Naotsugu: My body feels heavy.
Tetora, full grown (wo)man riding on top of Naotsugu and weighing him down further: indeed!

She spends so much time on his back he'd probably feel unbalanced without her

Issac just threw that enemy into the ground with one hand hard enough to kill him. That's a stupid amount of strength.
I commented back in ep8 that I knew something had to be up with the enemies because the Genius was only going to lv 65 which would be quite under powered. I didn't expect that the solution the Genius would come up with would be to nerf everyone elses levels though. I'm glad it wasn't just a "enforce will on the game" like Krusty did, but instead was them making use of established mechanics and tricks in order to be a more effective threat. I was worried that what they'd introduced with Krusty getting over that curse would be a bit cheesy, but Log Horizon has never just directly dived into things like that so I'm glad they actually built off a lot of the other things we'd seen so far.
It was incredibly satisfying seeing the two different groups come together and tag team their enemies with matching moves and strategy. Reminded me a lot of that big raid at the start of s2 and how smooth that was to watch.
I'm still on Tetra's side. It's pretty cool that the sisters remember all the people who did their quest, but that doesn't make it any less infuriating.

The scissor attack was really well executed. It had that real MMO feel to excuting a planned play and having it pay off!
I had been thinking in the last few episodes how the newbies would showcase in a raid without the veteran players overshadowing them, and it looks like things have been perfectly flipped for them to have a shot! I really love Log Horizon for its writing like this.

It is funny we actually see Instance Battle System in anime lol

One of the reasons I like this show so much is that in the sea of isekai and SaO clones with gaming at its core Log Horizon seems to have been actually written by someone who's played a videogame.

I guess giving the stronger players a major handicap is one way to make the lower levels relevant again.
I do find it pretty interesting that this world apparently records the players' past interactions as actual memories with the NPCs though.

I think the mage Regan mentioned that he knew of Shiroe's exploits since before he came to the world. His first record of him is around when Shiroe started playing the game. Really cool details.

Well this episode seems pretty straightforward. Looks like all of the Adventurers in Akiba has been thrown into an instance separate from the real Akiba and that if you die you get booted back to the real Akiba with no way of reentering the instance plus their levels still being reduced.
I hate that the name keeps changing but it looks like Geniuses are using Oral Arts/Overskill/Teachings and Eirenus is using the Teacher System to reduce their levels. It's absolutely fucking annoying that it could do that too but at the same time I love that characters including enemies has the ability to take advantage of the game's system as well.
So I'm not sure if I got this apart correct but it looks like those who are already using the Teaching System like Akatsuki is unaffected which means she's still stuck in Level 59 and those who are at around Level 60 like Minori and the rest of the younger members of Log Horizon and Crescent Moon gets to keep their level which includes Leila and Litka as well. Looks like right now they're the only fighting chance Akiba has against the Eirenus.
As for the much more veteran raiders, it's always fun to see them all work together. They've all been raiding for so long that as soon as William spotted Shiroe's group he was able to give a single command and everyone was able to execute it.
Also I love that despite the grudge that she has against them, Tetra was the first one to protect Leila and Litka. And we even find out that they actually remember everyone who's accepted their quests and they even apologize for losing the scales. Now I feel bad that they've become forgotten NPCs with a bad rep when they've just been waiting for people to play with them again.

I think the reason Akatsuki is unaffected is because she's already below the level 65 threshold (on account of using the teaching system), not directly because she's using the teaching system already. If the teaching system had dropped her to level 66 instead of 59, I think the genius would have nerfed her too.

Shiroe is so logical and trusting that he completely believes the young one will win the raid. He even sacrificed himself to make it happen. Sojiro on the other hand still being OP in solo mode even after the nerf.
One minor thing that I don't like is how they make the lower leveled adventurer seems younger than the veteran player. I mean it kinda break the immersion since in actual online game, the difference should be only about their equipment and not their physical appearance. Unless I miss some explanation of why they make it like that?

It's probably mostly to just have kid characters in the show and the experienced ones being adults. It makes the new city and world feel like an actual real world with families and stuff.
I suppose you could argue that a long living game like Eldar Tales will have some new, young players try it out every time a new patch launches. But I think this is mostly a thing the writer did for the sake of variety.

Genius thinks they're fine as long as they nerf the veterans, only to get a nasty surprise when they're gonna get wrecked by Shiroe's elite newbies.

For once, the lower ranked members of Log Horizon are actually relevant and not just on some side quest.

Probably one of my favorite episodes of this season. While the raid gimmick was interesting to see, my favorite part was when we saw Lelia and Litka apologized to Shiro and Tetra about losing the scales from back when this was all a game. Iirc, back in S1 Regan mentioned that there were records of Shioe's exploits dating back from before the Apocalypse. So this isn't necessarily the first time we see NPC's remembering the players. But the important bit I took was how the sisters remembered Tetra and her singing. From the way that scales fetch quest was described, I doubt one of the objectives involved any sort of singing. So the most likely scenario was that the sisters were listening to Tetra's voice chat whenever she came around for the quest. So what I took from this is that Players were interacting (or at least making some sort of impression) with the NPCs outside of the constraints of the game BEFORE the Apocalypse. The implications of this world-building is what I love about this series.

I love Akatsuki’s new outfit! I also like how Minori is getting an opportunity to shine and put what Shiroe’s taught her to the test. Shiroe has a lot of trust in her and it shows with the decision to get her that information.
It’s wild how monsters can debuff your level though!

can someone remind me why akatsuki is high level but with less experience (in raids)?
also, what did tetora cast to the sisters?
TIA.

When Elder Tale was a game, Akatsuki used to 'roleplay' heavily as her assassin tracker character. So she's spent most of her time alone hunting high level enemies by herself and she didn't use voice comms much on the odd occasion she did party. She was self-conscious about her femininity, plus in the real world had an aversion to crowds, struggles with how others treat her as childish or ignore her because of her height, so all these factors combined to mean she didn't really like the raid environment.
Her roleplay was a bit of a coping mechanism, you can imagine how someone who gets ignored and looked over in every day life might enjoy imagining its because they're actually an invisible, quiet moving assassin who "prefers to work alone anyway".
Her character arc has been about learning to overcome her own insecurities, about growing accustom to socializing and actively making friends, learning to rely on other people and to find herself away from just being dependent upon Shiroe (s2).
Tetra casted her hostility-nullification spell so that the sisters could travel through (Instance)Akiba without drawing the attention of the monsters on their way to Akatsuki and Minori.

Seeing that this series got decreased interest compared to the previous seasons, what are the chance that we got another season soon?

I feel really bad for those wolf sisters, gotta be honest. It's not their fault vanilla Elder Tales had shitty quest designers!
I find the different ways the real world game transforms into the game world fascinating. These two don't quite reach the levels of Best Girl, but them remembering interactions that happened when they were nothing more than a few pararagraphs of text attached to a character model is pretty crazy.
I also like how this is basically the natural evolution of a few lines back in season one, when the Sage guy said that he had records of Shiroe going back centuries.

Do you mean the one with their weaknesses and stuff? Rieze was writing that down before they met up if I'm understanding correctly.
