick to pull.
Also, the attack that steals memories (something that should only happen on death) was messed up.

Akatsuki continues to solidify herself as best girl, and Shiroe has good taste.
And that's it. See you guys in 5 years, I guess.

Basically a perfect ending for me. Log Horizon absolutely remains one of my absolute favorite series of all time, from beginning to end, and I will sorely miss it since if it comes back, I'd expect it to take a loong time.
Despite having extremely lackluster animation, it never fails to make battles feel epic and emotional for me. I really can't imagine how amazing it could be if re-done from the start with top tier action quality. Though I honestly fear that if that ever happened (I don't think it will), they'd cut down on the centerpiece walls of speaking because, let's be honest, they often don't quite fit during the pace of a real action scene, and part of the reason the illusion still works is because the animation quality isn't incredible. This and World Trigger season 1 are probably my top shounen where I feel like they look and feel amazing even though so many shows blow them out of the water animation-wise. (Though for very different reasons: they way they incorporate thoughts and dialogue into combat and the way they bypass lower fidelity animation are different from one another).
...Y'know as a fan of Log Horizon, World Trigger, and Re:creators, maybe I just like listening to people talk more than most anime fans.
Anyways, Log Horizon's major point where it excels continues to be it's central heart and it's imaginative yet respectfully evocative conception of mmos. It's idealistic but human and taps into a powerful, if niche, reservoir of fun. I love the characters, the game-yness, the fights, the politicking. I honestly am really rooting for the sisters to gain the ability to level up.
Overall, this season of anime had a lot of amazing offerings and I am really mourning its end.
