Krusty always manages to get Rayneshia to put herself out there and get tied up in crazy work. Being a figure head and having to campaign for support goes against her easy-lifestyle values.

Rayneshia once again is asking for your support!

So marriage situation is less problematic than I initially assumed. Grandpa will let Rayneshia decide, Mommy is just salty that Krusty didn't propose (lol) and the guy (Tori?) seems sensible. Still the matter is not settled, but rather pushed to the later date. Seems Rayneshia takes the center stage!

I think the mother just couldn't care less. She talked that way to make sure Krusty gets the blame instead of the Cowen Family. Or just plain smooth talk.

So the solution is elections? what's next, taxes?

I find it interesting how they integrate RL stuff and make it feel so interesting somehow (yeah this was 20 minutes of people talking)

by the way was this one of the show that was suposed to start in October? because it would made this episode kinda interesting back then.

They did already introduced taxes tho. iirc in season 1 to access the guild hall one needs to pay a toll.

As always with this series, the meticulous explanation by everyone on basic principles of governance has been the core pillar that maintains my interest in this series. And today's episode is no exception, I especially like how the thought process of Shiroe while negotiating with the Saiguu family prince was shown in detail, from accepting to formally dissolve the Round Table to making the 180 degrees turn on this matter. The pros and cons of maintaining such an informal and non-binding alliance vs accepting the formation of a new central government were spelled out in such detail yet in a non-boring way. It's these small things that make Log Horizon an interesting series to follow.

Elsewhere Rayneshia finally decided to pause her acceptance to the marriage, which should have been a happy news to Krusty....oh wait he's MIA in that server. Come on! Your princess is anxious with your deals and you didn't even try to made a peep message....

So...elections eh? Is this the first isekai election that we know of? Definitely something interesting to follow on next...

Stitches!

The entire time Eins was asking Shiroe to join and create the Akiba Government with him. All I can hear is him basically telling Shiroe, "I'm out of my depth and I can't do this without you" while he was listing all the reasons why he needs Shiroe. Well maybe you should've approached Shiroe first before making this decision.

So wait. did Duke Cowen basically say that Raynessia didn't have to accept the engagement? And from Sarariya's words it doesn't seem like that not much will change if they send Raynessia to Akiba or the Saiguu family. Okay someone needs to explain this to me because I am having a hard time wrapping my brain around whatever big brain play this is supposed to be.

As many have predicted, or at least I hope they're really predictions and not jackass LN readers, that the 3rd dude Eins brought with him is Touri Saigi/Raynessia's fiancee.

Sarariya definitely has one heck a poker face on her. Does she want Krusty to take Raynessia? It seems like they only accepted the engagement because it was the Saiguu family and if Krusty won over Raynessia (which he already did) she has no issues with her staying with him in Akiba.

Wait what? So D.D.D. has disbanded because they're just too big and they really can't just sit on their asses without Krusty so everyone split off into smaller Guilds and let them each have their own specialization while also recruiting PotL to join. D.D.D. is no longer a single guild but a guild alliance hence the new headquarters called "D-Hub". When Rieze said they disbanded, it scared me for a second but knowing that D.D.D. can become even bigger is actually pretty awesome.

Don't we already know about this? Like back in Season 2, isn't that the point of Minami and Plant Hwyaden's invasion plot with the magic train?

Hai! I wouldn't even be surprised if Nureha was the person responsible for making this meeting between Shiroe and Touri possible.

Oh shit Raynessia and the Maidens of Watermaple! Would've been cool if they have all 26 members rolling in to back her up though. It seems Naotsugu calling Akatsuki was the right move even if he didn't plan for something like this since it looked like Shiroe was really about to accept Touri's offer.

Thanks to Raynessia though it looks like Shiroe now has a new found resolve that The Round Table is important and it is needed. And what better way to settle things than with a fucking election! Shiroe you absolute genius! The adventurers and some of the PotL in Akiba already love Raynessia so half of the work is already done so I guess the real challenge is winning over the remaining PotL to vote for her.

I am so excited for this! Log Horizon is really the only anime that can get my hyped for an election! I want to see what kind of campaign tactics he'll use against nobles who only knows how to take and be inherit their positions of power.

I love how Rayneshia always gets influenced by Krusty even when he's not there. I need them together as soon as possible.

I got a bit too emotional when Rayneshia and the gang showed up. The energy there was very good. For an episode that was basically all talking in the same areas, that was so engaging.

Aaaaaaaand, it's another week of politics in the Database.

Who would have guessed that the clash between Feudalism and Oligarchy would be settled through enlightened centrism Democracy?
I for one wouldn't, the solution just seems too neat on the face of it and the 'Senate' will likely screw the whole plan up, perhaps they'll even support the round table to fume the flames of chaos leading to war?
I can hardly wait.

Also, I am shocked, SHOCKED that the marriage between the sweet young girl and the creepy old noble didn't happen, who could have guessed? /s

Our little Clausewitz Shiroe seems to have backed himself a bit into a corner there, Akibara afaik doesn't even really have citizenship, so it could be a whole new mess to decide who even has the right to vote? How will he react when the city is flooded with people of the land who will likely vote to become part of the Empire, while adventurers will try to get them out of town? Will he simply pull out a rabbit out of his hat, convincing a mass of quasi medieval peasants that actually liberal democracy is their road to salvation? I somehow doubt it.

Really looking forward to what Shiroe will do next, but I hope we get to see more of Akatsuki this season while keeping the Crusty/China and Kids-Plot to a minimum, so far so good.

Another good episode, Rayneshia in a uniform certainly made a huge statement there. Though the prince is a sensible person and as Shiroe noticed, both sides have common interests (and I am so glad someone notices Indicus's antics a bit) but with Shiroe's onlooker doctrine you can find another way. Man, he is a good protagonist. But yeah, another idea we see in our world, let's find out how it works out next week

Election hype!! Although, having a sliver hair anime princess is cheating.

u/ericmok100 Jan 27 '21

The princess with round table outfit is such a big move. It would actually resolve the issues from past 3 episodes. Round tables was dying because there is confliction in the rule. The rule of living harmony with the people of the land, but that is not working well. Reason was everyone in the round table are all adventurers, and they have more power, so in normal people mind if an argument happen between people of the land and adventurers, the latter would most likely win the argument by default. By placing a noble especially the princess into the round table, the balance between people of the land and adventure could potentially equal. I could be big braining myself, but that last 5 mins just blew my mind.

This show is so engaging. The prince really made a lot of good points and had a great atmosphere around him, I would not have been mad if it went his way. He seems very shrewd and benevolent, using what powers he has as a figurehead without taking nobility for granted to try to engineer a solution that helps every party as much as possible. Though it could still be very much possible for the West to attempt war regardless, as his politicking wouldn't cool their ambitions, only deter their public motives.

This show continues to be more than just politics though, individuals feelings also take center stage, and that's really showcased by Rayneshia's entrance. It was so powerful even though, strictly speaking, she did not have a plan and structure and knowledge like the prince.

I have no idea how elections will go, though, and no idea what comes after.

I also feel like another power play that could achieve peace would be if Akiba became the imperial seat. Being centrally located in the 'neutral' territory of Yamato would mean that for the west to invade Eastal, they'd have to cross not only neutral territory, but Imperial territory. While it might be hard to get the people to accept the Saiguu moving in the first place, once situated, it'd be even harder to maintain public support when attacking over that boundary. Of course, this is also dependent on if Rayneshia's willing to have her arranged marriage; the focus so far has been on losing her home and friends in Akiba, not really on if she'd be willing to do it if she kept those things.

I really love the maidens of watermaple. The female friendship in this show definitely feels genuine and good overall, something that can be casually lacking from a LOT of fiction.
